5 days until the NY opener. Savage is sighted in. 31/2 days of work and then I hit the road. Hope to have a positive report back this weekend.

By the way I had no choice not to shoot him. There were some really nice bucks in the area and I had put out some estrus to bring them in the open. Unfortunately I spilt a little in my back pack. I hunt on the ground and this one did not want to leave. He made a bee line right to me and had lovin on his mind. I finally had to shoot him at 20 yards, wasn't gonna let him get any closer lol

Congrats Kellyguinn, NY season was a bust for me. Never even got a chance to pull the trigger. MY 13yr old son and I will be out tomorrow for the NJ gun opener so hopefully I can put some points on the board.

I will be hunting till the end of January. I just have not seen a big enough buck to pull the trigger on yet. I have a strict 15 inch minimum or 125 class deer or bigger on my property and just have not seen one big enough yet. I have several pics of good deer but just not lucky enough to see one while hunting so far. Our rut is just now kicking in so it should be getting better I hope real soon.

I heard harvest totals are way down here. Guess I'm lucky I got what I did. We average 100k a year and last count was around 57k
