I've finally got out into the woods. I saw a load of deer these last two evenings, and several bucks but no shooters. One basket 8'r is all I have had in range. I hope to nail a doe or two in the next week.

Dang Found another dead one. My buddies have been finding several on their ground as well. I'm afraid I may have lost my big 9 pt. haven't seen him in a month.

Well I was expecting a lot of pictures and boy did I ever. Only problem is I got over 3,000 pics in just 2 days. Something must have happened to the settings. So now when I go back out I will have to change them. Did see alot of deer with a good number of some nice big fat does. The only bucks on there in those 2 days were 1 1/2 year olds.

Was able to harvest this fine doe last night. Saw 8 bucks last night. Man what a farm. The owner said the other two guys haven't seen anything yet. They must not be very good at reading sign and placing stands. Shot her a little low, and had to let her lay overnight. Dropped down to 30 last night so she was fine.

Congrats again deernutz!!!!! You are piling up the points. I am doing great with the exception of not being able to hunt until next Saturday the 28th which is opening day. YEAH!!!!!

Ditto on the nice doe Nutz! They grow them big in the frozen north, eh?
I thought I'd have a tasty doe tied to a tree yesterday afternoon, but it didn't happen. I again saw a mess of deer and a few non-shooter bucks, but all at a distance... I'll pick up the action next week.

It looks like this afternoon/evening I will be collecting acorns and shooting. Shooting Tuesday afternoon. Dumping out the acorns, more corn, and checking the cam then shooting again on Thursday. Friday will be more shooting. Saturday will be opening day and hopefully I will be tagging a doe around 7 AM!!!!! Good luck to all!!!!!

That is pretty innovative. Are you going to add any color or just go with the black and white? I definitely say we should go with that design though.

Shooting went well. I got a good amount of acorns collected. Then after we got done shooting we had a nice surprise. We got about 3/4 mile away from our hunting and we saw a very nice piebald buck. He was pretty much all white from his shoulders on back. I would put him at 150"-160". Hopefully he will cruise over onto my turf here real soon.

Already made the change. I like it. I thought about leaving it black and white but adding some bright red blood dripping from the broad head. What would you all think of that?

Bad news, I was unable to get permission on the property where I have seen some big ones near my house. The farmer said no; however there's a 'possible' on 1 property bordering that property and the farmer gave me a name of another landowner that also borders the property. I went over there today and they have a electronic locked gate so i could not get up to the house. I guess i will have to mail a letter and see what happens. Alot of 'wealthy' people around here and they have all this land that they do nothing with and say no to hunting! Oh well, I will have to get one to bite soon, hopefully.

I had a doe pass about 60yds away this evening - at least I'm getting closer to them, lol. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon...

I got a call last night and took Ruby on a track early this morning - she did very well, finding a gut-shot 9 ptr about 350 yds+ from last blood in a direction no one thought the buck went.

fsh - very cool on the tracking job. Good work Ruby! This is the 2nd time I saw a little dog tracking deer. This property I hunted in Oh last year the guy tracked a deer with a Jack Russell.

I had a doe with her fawn come by me yesterday evening. I am going to try to fill my buck tag first. There are more and more bucks showing up on camera but mostly at night.

Well we are almost all there are far as the formalities go. All we need now is for pj to change the thread to Team Edge #6. Everyone is doing a great job. #1 on the leader board!!!!! Thanks deernutz for getting us off to a good start and for the team name. Pines you did a great job on the avatar. I also think we have the best and most unique name, and the best avatar. Headed out tonight to check the cams and sit for the last couple of hours after I get my classroom cleaned up. Hoping that the tall 8 shows up. I will be back out Saturday to try and tag out. There is a nice cold snap that is suppose to hit here later Sat afternoon. Hoping it will get the deer moving early Saturday.

I have all my gear ready for the opener on Saturday. Friday I just have to wash everything up. I will also be dumping out some more corn and acorns. After that I will be slinging a few arrows at the target and get some last minute fine tuning in. Hopefully I will at least score a doe.

There was a cold snap that came through this week. No snow in the valley but the mountains are white already. Kinda weird seeing snow so soon.

I went out last night and was able to harvest another doe. Too bad it won't go on the scoreboard. I know some of you are wondering why I keep shooting deer. The farmer made a deal with me. He would let me hunt if I helped thin the herd. I guess when the snow comes it's nothing to see 100 deer in a field. In my area I'm allowed a buck tag and 6 antlerless tags. I have two friends that are in a bad way so the deer will be going to a great cause.

Deernutz, I think that is a great thing you do! If there are enough deer--feed your friends! I usually get an extra deer to help a family friend who could use the meat. They are on tough times and it really does help. Plus on the other side you get to keep hunting!!!!

My Wed. night sit was a bust. Did not see a deer. I hunt a metro unit and the neighbor was out mowing his lawn and playing with the horse so no deer movement. Headed out sometime this weekend.

I saw 14 deer and 23 turks this evening - two 8-ptrs, but not shooters; closest doe passed 45 yds out. One day their luck will run out, lol.

This is the doe I got thurs night.

In the past people have given me a hard time if I shoot more deer then they think is appropriate. Glad to see our team is level headed and understands .

I do know one thing. Based off the bucks I've been seeing. I just hope half make it through hunting season. Next year might be the year I shoot a monster.

Hey nutz great work! I like donating a deer or two to needy families as well. Hope everyone has a good opener. Ours starts oct 1 here. Good news, the big 9 i feared was dead came back. Brought a really nice 8 with Him as well. Looks like most are in hard horn now so it won't be long til they seperate.

Looks like I won't be getting back out until Monday morning. Keep at them and good luck out there.

I had a close call on a big doe but she never gave me the shot I wanted. Could have shot a little 5 pointer but definitely not what I am looking for in a buck. Overall I saw 7 deer. Not a bad sit for the first morning.
