Way to go Nutz! Great start for team 6. I am heading out in the morning for the Missouri opener.

ManofTheFall 09-14-2013 06:43 AM

Well guys we already have 1 buck down thanks to deernutz!!!!!! But no team name or no captain yet. We need to get on this.

Here's a better pic guys. He didn't score well, but of course I never shoot a deer for score. I look for mass which this guy had.

He scored 126.5.

Hope you all score this yr and don't forget your harness.

I was thinking our name could be Team Edge. Since the edge of the broadhead we choose closes the deal for us bowhunters.

As for cap. We definately need to get on it. I would but there could be days where I can't get on line.

ManofTheFall 09-14-2013 12:56 PM

I like Team Edge. I don't think I have ever heard that name in any contest I have participated in. It has my vote. Has everyone checked in yet? Any volunteers or nominations for captain?

ManofTheFall 09-14-2013 02:37 PM

I looked back in over the thread and and only grneyemonstr has not checked in yet. How long do we give him before we ask for an alternate. Some seasons have obviously started already and others are starting soon. Hopefully everyone on the team stays active and participates regularly on the thread and keeps it more interesting.

On_Point 09-14-2013 05:59 PM

Way to go Deernutz, congratulations on your harvest. That's a great looking buck. Now yall enjoy the lead for the moment cause it wont last long. lol j/k Again, congrats from Team Pass Thru.

pjhunts 09-14-2013 06:22 PM

Congrats deernutz! I love mass too. Team edge is fine by me. I got a pic of the double main beam buck today. In hard horn. Not quite as big as I'd hoped for. Still proble gross just shy of 170 mom typical. Poor mass really hurts him. Still lookin forward for the real big one to finally show up. I'm hoping he blows up to the 220" range. Would have been around 205" last year. I missed him.... Twice....in an hour. Not planning on seein anything out of him til about November

TheinesPines 09-14-2013 06:29 PM

Well wi opened today. Saw some does and a goofy buck whose antlers ran down his face instead of up and out.

Great day to sit. I also like team edge.
Next time to the woods will be next Friday for me. Looks like rain tomorrow.

Stay safe

ManofTheFall 09-14-2013 06:45 PM

Looks like 3 votes for Team Edge so far, 3 more and we have a name. Still looking for a captain though.

pjhunts 09-14-2013 07:49 PM

sorry not used to the computer my phone always puts the periods in for me

grneyemonstr 09-15-2013 04:11 PM

Hello everyone sorry for the late check in I spent the first week of september at a fly in bear hunting lodge and the WIFI was not agreeing with my phone, then I spent a week on vacation with the family. My name is Greg and I hunt northern Michigan. I shoot a Martin Pantera and will be using Rage Hyperdermics this year. They opened my bear up nicely and I am hoping they do the same on a nice deer. I wish I had some trail cam pictures to share but unfortunately I spent the first half of the year fighting cancer and recovering from a stem cell transplant. Ill be hunting an area that has produced in the past unfortunately I'm on a wing and a prayer this year but at least I'm here to hunt.

pjhunts 09-15-2013 04:56 PM

Wow. Greg sounds like u have had one heck of a year. Congrats on your bear and more importantly your recovery. It's not an easy battle but it sounds like you are pretty positive about it. I think a good attitude is crucial in the battle.

pjhunts 09-15-2013 05:22 PM

Uhg. Found another dead deer today. Fortunately it didn't have any antlers

deernutz 09-15-2013 06:29 PM

Nice to meet you Greg. Wow glad to hear you made it out and got yourself a bear. Glad you're doing so well after your procedure. Welcome to the team!!!

deernutz 09-15-2013 06:42 PM

Now I'm after a fat doe.

ManofTheFall 09-15-2013 07:14 PM

We have all now checked in. Looks like you have came a long way this year Greg. My continued prayers will be with you that you continue to do well. Now, we have three votes for Team Edge, and no volunteers or nominations for captain yet. Let's Get'er done.

fshafly2 09-16-2013 01:39 AM

Greg
A desire to go on will help you win the fight... our prayers are with you and congrats on the bear.
Man - Team Edge is ok by me - go ahead and take the helm by default, no one else is stepping up.
pj - bluetongue? We had it bad here last year, and I thought I smelled my first dead deer of the year just yesterday while scouting.

cmoutos 09-16-2013 06:06 AM

Team Edge sounds good to me. Yea are prayers are with you just keep fighting and doing what you love. I went out on Sunday but saw nothing will give it another try this coming weekend. Good luck everybody.

pjhunts 09-16-2013 08:23 AM

Ya. I'd say blue tongue / ehd. Whatever u wanna call it. Number 3 so far. We had it really ba last year and two years before that. Last year I found over 30 and we don't have very many deer to begin with

ArtyJoe 09-16-2013 09:07 AM

Team Edge sounds great to me.

Have you ever hunted a whole day and not see a deer? Well that's how the Missouri opener went for me.

ManofTheFall 09-16-2013 11:01 AM

I will step in for captain and I say we go with Team Edge. Any objections?

Sounds great to me. Thanks for stepping up Man.

deernutz 09-16-2013 02:16 PM

Yeah me too. I appreciate it. Your the best cap I've ever had.

ManofTheFall 09-16-2013 03:27 PM

You trying to butter me up nutz? lol!!!!!

zubba 09-16-2013 04:22 PM

Just touching base, patiently waiting for October 1st. Team edge sounds great to me.

PaBowSniper 09-16-2013 05:06 PM

Team Edge sounds good to me.

pjhunts 09-16-2013 05:22 PM

Excellent.

ManofTheFall 09-16-2013 08:39 PM

Well, it looks like I am captain and we are Team Edge. I will let it be known on the captains check-in page. Now, someone must come up with an avatar. I can do alot of things but this is not one of them.

ManofTheFall 09-16-2013 08:40 PM

In case any of you didn't look and see earlier on the thread, my name is Shawn.

ManofTheFall 09-16-2013 08:47 PM

Just a reminder for all team members. The hunter, the bow, and the entire deer must be present in the picture. There are no exceptions to this rule and last year 2 bucks were disqualified. This goes for both bucks and does.

ManofTheFall 09-16-2013 08:56 PM

One more thing, When you post your picture to the score card page it must also have the official measurements along with it. It is rule #7A

A) Within this post, the measurements as required by the P&Y scoring sheets shall be listed. Example as follows.

B) Total 131 2/8

Right ----- Left

MB 18 6/8 ----- 17 4/8
G1 4 ----- 3
G2 6 4/8----- 6
G3 6 4/8 ----- 4 6/8
G4 4 4/8 ----- 1
G5 1 -----

H1 5 6/8----- 6 2/8
H2 4 4/8 ----- 4 4/8
H3 4 4/8----- 5 6/8
H4 3 6/8----- 3 2/8

Inside spread 15 4/8

Abnormal points
1. 4
2.
3.

I noticed you only put the score in deernutz. Maybe you should edit that and and in the measurements. I just want to be sure we get all the credit that is due us.

PaBowSniper 09-17-2013 05:37 AM

Sounds good Shawn. Thanks for the heads up on the scoring and photos.

I got ya. I'll get on that Score sheet. I think threw it away. Finished my euro mount last night .

PaBowSniper 09-17-2013 04:25 PM

wow that was quick work Nutz. Looks really good man!

ManofTheFall 09-17-2013 05:08 PM

That is a pretty good looking mount.

TheinesPines 09-17-2013 08:11 PM

That is a great mount.....was it easy to do?

Man--thanks for stepping up!!!!

I am not overly artistic, but I will see if I can come up with a logo--avatar thing.

I am headed out to the west side of WI to hunt some land a friend has. Lets hope I can connect soon!
Pines

ManofTheFall 09-17-2013 11:24 PM

Good luck out there Pines!!!!! I should be able to knock down a doe fairly quick and easy. Opening day here is in 10 days. I will be checking the cams probably on Friday so if I get anything decent I will post it here. Everyone feel free to try and come up with an avatar. That will be the last thing we have to do to get our team thread rolling. Let's keep it going we currently lead in posts. Everyone keep us updated on all your hunts. Don't be afraid to ask any questions and by all means ask for advice. Who knows, one of our thoughts or ideas may help you nail that big one you've been waiting for. Good luck out in the deer woods!!!!!

deernutz 09-18-2013 07:49 AM

I've done 8 Euro mounts now. It's really not that hard to do. It just takes practice. I've refined my technique over the years. If you want me to walk you through it let me know.

I think I might be crazy. I knew there was a storm coming in last night. I could see it. Temps were dropping and I still found myself perched in a stand getting rained on trying to fill a doe tag. I almost closed the deal on a doe a couple times but the wind was roaring and swirled a few times. I did have 2 2yr old buck come right under my stand. They were acting really weird. They came running at me, then ran back to where they came from. Then came running back again and just stood there at 15 yds for 15 minutes then walked off.

Shawn I'm going to try and get that score sheet done tonight. Who knows maybe I measured wrong and he'll score a little more. Be safe out there guys. Been hearing a lot of preventable tragedies while hunting this year already.
