Dang Mottz. Looks like you'll have a bunch of 2 year olds come next year. Its allways good to see a good hatch.

Mottz 05-16-2011 04:50 PM

That is a bonus, for next year. But I want a big ole tom this year. I still want to see us teammates again next year. We've claimed the views and replies on our team thread so far and we are just that close to getting ahead in the contest. I just don't want to be the guy that has had the longest season of all of us and couldn't get it done.

If you were the guy with the longest season and you were not eaven tryin to get it done that would be different. But you have been givin it one hell of an effort Mottz! Plus you have gotten a bird already, hope you don't feel too much pressure and your still havin fun with it! It's gotta be tough with a family and all you have goin on to make the time to get out there, I know i sure couldn't do it right now!!

Thats a cool trail cam pic!!! And it reminds me, i've got 2 cams out right now that i haven't checked since the 24th of April!!! I should prob go pull them things one of these days!!!!

Well, looks like I am officially done for the season. Got told to work again this weekend. I really enjoyed being on the team with all yall and hope to be doin it again next spring with ya. We all need to keep in touch on here and if ya ever want to come to Oklahoma for a hunt I may not have the private land lined up but I do have some excellent public that I would be happy to point ya in the right direction. I'll probably (will) be there myself for all 3 deer seasons and both turkey seasons. If the birds are there like they were this year I will get one with the bow in October.

If things go good I'm gonna have to get the bow out and go practice on a hog before the deer season gets here.

Good luck to you guys still out there.

Hey Kelly,
I was just down in Oklahoma in March hunting hogs. We were in Gracemont, which is about 10 minutes from Anadarko. We had a good time and killed some good hogs. Those things are more skiddish that I thought. I was a good time though. Are you in the Anadarko area?

Im just east of there about 45 min to 1 hour or so down I-40. I live in Moore but would be hunting them more than likely in the Pauls Valley area.

I think the hogs are pretty much starting to take over the whole state. I have even seen them in a pretty good size neighborhood. I havn't been hunting them in quite a while but I'm looking forward to it. Its a pay to access land but it is supposed to be loaded.

I've always wanted to try hog hunting. Sounds like a fun way to get some groceries!!! Is there a season in OK. or is it yr round?

Its year round here. The only regs are that during a big game season you are only allowed to hunt with what is in season at that time and have the appropriate tags for that season. Ex. deer gun, deer archery.

Some of the public lands have there own set of regulations but most follow the state regs.

If you get down by the red river they are supposed to be everywhere. I haven't been down there yet but hope to in the future. Plus I could always hit the striper's at Lake Texhoma. :)

Here I go again. Gonna give it another shot in the morning. My neighbor came home this afternoon with a nice tom. He tried the fan in front of the face and walked towards it and it came running right at him. Still have next weekend then I'll be ready to hang it up. Hope I can say that after tomorrow!

Good luck. I'm still planning on hitting Kansas for a 3 day hunt, but I'm not as enthuastically motivated as the beginning of the season. If it wasn't for the 2 contests I'm in, I would probably go fishing instead. With still a shot for first here, and a good chance for 3rd in my other contest, I need to get out there, especially since about any Tom would be an upgrade on my 56. I've spent so much cash the last 30 days, that I should stay home, but at 64, there won't be much longer that staying home is going to be physically forced on me. Live your life while you can has always been my motto.
