To all of my teammates : God is good ! I must ask that you all pray for my Brother, my best friend and my hunting partner, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Sunday night was almost our last hunt together, which I cut my hand field dressing a doe that I took. Early Monday morning, it appears that his wife of 2 years put a plot to kill him in motion. That's right KILL him ! Without giving to much information, since I am a Detective with our county Sheriff's office, some information has been withheld from me. It appears she had planned with two others to KILL him, by luring him out of thier house at 2:15 in the morning and while one of those hid nearby shooting him twice. My brother lost a lot of blood, but by GOD's GRACE and MERCY he has survived and the rounds did not hit any vital organs. It did however take him out of bow hunting this year. Muzzleloader and rifle season, we will see. I am so ANGRY, lets say, DAMN MAD right now ! All of those involved have been arrested, but my Hunting Partner, my BROTHER will survive to see another sunrise and another sunset from a deer stand and to see this B$&?H get a cage ! Sorry for my Language, forgive me, but as your teammate and a fellow deer hunter, please Pray for him. Thank You ! Maybe not the place to vent, so forgive me, but I believe fellow deer hunters know the power of Prayer !

I'm glad to hear he is doing okay. Sorry about the news though if I lived closer I'd lend a hand. I'll keep him in my prayers though.

Went out this morning for the first time two young bucks and two does. The does came to about three yards from the blind still waiting to shoot though. Also had 15 turkey around the blind. Hopefully lay something down tonight.

no deer sighted for me today, my cousin saw one, tough wind to hunt on our farms hopefully better luck tonight

Well I didn't get out as much as I wanted to this weekend.. I got out again for a little bit tonight but had to call it short because I have to head back to the university. Everything is ready for next weekend though

How was everyone's weekends? As I mentioned ealier I didn't get out as much as I wanted to but I did see deer every sit and turkey. Saurday morning I got out an hour later than I wanted to get in the stand but it didn't hurt me from what I saw. This years frst sit was already better than last years. I had 15 turkey around ten yards to start the morning then had a little fork come to about 30 yards then cut up the hill, about a half hour later I had a giant of a doe with a yearling come walking by at three yards. I got my bow up to hear another deer coming down the hill so I didn't draw to my disappointment it was a little 7 pointer. Good thing I did lift my bow up though because it made me realize the battery in my sight had died so I had no pins ( I use a hot dot that uses lights to create the pins.) The afternoon hunt was filled with the same amount of action started with turkey then a small six and the same seven. Had another buck behind the blind that we never saw we could here him rubbing though and hear his antlers hit the willows when he was walking through them. Sounded big unfortunately he never gave us a look and headed straight up the hill. I switched my zipper on the blind so I can leave the back side open a little to look out. Sunday morning I didn't get out because the fiance would not get out of bed and I had no ride home to hunt.

Prayers sent. Went this weekend saw some does out of range and passed one little buck.

That's a crazy story, I hope you're brother is making a speedy recovery!!!

Ill be returning from vacation today, so I should be back in the woods next weekend!!

Well after two weeks of nothing but squirrels I have decided not to hunt the property where moose and hulk stayed all summer. I will hunt a property about a mile away a few times this fall.. I also moved the trail cam to the same property as my other because it has a quicker trigger speed and this property seems to be a buck highway towards the end of October. I also changed my weekends of hunting to this weekend and the last weekend of October so I can catch the pre-rut/rut.

Did the rest of the team get abducted by aliens?? How is everyone doing? Anyone been out lately? Our thread really slowed down.

Hey guys.... sorry I've been gone. I took my camper to the hunting lease. It's set up, but I won't get to hunt it for several weeks. Our season opens on Monday. I will be hunting with some buddies on a place that is "our opening weekend place." Then the next week, I will be hunting as a guest of a church member's club. I will finally make it to my club by Nov 2. I will post some pics from the camp soon. I'm headed up Friday to change the cameras.

had our canadian thanksgiving this past weekend so i got to hunt 3 days, lots of action in the woods, didn't see any deer but the two people i hunt with saw 5 each. getting cold and calling for some snow this weekend hope that gets the deer moving. i will most like be in stand friday night and then all through the weekend depending on how much homework i have

Sorry I haven't been posting lately, I've been after that 11 point pretty hard! Seeing tons of deer now that I moved deeper in the woods, 9 this morning. May go this evening but won't be able to bow hunt again till next weekend.

Saulthunter- I hope you get out this weekend. I know exactly how you feel out midterm exams are this week and next so I've been stressing.

Master chief- hopefully you can get him down looms like you are having plenty of movement though.

I'll be out Saturday and Sunday. It's supposed to thunderstorm all day Saturday so I'll be in the ground blind. Sunday I'll be over and alfalfa field where three studs have been hanging out. Hoping the storm will have the deer on their feet Sunday. I'm going to try some light rattling, guys here say the bucks are coming into it curiously so hopefully a can draw a deer into the field..

Wanted to get out Saturday morning but my bus home arrived two hours late and I ended up getting home at 3 AM and it was thunderstorming. I woke up and and it was still storming so I decided to just sleep regret it because when I woke up at 8 it was sun shining and warm. Saturday night I got out saw nothing seemed like it was too warm. Went out this morning though it was raining. Got in the timber right on time taking the same trail I always do when I see eyes in my light ahead of my. I stopped looked for awhile it stood up and I noticed it was "Romeo". He turned around a walked away. Only deer I saw all morning. 30 mph wind gusts didn't help though. I think we are in the lull right now. Next outing will be the 27th hopefully have some rutting activity then.

got out twice on saturday, my cousin saw a few does and i still had seen nothing. storming a bit sat night so i decided to not hunt sunday morning as it was raining pretty hard and i wanted to hit the books for a while. Sunday night I decided to take a study break and hit the woods. End up seeing 2 does at about 8 yards passed on them both. half an hour before the end nice buck walked out in the field about 200 yards away. walked directly out in front of me about 80 yds ate for a bit then hopped the fence into the cornfield to my left. didn't have my binos so i couldn't count points but judging by his rack and his body I'd say he was at least a 3.5 year old deer.

Your weekend was more eventful than mine that's for sure. Hopefully you can get one of those bucks down soon.

Saw a doe yesterday evening. Nothing so far this morning, but I will stay up in the tree till 1030.

Well guys it looks like I'll be in the stand after all, this weekend. The woman decided she wanted to pick me up and bring me home this weekend so I'll be in the woods Saturday. I don't know about Sunday because I don't know when I'll be leaving to come back to the university. After that it will be a 6 day wait to be in the timber again. Then depending on the rut activity is when I'll choose the next weekend I hunt. I have to choose between the first and second weekend of november then the third weekend I'm back for a week and i'll be hunting hard then

Well, I'm back from Maine. I did not shoot a deer. Had shot opportunities on 4 different bucks but all were small. I had a giant doe come straight to me and get within 3 yards but all i had was a spine shot. I'm looking for a perfect shot op or nothing. I've made some poor choices before and I regret them. So unless i get a double lung op i will pass. Just me.
Oh well, had a great time, saw some deer, visited with family, it's all good. My mission was to shoot a doe for the freezer but that will have to wait a bit. Massachusetts season opened up Monday so i'll be hunting locally for the freezer meat until I'm Kansas bound on the 27th.

Hey guys, been MIA because I have been focused on my brother. He has appointments in Nashville at Vanderbuilt Hospital. He's trying real hard, therapy is rough. Getting some feeling back in his lower left arm and beginning to move some of his fingers. Says he's going during the muzzleloader come hell or high water. God has been good ! I am teaching Hunter Safety all this week at night, working during the day. Alot going on. I have to put the students through the range Saturday morning, but Saturday afternoon is all mine. My lovely bride is "forcing" me to go to the tree ! Need a break, I am so looking forward getting back out there. Just seems not right my brother, Rusty, not being there. I'm sure he'll be burning my phone up, texting. I want to thank you all for your prayers, keep them coming!

Brandyn(Kid I hunt with) went out tonight for early muzzle loader said he saw a giant 12 with tons of mass. Does winded him though. Hopefully I can get out on the property after early muzzle loader and pile him up.

After talking to a friend today I decided to go back through last years pictures to see what may show up this year. Here are some of the bucks I'll be watching out for.

Went out yesterday afternoon and sat over my small 1/2 acre food plot. Saw 5 deer but none came into the plot. Just way too many acorns this year. All the deer were in behind me eating them up for an hour or more. I did get one shot opportunity. Came to full draw on a deer and grunted to stop it. It looked right up at me and to my surprise he had 3" spikes. I never saw them and thought for sure it was a doe. The rest of the week the wind is gonna keep me out of that spot but early next week i hope to be back in there.

Weather here has been great at night, last couple days real windy, I think tomorrow is going to be as we'll, but Saturday, it's supposed to lay. I will be hunting my usual stand Saturday morning but afternoon I will be on the property where the giant 12 was (found out it was on the property I can hunt with out the kid). Hopefully I will have some good stories and video to show.

Have not been seeing much. cam has been getting alot of work on the scapes at night. Hoope to get out this weekend.

finally done exams now and am off school for a week! so i will be in the stand every day this week til there is a deer on the ground !

Well put in 10 hours in the stand yesterday to see nothing. I'm thinking it's still the October lull but prerut should kick in hard this week. I'll be in the stand again next Saturday and Sunday one more exam for me tomorrow the the stress will be gone and can spend a few more hours in the stand. I have the 16th through 26th of November off of school u unfortunately it is after the predicted rut but during peak rut of last year. Both my cameras were dead with no pictures this week but they are fresh now and one is kinda over looking a scrape that I sat on the ground next to last year and had deer walking by at 3 yards. (That was a rush). Hoping to have some good pictures to share next weekend and hopefully a deer on the ground.
