RE: Team 3 "Grave Diggers"
RYBO!!!Welcome to the roster, bud. Looks like Team 3 just got a lot better.
I was wonderin' why you weren't on the original signup? You been slacking or what??! This new job's got you all discombobulated.
Hey man, this past Sunday while I was out trying to find some new spots,I was down inGreene County at that farm we hunted last year (the one where the tom wouldn't fly down) - just did a quick drive-bye.Anyway, I saw abeast of agobbler just up the road. This boy is a HAMMER - the first bird I've seen in years with guaranteed1.5"+spurs. I'd stake my life on it.
He was strutting about 10 yards off the road, with a flock of about 8 hens.Mark says "HOLY _____! LOOK AT THE SPURS ON THAT BIRD!" I had him zoomed in at point blank range with the bino's (he wouldn't leave - he was just standing guard while his hens flipped cow patties). Limbhanger for sure. We'll get down there one day and get after 'em again. I guarantee that this bird's hooks stretch out to 1.5. They had a lot of bendto 'em too. Not much beard to him, lucky to push 9.5", but legendaryHOOKS!
We definitely can't hunt the farm that he was on (wallpapered), but I'd suspect that he's roosting elsewhere, in an area where we might be able to get at him. I've got permission to hunt across the road, which is where I think he's roosted. What a bird that was - I'd love to see his head on the bead.
