Well, I hunted all day yesterday, and at the end of the day, had a whole group of toms come in. I took a shot at one and watched as my arrow ruffled his feathers as it went over his back, and he ran off unharmed...so close, yet so far away...ugh. That was my only chance to hunt this weekend, as I have to work on Monday. Hopefully I'll have another chance to hit the woods soon.

I had the best hunt I have ever been on this weekend and it was all great up until the shot... we had two toms that were each with a hen and they just cruised by me and my decoys out of range so after they were passed me I hit the gobble tube and scratched the ground and they spun around and came right in. My buddy took the first shot and shot under one then I shot and thought I smoked him because he went right down and just flopped a few times. So my buddy knocked another arrow and shot again but missed this time too... then after laughing about his shooting and the hunt we thought we would get up and head out with my turkey, then that dang old tom jumped up and ran off never to be found again... sad time for me. Sorry for the book I wrote but I had to vent Im gonna be back out in the woods this weekend!!

Go back out and look under any deadfall or thick stuff. They'll go to water too. He is probably dead....

Headed out in the morning but I am not the primary shooter. Taking a friend who has been working in Iraq for a year and a half and has never turkey hunted. I am taking him where a double might be a possibility though
