Really I was not aware of that. Is it just one or can you take as many as you like. In Missouri they beg us to take doe. You can buy 99 doe tags. You may be able to take more than that but the drop down box only goes to 99. They saw many running with nose to the ground last weekend when I was bow hunting but nothing mature. Our rifle season opens saturday so I am going try to find that trophy buck but for sure will take a doe or two.

I think it is just one doe per person.

Well I am back and no I didn't get Freak Nasty :( but saw him way off so he is going to be a super monster next year :) because we nailed four in total which were 3 big bucks and a chunk of a doe!

I am still trying to figure how measure his rack cause my other deer are just meat not for score!

This for my WMU is a big deer so don't laugh when I post ok lol!

:barmy: Boo Ya Baby!

Hey guys....checking in! I just got added to the team today.

Looking forward to the season. I hunt in VA and WV....haven't had much luck yet, seen a few bucks - nothing worth shooting. Its m/l season now in VA...rifle opens on Saturday. WV rifle opens on Monday, I'll be hunting the whole week at our camp. Hope to put down a buck and doe for the team! I may get out some this week with the m/l, hopefully. This is my first time in this contest...I've been in the bow contest for many years. Didn't get in this year...missed the cutoff, so I figured I'd jump in here. I typically shoot a few does each season, and look for a nice buck. The past few years I've been lucky enough to get a decent buck down - hopefully that will continue this year. We don't have whoppers where I hunt...a good one is 110", but hey its all fun!

Treebeard....great buck for sure! 290 lbs....holy cow (literally!) Got any more pics, I want to see that body! Mature deer around here are are about 120lbs... I can't even imagine a deer that size. Congrats man, nice work!

Ya am going to post more and yes he is a heavy bugger
We used a measurement to weight chart to get his 290
He measured 46 inches around his chest girth which by this chart was 290lbs field dressed
We don't get chunk deer like that very often most of our deer are pretty lean so this probably a once in a life time buck for me
You should have seen the fat layer on this boy and his neck was massive from the rut

Man treebeard....that thing looks bigger than 106. You sure they scored it right? Do you have the actual measurments? Let me know, I can help you double check it if you don't have them, or aren't sure how to score it.

Could just be the pic is deceiving, but if it does score more...we want you to get all the points you can :)

I'm taking my son out in the morning here in VA for rifle opener. I guess we'll see. I might sneak out this evening too if I get a chance.

Well I saw 2 bucks tonight, and 1 doe. They weren't shooters...but they were rutty so I'm excited about that! Maybe tomorrow morning will be the ticket!

I measured correctly it was just the confusion on the baby drop tine and the 1" G that got everything a scew.
You know typical none typical stuff.
I got the measurements right and I sent them to WV he was help out and based them on what I sent!

Well Our Rifle season is over. I missed a big one but other than that I did not see a whole lot. Not even an opportunity at a doe. I guess we can still enter a buck with a ML for the rifle contest, maybe not I was not sure but if so I will get out the old ML and give it another shot.

It's the same tag Alltlk, I am counting on the same thing.

Hey guys....back from our trip. I got a decent 8pt yesterday. 16" wide, but both his G2's were broken off somewhat. I'll get him scored and posted when I get a chance. I didn't shoot a doe...it was so hot all week, I just didn't want to fool with one. I will get a few does before the season is out for sure. Saw a really nice buck on Friday that I just couldn't get a shot at.

Glad to see you guys having some success. Sadly, I have not been able to be out in a couple of weeks. I have been out of town some, and super busy when in town. Plan to hit it hard over the next month though, starting in the morning! Should be having some snow flurries...hope it riles those big boys up!

Here you go guys. Scores 90" even. Both G2's are broken off, the left one probably close to 4". Actually 6 of the 8 points are broken somewhat. I guess he was a fighter. Either way....not a bad buck for our area. I'll add a doe to the scorecard before long. :party0005:

I'm not going to beat my mule deer score this year.

Here's my whitetail from a couple weeks ago.



I mistook him for an older deer that I had #1 on my hit list. I passed a much larger buck earlier in the morning and ended up mistaking this guy for a buck I had nicknamed "Stubby" for obvious reasons. This buck might not have been "Stubby", but he was for sure one of his sons. Also a scraper as he had some serious gouges on him head and ear and broke a big chunk of his left main beam off.

I don't think I'm going to shoot a doe this year so looks like I'm done with my contribution to the team for now.

Anyone else still hunting? I hope so....the season is still young! I've got a few more weeks in WV, and a little over a month left in VA.

I'm actually amazed at this contest....80 guys, and not even half have taken a deer. I've been in the bow contest for years...success is actually alot better than it has been here so far. Maybe folks just aren't hunting much, or haven't posted their kills. Who knows.

Good luck, lets lay down some points....we are right in the thick of it! A few more deer (buck or doe) and we might nail the coffin shut!

I am still hunting...going out this afternoon, in fact! Haven't been too much over the last couple weeks, but hope to finish strong. I have passed on 14 different bucks this year. Just haven't had one of the bigger ones come by. Before too long, hopefully. I plan to wait until later in December to start taking some does.

Nice looking doe, WV! Glad you got to share it with your daughter! With offspring in mind, my wife and I found out several weeks ago that we are expecting our first...debuting next summer! Pretty exciting stuff.

Well I am back and what a week :)
I shot way too much and hit less this muzzle loading is tuff lol!

I did score my second buck:deer: a nice 7 point with my good buddy.
He touched off just a milla second before me both were kill shots the buck dropped like a stone nothing is better wacking a buck on the run with your best friend! :party0005:
That afternoon I smacked a doe so we got 50 points and I have had my best season ever two Buck's, a Doe, two Tom's and one Yote :)
We might pull this off boy's?
Bibleman and I will have been on two champion contest teams together then at this rate :)
