Roll Team One! Will here, ready for action. I'm looking forward to a season of adventures, stories, and fun. I don't even care if they're not mine! It's the sharing with others that's important, at least to me! As a team, we cannot ignore the day to day that makes a season! Let's bond like true teamies and make sure we share! It's more fun for everyone!

Anyone besides me currently hunting? I have two pronghorn in the bag (a buck and a doe from Wymoning) and I'm currently chasing mulies in Colorado. I saw a dandy this past weekend but he evaded me. I'll be back up this coming weekend to give him heck.

dman4505 09-03-2013 09:17 AM

Good luck on the mulie
Our season opens October 1st here in Iowa

Don

Bucktail_Bob 09-03-2013 11:04 AM

BB checking in. IL season starts Oct 1.
I have been busy shooting doves in my favorite sunflower field this past weekend.
I have been on the 1st and 2nd place teams the past 2 years. It would be nice to get back on top.
Will, share some pics of your goat, congrats.

Can do Bob. Annually, I try to make a hunting trip to Wyoming for speed goats. This hunt is sort of a precursor for my deer and elk pursuits in the Rockies. It puts me in a "game-on" hunt mode, which really isn’t hard to do. I usually try to draw an “any antelope” tag and at least two doe/fawn tags. I generally prefer to spot and stalk, but this is quite difficult on Wyoming’s open prairie. In addition, this year I had a breast cancer survivor accompanying me. She is making a strong effort to learn the art of bow hunting, and I am willing to help. The two of us decided our best chance for success would come from a ground blind set up over a well used stock tank. We would get-em when they drank. The plan worked for the most part. Michele had shot opportunities on three different occasions, but none brought home the bacon. I had two follow up shots which flew true. I arrowed the first doe at 40 yards after she moved away from the tank on Michele’s first 22 yard attempt. This buck went down to a 35 yard quartering away shot.

He's not the biggest but I am happy. The experience with Michele will always be my trophy. I look forward to many more hunts with her in the future. She is a wonderful lady-tough as nails!

Bucktail_Bob 09-05-2013 09:30 AM

Will,
Nice cutters on that goat and prime table fare to boot. Excellent story and quite the accomplishment with archery gear.

iamyourhuckleberry 09-10-2013 03:58 AM

HJ, sorry for your loss. I hate theives!

I spent this past Saturday and Sunday searching for mule deer near timberline in the Colorado Rockies. I came close to my goal, but not close enough. I had a doe 15 yards for twenty minutes. Had she been a buck, she would have taken an arrow... no bucks sighted. Mister Murphy, on the other hand, smacked me in the face. I opted not to hunt elk this year with my bow, and thus, Murphy's law placed two 6x6 bulls less than fort yards in front of me... broadside noless. It was a grand sight to see. One was pushing the 320 mark while the other was near 290. I watched them for five minutes. They spooked when I tried to get closer for some cell phone video.

I'm heading back up this coming weekend for more of the same. Does are fair game, since this will be my last weekend to hunt Colorado. I leave for Newfoundland (moose, bear, caribou hunt)on the 19th and our bow season will be over by the time I get back. If I haven't filled a deer tag by then, I'll hunt deer in another state.

Looks like we have one person left to check in' guess we can start thinking of a team name and a captain. Also if anyone knows how to put together an avatar that would be much appreciated.

Don

iamyourhuckleberry 09-10-2013 01:37 PM

Don,

You seem to be a take charge man. You have my vote for captain.
As far as a team name, I've always like the one word team names which tend to be all encompassing. Like Team Vanish, Team Steel, etc.

I can help with the avatar.

dman4505 09-11-2013 07:14 AM

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I don't mind taking the reins if it's okay with everyone else.
I'm like you I've always liked the one word team names.
As soon as we have a name you can put the avatar together.

got my vote

iamyourhuckleberry 09-11-2013 04:58 PM

I realize "that right shall not be infringed", but isn't that exactly what we are doing?

Team 1nfringe...let's get in their face! In their house! In their bed! Through their heart!

Such a name seems appropriate at this time.

W9ARcher 09-11-2013 09:45 PM

"Team 1nfringe...let's get in their face! In their house! In their bed! Through their heart!"

I like it and could make for an interesting avatar with that neat slogan built in.

I'll second the nomination for dman4505 as captain for pulling this group together.

hatchet jack 09-12-2013 03:56 PM

sounds good too me.

dman4505 09-12-2013 04:54 PM

Looks like these are our choices so far:

Team 1nfringe - looks to be the front runner
Team Vanish
Team Steel

Don

Bucktail_Bob 09-12-2013 05:35 PM

Don has my vote.

hatchet jack 09-12-2013 06:33 PM

I like team 1nfringe

hatchet jack 09-12-2013 06:37 PM

After 13 years I got myself a new Bow . 2013 Elite Answer Black riser and camo limbs,70lbs. Great Bow and so easy to shoot!

W9ARcher 09-13-2013 02:33 PM

dman4505, thanks for stepping forward and accepting the role of captain! Looking forward to chasing the whitetail once I get my bear down. I'll post some trail cam pics once I recall my photobucket login :)

dman4505 09-13-2013 06:35 PM

Hey no problem
Good luck on the bear
Bear and elk are two of my fantasy hunts

iamyourhuckleberry 09-15-2013 03:36 PM

Don,

I"ll be your huckleberry on the elk...
I will have an elk camp set up next year and there is an open invite for anyone willing to venture west. There will be several national and international hunter playing. The networking is amazing and the event in general is a hoot!

This link will give you an idea of the hunt:
http://forums.bowhunting.com/bowhunt...lk-2010-a.html

Anyway, Team 1 is on the score board. I arrowed a doe this morning since today was my last day of huntingColorado before I head to Newfoundland. I saw a good buck yesterday but I could not close the distance. At one point, I had a 53 yard opportunity, had the buck remained still...he didn't. He walked away into the sunset. My Team 1 buck will have to be a white-tail. A muley will hopefully come next year.

Good hunting everyone.

iamyourhuckleberry 09-18-2013 04:09 AM

Am I going in the right direction?

http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps4b118532.jpg

W9ARcher 09-18-2013 09:34 PM

Nicely done. Anyway to incorporate the number 1 in the word Infringe to represent team one? Perhaps in the second I which would be balanced.

W9ARcher 09-18-2013 09:38 PM

BTW, nicely done on the doe harvest and getting us on the board. I'm heading out for my second round of bear hunting tomorrow and will be taking some venison as well if the opportunity rises. Finally the forecast is calling for more seasonal weather and with the recent rain, the critters should be migrating further from the river now that the pot holes are filled with water again.

iamyourhuckleberry 09-21-2013 06:36 PM

Yeah Gerry, I overlooked the number one in "1nfringe" and I did not realize it until later. I am on a ferry heading to Newfoundland currently. It will have to wait until I return after the 1st. Man, the 50 hour drive from Denver to North Sydney, Nova Scotia was killer. I doubt I'll get any rest while this ferry set out to sea. I sure hope there's a moose, caribou, and bear waiting for me!

Best of luck to everyone as you take to the field!

Time for a replacement?

I agree, I posted in the captains thread that I haven't heard from them hopefully we'll get a replacement.
