I'll try throwing some of them down range in the next couple weeks.

Also shooting them out of an 870, and those win supremes (in #5) are the same stuff I used up till this year and shot great (atleast till I tried these, LOL) I'm using a comp n choke 655, which was supposedly gonna be too tight. I wasn't sure what i would get but I was stunnned to see I'm getting about 250 hits in a ten inch circle at 40 yds...approx 90% of the pattern is centered within 18" and very uniform..hard to find gaps bigger than a quarter anywhere in the core. Thirty yards I could miss easily if I don't hold those sights steady and squeeze 'er off. My buddy just tried them in hs 835 and he's getting about 180-200 hits shooting a Mossberg choke but i don't know the constriction. The stuff is just plain nasty!

My Sons and I set-up the blinds in the backyard today, just to make sure they were good to go and that all of our other gear was ready for the upcoming Youth season. It's gettin' sooooo close, all of us are gettin' pretty excited now!

Hard to pick a favorite between these, but I told my 2 boys that they could hunt out of whatever blind they liked the most. I was somewhat surprised when they both chose the cheaper Bone Collector from Ameristep over both of my Double Bulls !!!

Nice looking blinds.

Once I get the DSD decoys set-up in front of 'em.... they are gonna look sexy! ;)

I just need a couple of mature Toms to stand in front 'em for a few seconds.

Turkey Goddess 03-16-2010 01:36 PM

Arrowmaster 03-16-2010 06:24 PM

Only 2 weeks. The IL Youth season is April 3 & 4.

What SUCKS (good news and BAD news) is that I've been laid-off and was actually counting on hunting nearly everyday of the season. Well, they just called me back and informed me that I would be going back to work... on 3rd shift and that they have been working mandatory daily overtime and nearly every Saturday.... man, that's gonna be a problem!

I wonder what they would do if I call-in on the very first week back so I can make that Youth season hunt with my boys that we've waited for ALL year ?!? :bash:

Originally, I was kind of wanting something fancy.... but honestly, I think I like everyone's personal Avatars they already have better. :s4:

Except you need yours zoomed in just a bit more so we can see more of you and that trophy Tom, Arrowmaster

and who doesn't like that sexy lil' self pic of our beloved Turkey Goddess... I don't want to see that Avatar changed... it gives us some sex appeal. It almost makes me want to turkey hunt with her someday! :s4:

My avatars seem to be constantly changing anyway.... who knows what I'm gonna have from one week to the next?

I guess I'll just have to add out Team Name to my sig at the bottom instead?

Turkey Goddess 03-17-2010 12:22 PM

IL -

Congrats on getting called back to work, although I can certainly understand how you'd be a little frustrated too - with turkey season right around the corner!!! I've been laid-off since November and I had an interview yesterday and another one tomorrow... Crossing my fingers!!! Bittersweet - but I hope it works out for u!!!

Regarding the avatars - LOL IL!!!! I think you made me blush!!! ;) Turkey hunting together someday would be COOL!!!

I agree, Arrowmaster needs his avatar zoomed.... so we can see that bird!!! (seeing him wouldn't be bad either... LOL)

I think I'll put our team name in my signature too. Keep on keepin' on team 2!!!

The rush is coming I can feel it. I love it.

firelt72 03-18-2010 01:18 AM

I have seen Arrow.....the picture is fine where it is. The bird was fantastic though. If you ever get to hunt with arrow it is a good time. We made some great memories last year together in MO. He tagged...I ate mine. I couldn't buy one at Kroger.....

Thats funny to, my late Uncle used to always tell me, "If I spent half as much money as you do on deer and turkey hunting.... I'd buy BEEF!" :s2:

Turkey Goddess 03-18-2010 04:54 AM

LOL You guys crack me up!!!!! I'm definitely going to have to be more careful, to read these posts WITHOUT a mouthful of coffee!!! LMAO Geez!

I love a good laugh - just need to do a little clean-up on Aisle 4..... ;)

Arrowmaster 03-18-2010 02:42 PM

Please welcome our new team member bigbuckspa13 Glad to have you bigbucks

Howler 03-19-2010 07:53 AM

Welcome aboard bigbuckspa.....With the current snow storm going on here right now, kinda makes me want to go back out calling coyotes some more, and put turkeys on the back burner.

Howler 03-19-2010 08:19 AM

Here's a pic. from last spring back on my farm in KS. I had just shot my 2nd bird, he's just out of the pic. to the right and he knocked over the one decoy while flopping around after I hit him with the bullhead, but as you can see, there's a few turkeys back there.

IL-Cornfed 03-19-2010 08:24 AM

WOW,..... Howler, that about an entire seasons worth of Gobbler sightings here in Illinois!!! Man, I swear I should move to KS!

car 03-19-2010 11:16 AM

Oh no. My wife heard a tom shock gobble this morning when I slam the trunk lid. Now I have to wait until April 19th to take him out.

Turkey Goddess 03-19-2010 11:36 AM

Welcome to the winning team bigbuckspa!!! :) Happy to have you on-board!!!

Nice pic Howler - WOW - hard to swallow the jealousy here!!! DANG!!!

Had a little fun tonight. After I got home I could see a few turkeys moving back in my woods. I was watching them with my bino and I could see this real tall tom coming out of the wood. He looked like he was twice as big as the 9 hens that I was watching. After the tom cleared the wood I started laughing. He must have had his beard break off. It looked like it was only 2". There was no way he was a jake. He looked like he would have 22 lbs or more. He stood twice as tall as the hens. Go figure lol :)

car

Howler 03-20-2010 07:01 AM

They can have their beards "busted" off. A buddy of mine shot a tom about 3 years ago that had spurs nearly 2" long, but only had a beard that was 2 1/2" long. The beard had a lot of thickness to it, so we just guessed that it got busted off sometime or another. That bird had the longest spurs that I have ever seen. He had it mounted, course, I would've too.

IL-Cornfed 03-20-2010 02:48 PM

Remember that they can also have "beard rot" and when a Tom is infected with this the beard ends will be yellowish colored on the ends where it was the most fragile and broke off. I've seen it on a numbe of mature Toms.

IL-Cornfed 03-20-2010 02:54 PM

When the kids got home from school yesterday we headed to the farm to let 'em make sure their Turkey cannon was still zero'd in and I also wanted to test some of the brand new Hevi-13 Magnum Blend loads, 3", 2oz, #5, 6, 7 .

All I can say is WOW!!! Talk about a turkey shreddin' round! I can't wait to see a Tom get attacked by a killer swarm of Magnum Blend ?!?

Here's a 40 yarder.... whats impressive is that it was fired by my 9 year old !!!

Turkey Goddess 03-20-2010 03:43 PM

DANG IL!!!! That turk is DEAD!!! haha LOL

Your 9 year old is gonna be a turkey slayer this year!!! LOVE IT!!! :) I bet he was excited!

Awesome!!!!!!

Kim :)
