JW Thanks for opening up the Team thread JW!! Ahhh - man it feels good here in the champion's team thread. Think I'll kick my shoes off and sit a spell. We have at least 3+ months more to wallow in our glory. Life is good boys and girls.:party::party::party: |

MC As for the avatar, I agree it won't change our luck, but it says Team 21, there will be another 21 and we are #1. I'll test the montage but I bet it will be too small and smudgy to make out any detail. |
Trev
Hog made the avatar last year and I'm sure he still has it. Should be an easy matter to get him to change 21 to 1 MC |
So, where is everyone else?
Sure the season isn't here yet, but I'm getting pumped! Doing some patterning and scouting, even found a lady friend that has the safety course and wants to join me so I picked up a bargain full choke single shot as a backup/partner gun. I guess fl.huntress gets out there 1st for us? I can't start till end of April. |
Yea no kidding. I'm sure they will drift back in. I PMed everybody but it seems that nobody is back on the board regularily but you, me and doall.
Going to the NWTF annual convention is the spark that annually starts my fire. Getting ready to polish the barrels of our turkey guns. I also want to check out the pattern of this new Hevi-shot Magnum Blend load we got last week in Nashville. Got the calls going - I'm about ready. The youth season starts here March 27, which is a month away. I don't get serious about scouting until a couple weeks before that. We've seen 100+ hens at the feeders on some of our family ground. The gobblers are there too, 20 or so were seen by my father in one big group a couple weeks ago. |
hey guys!! i'm in but didn't get drawn for any florida hunts but i still have south carolina...i'm down but not out.
|
btw, i never got an email or any messages.......but i'm here :)
|
Here I is. What what!:cool2:
|
Just shecking in with everyone looking forward to another fun season of turkey hunting. Saw two nice gobblers tonight when I was out looking for sheds. Found a full set off a ten point tonight too. Well good luck team. Our season here in Ohio dosen't come in till April 19th. Well later

Annette, I may have typed your email address wrong or something, probably my fault. Glad to have you back. Sorry about you not getting drawn for Florida but I know you will connect in S.C. Good to have pinsapex and Swamp back too. Looks like most of the gang is checked in except WestinAU, squirlkilla23 and mobuckhunter79. I keep trying to reach them with no luck thus far. Since mobuck and squirlkilla were no-shows last season JW has agreed to replace them with subs if they don't check in soon. I am willing to bet that WestinAU will show up sometime. Been seeing a lot of turkeys on our leases and family ground. My father saw 100+ hens around one of our feeders last week and a group of 20 gobblers a couple weeks ago on the same farm. Between that and the NWTF convention in Nashville a couple of weekends ago Peter and I are ready to get after them. Good luck to everyone and lets have some fun again this season. MC |
what happened to the easy browse for your image feature? I wanna post our montage of us winning but can't figure out this new format.
If anyone wants it again full size let me know, if anyone has figured out the new site format I can send them full sized or smaller for posting. PM me w/e-mail address |
|
How is it goin boys and girls! Looking foward to the turkey season. Every now and always I say to myslef " Man I wish I was in the spring woods today." Well It wont be to long now!
|
Will send it Tom.
Sorry but I've been on the road a lot. Weak WiFi signals on lap top and file is on my PC at home. Good to see a few more have checked in. I'm having choke tube troubles (can't get the modified out), but no worries, I have checked in with guys in the gu forum, have decent 30yrd patterns as is, and also have access to friends gun cabinets :-) |
Birds are gobbling around here!
A good friend of mine (good hunter too) went out listening and heard 12 or 13 different turkeys gobbling from the roost. That is enough to get me out of the house to see if I can hear some too. It has been really warm the past few days so I am not surprised that a pretty morning got a few of them fired up enough to let out a gobble or two. 18 more days till the opening of the youth weekend, 25 more days until Tennessee statewide season opens. |
Montage has been sent to you Captain (I hope you're not on dial-up).
I bet our newbie members would be interested in your summary of our win. I wonder if a search can find that because it would go great with the montage in the Smack Talk thread. Good news is I did get the modified choke outta my Mossberg, so patterning can now continue past 30yrds looking for the perfect combination of choke and load. The cheapy single shot I bought for the lady friend looks like its limited to 30yrds no matter what load we use, but thats OK because shes on Team 9. LOL |

LOL[/quote] LOL - This may be the funniest line of the year posted on this website. I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. Good one Trevor - just don't let your girlfriend catch wind of this. Otherwise she might start looking at those shells your loading wondering if they are blanks. MC |
I will be hunting with my mathews reezen 7.0 I bought before deer season. If it gets close to the end again I will break out the over and under. Good luck team.

I also haven't heard back from WestonAU or mobuckhunter79 either. Disappointed about Weston as he participated in the contest last year and killed a bird. Mobuckhunter was a no-show and his last post on the site was March, 2009. |
I've sent him A PM inviting him to come up and check in.
His full handle is outdoorillin46D. Hopefully he shows up, he's new to the forums but there is a dead bird in his avatar pic. |

I believe he is a replacement for squirrelkilla, who was a no-show last year. I asked Arrow for two more subs for WestonAU and mobuckhunter79. Disappointed about Weston - I think he killed the first turkey for our team llast season if I'm not mistaken. I never expected mobuckerhunter to show up, as he never showed-up last year. What's with people who sign up for something like this then disappear??? These must be the same folks that throw garbage and beer cans out the carwindow into my yard and knock my mailbox down at least once a year. MC |
Hey I got a pm saying that I was an alternate for team 1. Do I just count if someone decides to back out or isn't able to draw a tag? I also think I checked in on the sign up thread as well. Regardless, I will be hunting in Mich and Illinois this Spring.
Nice to meet everyone |
hahah sorry guys I didn't read the previous few post. i guess that I am on the team. i'm feeling some pressure since you guys are the defending champs, but I will hopefully be able to contribute.
|
Welcome Kevin. No pressure dude, its all just for fun and bragging rights. Glad to have you on board.
Sorry if I confused you by calling you an alternate, you are a full member of the team, you are replacing a guy that signed up then disappeared last year. Turns out we didn't really need him and won the big show short handed anyways. Mouthcaller is our captain, our name is The Last Gobble, and we used to be team 21 but automatically became Team #1 this year as defending champs. |

Welcome to the team and we are really glad to have you. This is a really fun contest and I want to repeat tschaef's comments that you should not feel pressure to contribute at all. The purpose is to have fun and meet some new people here in cyperspace who love to turkey hunt. We have a good mix if young and "experienced" hunters from several states including a crazy "furiner" from somewhere in the frozen north where it snows constantly. The only thing I ask as captain is that you contribute as much as you can to the team thread, encourge others, and have fun. That's it brother. We probably got a little lucky last year, but we'll take it. Out of the 9 of us that actually "showed up" 7 teammembers checked a bird. Two of those were very high-scoring double bearded turkeys (tschaef and Fl.huntress) which really helped our score. We got off to a roaring start and kept the momentum going. Tschaef took that 80pt double beard in Canada then Pinsapex put us over the top by putting down the bow and busting a jake near the end of the season and we pulled it off. FYI - my son is doallhunter and a teammember of The Last Gobble. His birthday is Friday and he'll be 14. Welcome once again to the best team in the contest, the defending champions, Team #1, The Last Gobble MC |

Welcome once again to the best team in the contest, the defending champions, Team #1, The Last Gobble MC While I'm not a betting man... of the two team members who didn't kill birds last year... I'd put money that at least one of them (me) is going to be coming back with all the wrath and fury of The Almighty on them this spring. First year in the last 9 I haven't tagged a minimum of one. |
Please welcome your new teammates oneshotgilly and VB40

First year in the last 9 I haven't tagged a minimum of one. Andy - I've been known to place a bet or two and I'm not scared to wager that you will start a new streak in 2010 :fighting0007: |

All right - we have a full team now! |
This is great. I can't believe it took me so long to find this forum. Pretty cool that there is a father son combo on the team as well. Also, are we going to be making avatars for the team?
oneshotgilly and VB40. Welcome! |
Welcome to all the new members of the team. And hello to everyone else.Still got a month or so before season. Can't wait to get started.
|
Welcome oneshot and gilly. Your in good company here, looking forward to hearing from you.
Everything is coming together up here in the great white north. Got my stuck choke tube out, bought some bolts for the x-bow, and some arrows for the compound (no sunday gun hunting). Toronto sportsman show is around the corner, Adrian J Hare (a member) is doing a seminar on calling so I plan to sit in on that. Haven't seen the birds on the farm in a while but they are still in flocks up here, and the flocks are nearby. Plus there is always public land if they don't show by mid-season. It won't be long now boys and girls. Cheers |

oneshotgilly and VB40. Welcome! One of our teammembers, Hoghuntingunlimited (Hog) made the avatar that is in tschaef's post. He has the original file. We are waiting for him to remove the "2" from last years "Team 21", thus making it "Team 1". We'll get it done and circulated. |

We'll get it done and circulated. Can we put a big gaudy Burger King-esque crown on our turkey as well just to remind everyone who is on the throne? |
Welcome new members and good luck. Got one more shed today and been starting to see more birds in the fields. Later
