Hey, I'm on team 9. I'm not sure where I will be hunting this year. Possibilities are NC, VA, MD and WV right now. Looking forward to dusting off my bow, scrapping together a few broad heads to go with what arrows I have left and hunting this year. The good news is I know of one monster hanging out behind a suburban DC area neighborhood. My buddies house should be back to normal now that they finished putting in the 8 lane interstate. This is great news. Last time I hunted there, I emptied my quiver on 4 deer back to back within 4 minutes time. I was sitting in his delapidated shed as they came around the corner one at a time and wondering what the heck was their buddy doing after my shot. Btw, 10 yards away. Toughest thing was taking another arrow out and knocking it up for the shot quick enough. Lol.

Checking in. It's funny how the only reception I get is over our 5 star crapping stool in the middle of the woods. Today is opening day of bear season so tonight we will be in the stands. All of our baits have been hit hard and bear crap everywhere. Hopefully next time I check in I will have a bear on the ground.

Hello fellow shooters ,I may be the north end of the team hunting in central Ontario.Looking forward to a great season .good luck to all the teams-Shoot away
Hey guys, checking in from RI. I'll be hunting RI and CT. I'm hunting a new property this year plus the usual doe hangouts. I've also got two 2 week seasons on the Navy property in Newport, there are always some big bucks hanging around there. Good luck team!
Hello teammates... Just checking in! The season starts in a few weeks here in MD!!!
Just checking in. I will be hunting southern indiana. I have a few good bucks on camera. The biggest being a upper 140 class 10 point.
Good luck to all fellow hunters |
Hey everyone, another MD guy here. I'll be hunting the eastern shore of MD starting this Friday. All public land but productive areas.
SlowDraw checking in. I'll be hunting the Eastern shore of MD as well. I am sure some of the time will be spent hunting for whacker's wounded deer (lol), couldn’t resist. Good luck to everyone. I can't wait to enjoy some time in the woods, and hear everyone's stores.
Found a decent deer shed up here on my bear hunt. Everybody in front of me ran it over and I was the last one but also the only one to notice it. We got one bear down so far. Hopefully the next one is mine. Bow season back home in Iowa doesn't start till October so I still got some waiting to do. Got some good ones on camera though.
Headed out in the a.m. Tomorrow before work. Looking to stick a doe. Hopefully I'll be posting bloody blazer vanes tomorrow.
Good luck whacker . I am packing up my gear and heading out on a moose hunt next week .Don't be to concernd if you don't hear from me for a couple weeks ,I,ll be back..
Anybody having any luck? Season starts tomorrow here. I'll probably get out for an afternoon hunt.
No luck yet... But the "heat" wave thats been sitting on the East Coast has finally moved off leaving some nice cool evenings.
Have not been out yet, but looks like I am going to be able to get a out for a short sit tomorrow morning. Going to hit a new spot. I have turkey hunted the area but never bow hunted it.
No luck opening day. I'm planning to take tomorrow afternoon off and give it a shot. Its been a surreal week so far. I work for NAVSEA, not in Washington though. I know a bunch of people who work in the building that got shot up yesterday. It turns out nobody I knew was hit. That dirtbag shooter was actually working in my building here in Newport RI last month. Apparently he was pretty messed up when he was here.

Hey guys,
Let the team down a bit over the weekend. Killed a doe Saturday night but only had a picture on my phone that a buddy took and it was a black blob so no points for her. Don't worry though there will hopefully be plenty more. Passed a little 7 pt (maybe 70 inches ) at 8 yards Sat as well and had a piebald come in just out of range. It was an entertaining night for public land in the middle of September. I'll prob get out tomorrow night after work again. Good luck to those of you will open seasons |
Guys, I've landed a job that will have me in MD this fall. I plan on hunting suburbia heavy. I have a few places on my own but have a friend that has more spots than days to hunt. Hopefully some big bucks have been spared the sniper riffles. Though they claim to only be killing does and bambies. I find it hard to believe given the fact I would routinely pass on nice 8 points in the 120 to 130 range. I don't see them much anymore.
I went out yesterday and saw a doe and 2 foxes...
Maybe I'll have better luck this afternoon. |
Not only did I get skunked yesterday, the only thing I saw besides squirrels was a skunk. I blame the full moon...
I got out one morning earlier in the week and something spooked a couple of deer my way. I had a doe at 10 yards, but she was behind a sapling for a minute or so, then trotted off to find her friend. Jumped some deer in the dark on the way in. I think the full moon had them moving earlier than normal.
At least I saw a few does tonight. No shots though. I let a doe pass at about 35 yards, she was walking away and I didn't want to risk a long shot on a moving deer. Heading out tomorrow afternoon again, at least that's the plan.
Taking out the girlfriend's little brother throughout the week for youth season. Still another week to go before I can hunt!
Saw some does this morning, but no shot. A flock of turkeys were running around making a racket and had the deer on edge. They moved past my stand farther north than normal to get away from the turkeys. Hope everone can get out in the woods soon. It was great to get back out into the sights and sounds of fall. Do we need to select a team captain?
Screwed up tonight. Had a doe and a little one feeding their way towards me. I'm not sure what the hell I was thinking, but I ended up shooting the little one. It turned out to be a button buck. I'm pretty peeved at myself. Does this count at all for the contest?

Im back season starts here on tuesday
Been out of town for a few weeks ,U guys picked out a team name -RIB CRACKER.
Been out a few times but it's been to damn hot here. The weather finally broke a bit and went out yesterday and there was good activity. 5 Bucks and two does. I passed a big bodied 6 pt at 4 yards yesterday. The rack wasn't anything special maybe 14-15 inside so I let down on him. When I first saw the body (before rack) I was like oh boy here we go. He won't get the pass if its the 3 week of November. I' m headed to Pulaski NY Sunday night for 3 days of salmon fishing then headed back home to MD to muzzle loader hunt the early season next Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
I have seen nothing yet....well....nothing worth taking a shot at. Hope to get out more the next few weeks!
Nothing yet
Killed a doe with the smokepole last week. My next several weekends are jacked up so I'll be doing my best to get on one before or after work. Good luck to those hunting
You bunch of bushwackers going to pic a name or are we just going to be # 9
Rut Potion #9, I like it.
Well I got an arrow in a decent buck this evening. It was only 8 yards (I was about 18 feet up a tree) and quartering toward me. The shot looked good, but when I got down the blood trail was week. initially there was some gut content then just spots of blood. from the impact spot and the angle I still think the shot was ok but just clipped the stomach on the way out (it was a pass through). Anyway I didn't track it far since the blood was not great and it was pretty much dark. It is supposed to be below freezing here tonight (not the norm so I got lucky there) so I backed out and I am going to go look for him first thing tomorrow. Hopefully I will have some picks. Not going to sleep well tonight.
We are on the board
I found the buck I hit last night. He is a non-typical 14. Not huge but not bad either. I'll get the score and pick up soon.

One more close up of the rack, makes him look bigger. Not supper wide but lots of character, I am very happy with him. He goes 132.25. Not too bad for a public land deer. Now I will be chasing does. We can get a second buck if we shoot 2 does first, so I have some work to do if I want to chase another one in the rut. If I am only chasing does the rest of the way I still will be smiling. Good luck everyone! |
Scored one for the team
