Brandyn said not to worry though because we will have chances at bigger deer there because it was the smaller one on camera. It was also a property where none of my current hitlisters are. 16 days untill opening day, 22 until I get to hunt, 29 until early muzzle loader and brandyn can hunt(most of the better properties I don't hunt without him hunting them because he was the first one to gain permission). It should be a great season

Congrats to him! Pics?:s4:

Checked cams. 0 on one, 299 on one and 71 on he other

here is the biggest buck from this week.

A little bit but I doubt Ill be after him on opening morning. Would like to see my buddy or dad get him though.

This one has had me tore up for two years now. Didn't get to bowhunt him last year and let a friend hunt him during rifle
but he never saw him.

Good looking buck. I bet he's still excited!

iayotehunter 09-15-2012 05:18 PM

Yeah he is pumped, it was his first buck so he is ahead of me and brandyn we still have yet to shoot a buck but we also really picky about who we shoot.

Maybe you'll get one of them 200" Iowa bucks as your first! :)

iayotehunter 09-15-2012 05:35 PM

I would have last year if I would have stayed in stand :hit: My dad made me leave the woods because I was home sick from school.. I watched the property from the window of my house when I see the giant walking down the property line chasing off a small buck..I sprint and grab my bow and walk to the trail i think they were going to take. They took the opposite trail.. and walked 10 yards from my stand.. This year I'm sitting all day when ever I'm out so I don't miss an oppurtunity again.

Kreagerm 09-16-2012 05:44 AM

Nothing for me Sat. Saw a bunch but they were just out of range or they were still in spots. I'm off the next 3 days so I should be in the trees at least one of those day. Huge congrats to your buddy, that's a very nice first buck. I know we're all trophy hunting but sometimes you have to shoot the nice bucks before you'll have an opportunity to shoot the monsters (could take wasted years to get a chance). And when that time comes how are you gonna handle facing a monster when you've never been in that situation. We all would like to think it's all gonna go smooth, like shooting at a target, but the buck fever will happen, it's just the nature of the adrenaline we all search for. I know I've missed my share of monsters when I was just starting out, and with big boys like that, it's a one shot deal, you miss, and you'll probably never see him again. So I wouldn't place your bar to high, until you have a bunch of decent ones under your belt. I know I sound like an old guy but I've been bow hunting for 23 years now, and I still have my Jennings Unistar to prove it, lol. Either way just have fun and enjoy your time in the woods.

iayotehunter 09-16-2012 08:57 AM

Kreagerm, I know what you mean for my first buck I want a mature deer that will be score at least 130 not a really high bar for around here but I just have to but a lot of time in. Last year I had a few decent bucks in range so I'd always practice drawing and staying calm and settling my pins.. I never get really excited over the shooting of the animal more when I get to put it iin my hands. I'm sure I'll get buck fever eventually though

iayotehunter 09-16-2012 02:37 PM

UPDATE: Does will count as 25 points. You may only enter one for score, it will also be an addition onto your buck score if you harvest a buck also..So hopefully this will help us get some more points on the board.

Master Chief 09-16-2012 04:39 PM

130 may be realistic in Iowa but take any mature deer that walks by you. I'm not gonna argue with your mentality as I can kinda relate-the only deer I will shoot is the 11 point I posted earlier(or anything bigger). Really would like to have a P&Y as my first bow buck.

How many buck tags do you get?

huntalot60 09-16-2012 07:36 PM

First sit tonight went good. i sat at a friends house for some does. ending up seeing 14 bucks and 4 fawns. I told next time put in a stand where he sees bucks and maybe see some does.LOL

Bluetickhunter 09-17-2012 04:09 AM

well seen three does opening morning no shots then had a buck grunting just outs sight behind me i let out a few grunts and he shut up and i never seen him or heard him again fusterating to say the least.

Kreagerm 09-17-2012 06:51 AM

Those Iowa bucks are pretty awesome, a 130" around my way is a hell of a deer.

Glad to hear about the extra doe points, hopefully we can all add those easy points.

Fantastic reading about everyones sightings in the woods.

iayotehunter 09-17-2012 09:16 AM

Glad to hear every one is seeing deer, I will have trail camera pictures to post up Saturday.

iayotehunter 09-18-2012 04:27 PM

Just got a text from the girlfriend saying "When are we going hunting? I'm tired of waiting." I think I have another future deer hunter on my hands and if not I have some one to control the camera :woot:
18 more days until I'm in stand

Any one have new news?

Arjuna 09-18-2012 06:23 PM

Not much new here. Watched my neighbors fields and seen 11. In one there was a 7 point with 2 doe and 3 fawns. It's kinda strange he hangs with them but he has the last two days. 2 other doe and 3 nice bucks that I couldn't tell what were (too dark). One wa mature and I think the other two were the you bucks I posted on my WGI cam.

Season starts in four days here. Low of 45 tomorrow and 47 Sat. Wind prediction is good for my #1 setup and I think it may be a new moon as well.

Arjuna 09-18-2012 07:48 PM

Moultrie m80x I think...

iayotehunter 09-19-2012 08:49 AM

I'll be hunting this weekend.

Gonna be shooting my Martin Jaguar Magnum. Arrows are Easton axis with 100gr Muzzy MX-3s.

invmp12 09-20-2012 06:41 PM

I'll be in that tree, God willing, Saturday morning ! Hunting a brand new farm this weekend for the very first time. Needless to say, I am extremely excited ! Have several good pics of some great deer. One very mature buck we have nicknamed " The Bull ". Not a huge racked buck, but obviously a mature deer. Hoping to be able to take him with my bow. Weather is shaping up very nice for West Tenn. Should be a great sit.

Kreagerm 09-21-2012 10:56 AM

I'll be heading out in the morning. I'm sure I'll see a bunch of Doe, so if any are within range I'll take a shot at one.

Good Luck to everyone heading out!!!

No luck this morning. Wind shifted and got winded. Heading back this evening.

iayotehunter 09-22-2012 10:11 AM

Sorry about the wind master chief...
Khop35 has been assigned to our team to replace SkoalGuy. Hopefully we hear from him/her soon.
I'm headed out at 2 to check trail cams they've been out for three weeks so hoping something good shows or a pattern shows itself.

iayotehunter 09-22-2012 02:43 PM

Good news and bad news..
Bad news: one camera got knocked my a squirrel and was angled sideways and only had 75 pics if deer...the other camera only had 175 pics so very slow 3 weeks that I thought were going to be good. Also a lot of news about bucks chasing does here already.

Good news: moose came back and gave a really good view, also two new bucks showed up on the other property that are now on the hitlist. I will post pics ASAP.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend and enjoying time in their stands. Stay safe

Kreagerm 09-22-2012 04:50 PM

Saw a bunch of doe, everything out of range. I leave for vacation this Friday so It will be few weeks before I'm back in the woods. Good Luck to everyone!!!!!

Master Chief 09-22-2012 05:34 PM
