That's a pretty nice deer there, I hope to add to our score come December. I'm doing a management hunt north of me and we get one any sex tag and one antlerless tag. This place is a wildlife refuge that holds a lot of good size bucks.

Well, i finally got the camera unloaded. I got 4 does on the ground with a gun, but didn't get any horns with my muzzy for Ia Early Season ML. Bagged a decent 8 yesterday with my bow, it was my first buck with a bow. Not huge, but decent for my first one. Heading to Missouri Friday to play with the big boys, and have seen some monsters late this summer while scouting down there. Hopefully I can run into one! Attached are some pics.

RenaissanceBiker 11-09-2009 07:36 AM

Woo Hoo! Team 13 rocks!

ETA: I just checked the archives for last year's contest. The winning team scored 467 7/8 points by getting two big bucks, a medium buck, and three does. Meansy67's doe will put us at 306 2/8. We could put this thing away with just two more medium bucks and a good doe effort. Go get 'em boys!

4. Will be using the Boone & Crockett Gross scoring system,
Green scores w/ no deductions.

I apologize, guys. My buck grossed 133 4/8. Wit 4 inches of deductions, I reported 129 4/8 in the official scorecard. I posted a correction but I don't know if we'll get it. Remember to post the gross score with no deductions!

Arkansasmountainman 11-10-2009 02:00 AM

question? if i kill a biiger buck will it replace the one already counted

Arkansasmountainman 11-10-2009 02:08 AM

AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RenaissanceBiker 11-10-2009 03:10 AM

According to this, if you shoot a better buck you can post it to the score thread and the better of the two will count. You only get to submit two so if your third buck is even bigger it won't count. At that point you should probably just shut up and grin though!

dman4505 11-10-2009 09:44 AM

those are some nice scores up there, hope to add to it come December

Don

Meansy67 11-10-2009 12:48 PM

Congrats to everyone so far. Hopefully i can add to the score with a nice MO buck here in the next couple weeks. Did we ever decide on a team name and Avatar? It would be kind of embarrasing for the winning team to not have these things!

RenaissanceBiker 11-10-2009 12:53 PM

I'm not picky. Whatever you want a team name to be is fine with me. If you like the avatar I'm using I can put the team name on that or I can make a different one suited for the name.

Arkansasmountainman 11-11-2009 02:18 AM

by the way renissancebiker thats an awsome buck you killed...
I havent a clue as to what would be a good name, because every catchy sayin is already used on tv.... so if its ok to copy a name off tv maybe whitetail freaks or buck madness, buck comanders i really dont know

jrbsr 11-11-2009 02:32 AM

How about ( Team Hog Tied ) like all the big bucks are hog tied.

RenaissanceBiker 11-11-2009 12:07 PM

The other guys in my club are giving me a hard time because I decided to do a european mount with him. They say I'm crazy for not doing a traditional shoulder mount. At the beginning of the season I told myself if I got a good buck I would do a european mount because it would be different. I just thought it would look cool next to last year's shoulder mounted 9-point. One guy even said, "It's going to look like you just found him on the side of the road!" I'm the one that gets to sit in my Lazy Boy and look at him.

Well it ISSSSSS your buck, to do with how ever you want.

I think it would look good, and you could have the picture of you on your truck with the buck painted on the top of the skull.

Thay would really look good to me.

This pcture,

Arkansasmountainman 11-11-2009 08:21 PM

there is nothing wrong with euro mounts they look awsome

dman4505 11-22-2009 04:56 AM

I agree European mounts look good
I'll be away for a few days, going to Tucson Arizona for a wedding Friday after Thanksgiving. Will be having Thanksgiving dinner with the new daughter in law and her family. I knoe I've brought it up before but now that we have a full team, if we could come up with some suggestions for team names that would be cool. What ever sounds good to you guys would be cool with me.

Don

RenaissanceBiker 11-23-2009 12:20 PM

I talked to a buddy of mine in Raleigh and he said he would make the mounting plaque for me. He said he would do it for a six-pack of Newcastle Brown Ale. I've seen some of the furniture he makes so I took him a 12-pack. What I got is made of solid walnut, stained and beautifully finished. This euro mount is gonna look cool.

Here's the current score:

Teams 7 and 20 are catching up to us. I might go out Wednesday morning, but I have to go to the in-laws for the weekend so that will be it until December. I really need it to get colder here.

Somebody please pick a name.

ETA: Team 7 just scored another buck. They are going to take the lead.

louddrummer69 11-25-2009 11:16 AM

Sorry guys no buck for me. Worst rut I can remember. I will more than likely be with bow for the rest of the season. I might head out during muzzleloader. Good luck and I'll let you know.

dman4505 11-30-2009 07:38 PM

Hope to add one come the weekend of December 19 - 20, will be doing a management hunt at DeSoto Wildlife Refuge that weekend. I've seen some big boys out there.

Don

RenaissanceBiker 12-01-2009 03:25 AM

Good luck. I'm still trying to bag another doe. I know where she crosses the logging road, I just can't seem to catch her doing it. One time I sat there waiting for her and a cold front moved through. I put the rifle down to put on my gloves and that when she crossed. Since then I keep seeing her fresh tracks, but I can't be there when she does it.

I think we should say that the next man to get a deer names the team.

dman4505 12-02-2009 07:59 PM

You heard it guys next one to get a deer, doe or buck, gets to name the team.
You'll need to post a pic here for us all to see.

Don

Arkansasmountainman 12-04-2009 07:56 AM

i cant find time to get in the woods lately... we need 2 more good bucks

RenaissanceBiker 12-04-2009 09:03 AM

Yeah, I think we're in 4th place now! I am going to sit on that road again tomorrow morning. It's going to be relatively cold and wet this weekend (might snow Sunday!) so I might catch that doe.

Good luck everyone and be safe.
