Hey guys. Checking in. Hunt in the mountains of VA and some in the Piedmont. To be honest I've been bust for the past couple years and getting all my trophies in the first week of Blackpowder. So you could say I'm due! I'm heading out to Colorado next week for Blackpowder elk hunt so I'll be MIA most of Sept. Don't worry, my season doesn't start until Oct and I'll be back and ready by then.

Sounds good buddy! Dont be afraid to post those elk pics too! My season does not start till Oct also.

Looking forward to my season...I'll be able to hunt a WMA beginning September 19th, and statewide opens on the 24th. Can't wait! If anyone wants to text how things are going and keep in touch throughout the season, feel free. My digits are 93one-TWO31-nine five 5 seven.

I am checking in. Pictures are looking good this year, but then again, they look good every year. I do not know how much I will get to hunt early on, but I plan on being out there with my bow quite a bit to scout for rifle season and such. I will be hunting mainly mid missouri again. I have at least 3 really nice bucks on film so far and a couple of shooter 8's, but I am not going to be too picky if I get a good shot opportunity.

If any of you are on Facebook, PM me and I will add you to my hunting lease group where I have been posting the pictures. I am one of 2 that will bow hunt it this year. We have several rifle hunters but very few bow hunters.

Good to see you again Bilble_man. We didn't do so good last year as a team, but my rifle team did win with the help of my 131" 8 pointer.

kyslayer checking in my season started this morning, not getting out when its 100 degrees here in ky but monday will be my first day with a high of 70, Got some nice bucks on camera this year very excited

Hope you get one kyslayer! As far as captain goes, I vote Talondale. Team name??? Maybe "Just Some Guys". Or we could stick to the normal type with something like spleen splitters or lung lancers or something like that. I kinda like just some guys, but I am weird. I don't care...whatever everyone else likes.

Name doesn't matter to me.. i kinda like the blood trail posse name that I was on last year haha. Maybe cause the avatar pic is from the blood trail of a deer I shot a few years back. it wasnt easy makin that pic fit for an avatar last year hahaha. All in good fun. i honestly don't care what the name is. As long as we win! Haha

Name dont matter to me guys, i hope to just add to the teams score. Checked a camera today and my shooter showed back up after missing for two months, and he has a g5 striker with his name on it.

we need to decide for sure on a team name and a captain. Ill be the captain if you want it doesnt matter but everyone vote only heard a couple opinions

Wasn't there a deadline on the captain choice? I cannot find that in the rules anymore. As long as someone is willing and able to check in everyday and get the information to the contest boss, they should volunteer. I am willing but the everyday part may be a little difficult.

As far as team name, I am in favor of something simple. If we are hunters, then we are all adults and shouldn't have a twelve year old's playground name. I am not trying to take the fun out of this, but I have seen a lot of team names that are ridiculous.

Well, enough of my soapbox, season opens in 2 days and I will be out that evening. We have a cold front coming though tomorrow. High of almost 90 today and tomorrow will be low 70's and mid 60's on Thursday. Perfect wind for my new stand location and I will be in it. I posted the link to a picture and video I had on my camera in another thread down below. I was moving the camera to a different spot and decided to not put it back right there so I won't be tempted to check that camera every couple of days and leave my scent everywhere.

Thanks for taking the lead slayer. They probably will put a couple alternates with us. My hunting will begin next Monday morning! Public land, hard hunting for the first week before statewide opens the next week. I'll still be out there though!

I just left work and should be in my stand in an hour or so. I always love th first hunt of the season. It's 59 degrees with a 5 mph wind from the NE. I'm gonna enjoy it.

yea it was nice weather today in ky high of 65 but unfortunately had to work. O well always this weekend
