Just got back from Texas. The hunting was tough. Not very many birds and windy conditions, but I managed to get one. He is a really good bird. He weighed 21 pounds 10 oz., had a 9.5" beard, one spur 1 1/4" and the other 1". He scores 63.125. This will upgrade my first bird. Congrats to your son. Now go get you one.

Guys, I got the stickers today. The only address I have so far is RJPOUTDOORS. If you want a sticker, pm me your address. I'll be back chasing my Louisiana birds for the next two weekends and then I'll be off to Texas again at the end of the month.

Tedrow, are you talking about the old Rem. Hevi shot? If so, they shoot great out of my Rem. 870 SPS-T 12 ga. with a Jellyhead choke. I took my first bird of the season with the old Rem. hevi shot mag. 3 1/2" 5 shot. The only shell I have found that patterns better than the old Rem. Hevi shot is the Rem. Wingmaster HD 3 1/2" 6 shot. I killed my Texas Rio this past weekend with the HD at 51 yards, and it destroyed its head.

Just called the landowner of my favorite spot and she said she hasn't heard much gobbling lately. I still have 22 days until the season starts, hopefully things will pick up by then. Its a small piece of property but the birds usually roost there during the season. If I don't score soon after fly down, its hit or miss there, but its a great place to be during sun-up

yep the old stuff lol. i started using it when it first came out then they stopped making it! i was listening to the radio one day and a sports shop advertised they were selling the last of it they had for 50% off. i now have 5 boxes of 3.5 #6s. my benelli shoots great i just was thinking of getting a shorter gun. some of the places i hunt are thick with alot of sapplings. i hate to get rid of the benelli ive killed alot of birds with it, but it dont hurt to look. what oz loads do you use. mine are all1 7/8oz.
