Not sure what it is like where you hunt, but I'd never use a decoy like that here, just asking to be shot. We have a lot of idiots here, I've been shot at twice over the years, once without any dekes, and once with a hen decoy when bowhunting. Had the tom at 10 yards just tugging on my bowstring, and BOOM. Do not use dekes at all anymore. I know i'd never let my gaurd down with a deke like that, there are some real idiots out there, or maybe they are just here in PA?

Just got a call from JW. He's as excited as a kid in a candy shop !! Has a bunch of birds lined up and should get lucky tomorrow morning. He'll either call ar try and get in here as soon as he can.
As for myself, our season opens on the 26th. Been seeing a few birds, but they are not talking at all. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope to get lucky with in the first day or two of the opener.
GL guys, keep those birds rolling in !! Were No. 1 !!!!

I am back - just got up as it is 8:48 AM and my throat is sore - I musta snored terribly. I'll post pictures soon with the whole story. I beat my personal best of callin em up close and personal!
And I will reconfirm those inch measurements. The Wt. was taking on a very old Grain Scale we used at the farm we started on. I had the 82 yr old farmer tell me - well how big is it?
Going there to have our birds wieghed has been a tradition!
JW
and have a correction as I re-measured with a far better ruler!
Wt stays as is 20 lb 8 oz
right spur 14/16s
left spur 15/16s
Beard 8 and 10/16s
Your score is 20.5 + 8.75 + 9.375 + 17.25 = 55.875
Dang near blowed his head off - I like to see the fuzz before I take the shot! Shot at 7 paces away
My gun and good Ole Chester CopperPot!
