Well team, heres my story! Halloween was my first sit, and i made it out and got set up in the same tree i shot a doe out of last year. I didn't really see alot of movement, just a couple of doe's early on. I told myself i would sit till 1030, and then head out for some lunch. I checked my clock at ten, and decided i would stay till eleven. At 1030, i turned my can over twice and grunted a few times. I set everything down, and looked up only to see a deer headed right for me! I picked up my bow, and was quickly disheartended to see it was a 4 point. However, i quickly caught a glimpse of another deer trailing the 4 point, only a much larger body. The 4 point passed by at 20 yards, and after catching glimpses of the 2nd deer, readied myself for a possible shot. When the 2nd deer came around the pine tree, I was at full draw and decided after a quick look to try to harvest this buck. I decided that as soon as this buck stopped i would release an arrow. One problem, when i thought he was stopping, i sent the arrow only to have him take one last step. I saw the arrow hit about 6" behind the shoulder, and heard it hard on this buck. He mule kicked and ran 40 yards only to stop and stand for ten minutes!! I could literally see this buck's horns and body shaking hard. I kept repeating "anytime now he will fall over". Well he didnt, I turned to look at another deer approaching below me, only to look back and see a large bush that was next to my buck topple over and then 4 footsteps. I ranged my arrow which was laying on the ground at 14 yards. I sat till 11, and then climbed down and looked at my arrow to find one speck of blood, fat, whitebelly hair and a green substance on my arrow. I was 90% sure i had put a good hit on this deer, but the arrow said different. I opted to back out and wait till 330 to try and recover him. At 330 with the help of my uncle i went back and I went directly to the bush where i had last seen the buck, only to not find him there. My heart instantly sank, only to instantly jump out of my chest as my uncle who was below me started yelling that i had got him!! Well to shorten this up, i had hit the buck hard, only to have my arrow enter his right side, turn 180 degrees, and exit down by his cojognes! Hence why my arrow had all different indicators on it! This buck is not my best, will not make record books, but I'm proud of him! I have always wanted a Halloween buck, and this fighter fits my wishes! I will get him scored later this week, and post the results. Good luck to all still hunting, it will only get better from hear on out!

Hey Lumpie
A huge slap on the back buddy, congrats to you for not pushing him right away and an awesome looking buck at that. Hat's off to you my friend. Stand has your stamp till something changes the course of the property. Good luck if you still have tags to fill.

Well guys I have one for the score board. Shot him last nite waited 4 hrs and went back and found him within 40yards of where i last seen him.
Heres a picture of him taken this am. Not the best picture but it is the best I have. I will get a score and story up later today. He should gross in the 150's I think.

youngfart 11-08-2010 04:50 AM

CamoKenny
Hey Kenny, that's a fine 4x4 or does it have a 5th on the right, the picture is pretty blurry.Has some good mass too, congrats on a great buck teammate, now if I could only get out and get some time on stand. Have to wait till Thursday.

shawneeslinger 11-08-2010 04:56 AM

That's a great buck. Way to go. Looks like I'm going to get in the woods tomorrow, and then all of next week.

youngfart 11-08-2010 04:57 AM

Hey Guys N Gal
We need the other 3 to get their animals scored and posted . Looks that we'd be in second as it stands right now.
Rocky:rant:

blakefrautschi 11-08-2010 05:32 PM

well today we went back to look for my dad's buck.... followed the trail a good 250-300 yards, down a hill... then up a hill, "puddles" of blood until we got to the top of the hill, we found a spot where we think he may have bedded, but after that we only found 4 or 5 drops of blood, then grid searched, i looked for about 2 hours, my dad was out before that for a good 4 or 5.... hoping that maybe the crow's will find him and lead us too him later this week..... or he somehow made it through!

i'll be back out in stand thursday till sunday!

and CONGRATS kenny! that a real nice buck!

camokenny 11-09-2010 04:44 AM

Well team heres the score on my buck. He is a 6x4 but gross scored okay. 152 4/8

2nd pt 9 4/8
3rd pt 6 4/8

2nd 3 7/8
3rd 3 4/8
4th 2 4/8

left main beam 24 0/8
1st pt 6 3/8
2nd pt 11 7/8
3rd pt 8 0/8

2nd 4 1/8
3rd 3 7/8
4th 2 7/8

Total = 152 4/8 (152 1/2)

Grunted him in to ten yards and thought that i had got a double lung hit but as he was going away I saw that he was slightly quartering to me and got one lung and liver-guts. Watched him lay down 3 times so I snuck out and went back 4 hrs later and he was laying where i last seen him . Now i can go shoot some does and fill my turkey tags.

camokenny 11-11-2010 04:26 AM

Rocky are u going to post to the score board or does each member have to do that?

youngfart 11-11-2010 04:04 PM

Kenny
You have to post it in the scoring thread and then Christine will make it legit, again ,congrats on a great buck bud.

1st Full Day Sit

Very uneventfull, till 2pm when 2 calf moose made there way out of there bedding area.Trouble was they only gave me a 70 yard shot. Not in my life time,:kt:. Then at 3 I tried rattling and from out of no where a 5x5 is staring in my direction and I still had the antlers in my hands:barmy:. LMAO anyways he ended up coming and turning broadside at 27 yards,BUT behind heavy brush and a few trees, He then saw that there was nothing that was going to try and beat him up and walk leasurely away giving me only a butt shot. Passed on that, that was it for my honey hole,I think the deer are still not chasing as he wasn't even with his nose to the ground and not tending grunting. What do I know huh! It's my 1st time out in a week, for all I know the rut can be over:arms:. Will be back out Saturday and Sunday. Good luck folks and where your safety belts.

Hey Yall, I'm headed to the farm for a week. Hopefully I can get it done before the gun opener on Friday. Would love to see a full score sheet when I get back. Happy Hunting.

Rocky

blakefrautschi 11-21-2010 03:52 PM

well gun hunting started this weekend in Wisco, shot another doe, not buck movement at all.... might get out after gun season a few times.

LadysEdge 11-21-2010 07:37 PM

Hi guys....just got back from two weeks at the farm hunting. I shot a really nice 10 point on Nov. 11th....two days before gun season opened in MO. He roughed scored 132. Unfortunately, I have no clue how to put pictures up. I can email them to one of you if thats ok and you post them for me. I shot a great 8 point that roughed 138 on the first Monday of gun season but I am proudest of my archery buck. I rattled him in and it was freakin awesome!!!
Thanks
Diann

youngfart 11-21-2010 07:45 PM

Lady's Edge
That's awesome ,was wondering where you have been,as soon as one of the guys show up, I'm sure they'll be able to help you post your pictures up. Congrats on a great buck and feat .
Rocky:barmy:

shawneeslinger 11-22-2010 06:52 AM

Well, a weeks worth of pretty hard hunting and I've got nothing to contribute to the scoreboard as of yet. Has lots of young bucks everywhere but only saw 2 shooters the whole time. One was about 400 yards across a field, and the other was about 70 yards in some very thick brush. Needless to say, there's a lot of season left and will be making several more trips to the woods. Good Luck and Happy Thanksgiving.

youngfart 11-27-2010 07:15 PM

Well I got one On The Ground
He's a good meat buck at least, man the morning started of with a bang,I got in my stand after placing Will in his at 7:15at 7:20 2 does made there way by me at 18 yards. I tickled with the idea with trying a shot with the low light conditions as 1st light wasn't for another 1/2 hour. Due to the 1/2 moon and the reflection it was quite doe able. I chose to pass and was hoping a buck was on their tail. No chance, didn't have to wait long as a 5x3 showed up at 7:55 at 23 yards and was an easy shot. Pass again, at 8:02 he stepped out and stopped broadside enticing me to shoot, passed again. He walked passed me and then I noticed the left antler had 3 more points than I thought their was, dang to late. He flared his nostrils and turned his head back my way and smelled the Timber Valley Deer Scent ( 4-play )
It was like he was on a rope and went straight to it and put his nose to the ground as I drew he glanced up at me and saw no movement and he continued to paw the ground. I touched the release and off to the races he was. Man he did the 60 yard dash in record time crashing at the end to a huge crashing sound. I pumped my arm saying to my self good on ya !!. I though I hit him high and let him freeze up hopefully. Will came by and we tracked him quite fast and to both our amazement ,it was like he was waiting for the picture's to commence.
He crashed and slid the last 15 feet and hooked his left antler around the tree and rested against some deadfall like he was posing for pictures. Will said with that great big grin he's noted for there's your buck Rock.End to a great day on stand,he ended up having broken off about 15 inches of off 3 points and the left tip of his main beam from fighting which would have had him scoring close to 143. He ended up with a score of 128 3/8's

finner 11-28-2010 02:29 PM

Congrats on a great buck Rocky, way to go brother! he sure was a warrior.

Its been rifle season here so i been out deer camp for the last week trying my luck with a the gun, but no luck either, its sure been a tough season for me on seeing bucks. Ill be back bowhunting come December wich can be really good hunting here once they start there migration south to the yards, then its possible to see 20 deer or more per sit.

shawneeslinger 11-28-2010 05:11 PM

Way to go Rocky. Im with you Finner as its been difficult seeing big deer. My cameras still have most of the mature bucks moving only at night. The last main gun rush in IL is this weekend. Hopefully after that, things will get back to normal.

blakefrautschi 11-28-2010 06:12 PM

Congrats Rocky! Gun season is now done in wisco, i'll wait a couple of weeks and hopefully they'll start moving for me in the day again! might still get some bone for the wall this year!

blakefrautschi 11-28-2010 06:27 PM

I jsut checked the score card and we still need to get Lumpie's buck up!!!! and LAdysedge!!!

blakefrautschi 11-28-2010 06:30 PM

because if we had those on the board... i'm pretty sure we'd have a bit over 600 inches, therefore 1st place!

youngfart 11-28-2010 08:56 PM

Blake
Lumpie is still hunting and on holidays and said he'll post it as soon as he gets back, as for Lady's Edge I pm'd her and still no reply. Thanks team for the kind words.
