Congrats on getting your son a bird, tell him congrats from the team.
Nice practice run , now for the big boy season.
Now when you go turkey hunting, you will have to sneak out of the house ,
So he does not see you.

Its nice knowing that there are quite a few more birds out there. And very responsive. Now my son knows I'm on my own until I get one down. I like to go after them. Its an awesome thrill walking at them behind the a tail fan. Had one of them a couple years back about 3 feet from me before I dropped the fan. He froze and knew it wasn't going to end well for him. So I'll be out there next weekend and then purchase more permits if I need to.

Well I don't expect to score with these first two tags I got in Illinois. Not much experience hunting the big timber. I'm in wilderness areas with virtually no fields. Just hills and hollers oak/hickory timber with mixed mature pines. The only way to kill a bird would be to call it in, which I'm not so great at. But I'll try. It's nice to get out in the woods and hike if nothing else. Will score birds at my money spot but not until mid-May. Wisconsin has a lot more birds and a lot less hunters.

Ok guys... finally got one to add for our team. With all the rain we have had this week, I took to a clover and chufa field hoping that the birds would come to dry off between showers. It paid off and I got a good bird.

18.5 lbs
10" beard
1 3/16" right spur
1 1/16" left spur
_______
18.5 + 20 + 11.875 + 10.625= 61

pics to come
