I have been getting pictures of this buck for a week or two now about every other night. He would stop in front of my camera and pose. Thats where he got his name Hot Shot.

Thursday night, I had encounters with 5 different bucks. One of which was a nice 9 pointer which I also got pictures of and I was tempted to shoot but glad I didn't, because Hot Shot came out right behind him. Smoked him at 20 yards. He ran 50ish yards and dropped dead against a tree.
Rough scored at 162 3/8. I scored him that night in the dark and I was freezing so after I get him caped out I will score him for a more acurate score.
Pictures will be posted tomorrow night.

Okay guys here he is.

His total score was 160 1/8. I was reaaally being picky on the scoring. I rounded down most of the time if possible. I would post up the score sheet but we misplaced it at the cabin.
Heres what I remember.
Spread: 19 1/8.
g2s: 9-10 inches
brow: 5-6 inches.
main beams: 22ish and 24ish.
First circum on both sides was little over 5 inches.
2nd circum on both sides for a little under 5 inches.
3rd was around 4 in a half
4th was 4 1/8 and 3 7/8.
The two abnormal points were 2 7/8 and if im correct the other was 2 5/8.
Total of 12 scoreable points.

Close up on him. Sort of make him looks small haha.

My biggest buck up to date. Passed up alot of nice 130-140s this year. Starting thursday night I saw a total of 18 different bucks up until saturday evening. Just about every one we saw was chasing a doe and grunting. I got alot of good footage.

I apologize for the long read.

I had been getting alot of trail cam pictures of this guy and was getting all excited about him but they were all night time photos. I had also been chasing this really nice 150-160 inch 8 pointer. Nice wide deer. But he just wouldnt get close enough through the season. Thursday evening started out with three does coming out, couple small bucks coming out, and then a decent 120ish buck came out and started chasing those does around. Then I did see anything for awhile and it was about a half hour or so till sunset so I still had a little while for shooting. I look to my right and theres a nice 9 pointer that came in. I bleated at him, grabbed my bow, got the camera on and the closer he came to me the smaller he got. He was still a nice respectful deer but he wasn't what I was after. He walked under my stand and he spooked a little so I went ahead and shut the camera off. I looked back to where this 9 pointer came from and this buck (I named him Hot Shot because he always poses in front of my cameras) came walking in the same path the 9 went. I got a glimpse of him, saw he was a nice deer. Then he stopped and started staring at me. It happend so fast that I thought he was the big 8 pointer I was chasing. I said heck with the camera, I slowly grabbed my bow (as he was looking at me). It was a do or die situation. As hes staring at me, I slowly pull back. I just get ready to shoot when I feel my upper came hitting the branch I hang my bow on. So im glad I didn't shoot there. I crouch down a little bit, and let the arrow fly. Smoked him. Ran 50ish yards and dropped dead against a tree.

Heck of a hunt!!

Congrats Andrew and CamoKenny !! Awesome Iowa Bucks !!

CamoKenny I'll get ur buck posted on the Score Thread

Andrew - I cant see any of the photos you posted and do you have the exact measurements to make up the 160 1/8 ??? Just curious it would be alot easier than for me to try to add everything up and this and that to get the number outta ur estimates.. I'll see what I can come up with..

Update

I got the photos off your Facebook for posting.. Thanks

When I scored the deer all I had for a paper plate to write on and of course my dad didn't notice the writing on it when he threw it away.

Is it a requirement to have all the measurements posted? My buck is down at the taxidermist right now.
