250 is a bit to far. I personally wouldn't hunt coyotes with a 17 hmr. I own one and love it,but it is a little to small for yotes. Unless you go for head shots. I wouldn't plan on hunting in the wind much either. A .17 hmr is pushed around alot in the wind.
