well team, im changin it up a bit this weekend and im going duck hunting for my first time ever. I am so excited!! well, I wish those of you who are hutning this weeknd, whatevre it is taht you may be hunting, good luck!

Im guessing a handful of you guys have already had bowseason start, mine isnt until Oct 4. Anyone seeing good sign, mast, rubs, etc.? I think I have a mature 10 pt I have two pics of that I will track down before the season is up, does anyone have one down already or have any bruisers they are watching? Just wondering, or guessing how we will do as a team this year.

Well, I busted my ass at work this week to be able to hunt the Illinois opener!!
I leave tonight for 4 days. 2 days at one spot with my dad, then I'll drive further south for 2 days with a buddy of mine.

The weather forecast is as good as I have seen for the opener.
Mid 60's compared to mid 90's the past 2 seasons!
Usually not much happening in the early season, crops still standing and all. But it beats workin!!!!!!
Will report on any sightings and/or kills!

Im pumped to get in stand Saturday morning. I pulled my cameras on two hangers and have a 4x4 and 4x5 that have been cruising directly under (5 yrds from tree):arms:. The last 4 evenings they were both in range between 5:45 and 6:45 going at the minerals. Im giving it an 80% I will drop one of them if they continue the pattern.

So whats the deal....same as last year, the first one posted is the only one you can claim for your entry?

so its been really cold and dreary this week here in WI. so it should be great hunting. and there is a ridiculous cold snap. supposed to call for high 20's sunday night. so im hopin they are up and moving. its not gonna be the most pleasant hunt cause o the rain and obv the cold but this is what we dream about 10 months outa the year and a cant kill them from the dorm!

Get those Jan. clothes on O4L and get after em. You might want to fling a few arrows with your gear on just to check clearance. Be careful getting into your stand it sounds like you might be dealing with some ice. Hope you bag us a biggun!!!

Well Guys I hit one tonight. Nice eight pointer but I hit a branch and it went into the guts looking for it tomorrow.... Could get us on the boards (120 -130 class buck)

Dang, I wish I was up there PaBT. I'd bring Vars over there and we'd find that bad boy. Sounds like you're pretty confident. You did the rt. thing leaving it til tomorrow. Good luck!!!! I'll save the congrats til tomorrow. I don't want to jinx you. Take those pic's.

Hey guys, no biggun down on the opener. I passed on a nice 6 point at 15 yards, he was just too young with great potential.

I did whack a fat doe on Saturday morning, she milled around for 2 hours before giving me a shot.

PA, how did you make out on the recovery, any luck???

nice doe! and i didnt see anythin this weekend but turkeys. roomate and i hung a set on saturday mornign after sittin and he sat in it that aftrernoon and put the smack down on a fat doe. so it was pretty good. :)

Hey Guys! I searched high and low for that buck. But nothing not even a drop of Blood. NOTHING.... Sick in my stomach but I will get back up and do it again. Minus the branch this time....

I have a feeling today (wednesday) is going to be the day! I found a nice pin oak thats big enough for the first set of pins on my climber and rubs within 10 ft and two scrapes opposite the tree, which is 10 ft from creek. I checked the tracks in the creek bed and looks like a highway. Its on the way to and from standing corn and soybeans less than 1/4 mile. Im going to put the little one on the bus at 8 am and will be climbing the pin oak by 8:30 and sit all day. I wont come down until dusk, or I nail a biggun coming through to bed after getting a tumy full, or get one getting ready to get in line at the feeding grounds.

The way I look at it, Im gonna get them coming or going, or maybe just a random deer looking for a good drink from the creek before heading to bed down. It looks like a dream spot, but who knows, I may be on here tomorow night talking about the 10,00 squirrels I had to deal with.

Im read as I will always be, and if not tomorrow, Saturday has all the right signs to be a great hunting day all the way around. Im stoked to be a bowhunter.....and my BH's need bone and blood!

Not me, I think I'm relaxing this weekend.
Wisconsin's forecast is horrible, rain and snow, high of 39.
And Illinois has the youth shotgun season, so bowhunters have to wear orange. Still was tempted but, no thanks.

"Snow"!!!!! I can't imagine that. We've set 4 record highs the past 4 days. It was 92 at 9 this morning. I can't wait to get to some cooler weather. 2 more wks!!

lol. this week in WI isn't supposed to get above 45!!! :) i cant wait!!!! but its the t-zone (only doe hunt) this weekend. I'm going over by a friend of mine in the CWD zone and we are get a bunch im hoping. :) the frezer is running awfully low.. :(

I hope things pick up this wk. end for you guys that are going. It's look like I'll finally get to head to Ga. on the 26th. Yee Haw!!

well, im sorry i haven't been on here for awhile.. i have been hunting all sorts of stuff and with midterms coming up, its been very hectic.. I shot my first geese on thursday morning.. limited out. it was an absolute blast! my buddy got two does this weekend. i missed one at about 200 yards. oh well. it was still a blast. gettin back out there witth thte sticks and strings this coming weekend. dad stopped by the land and said he has never seen deer sign like this before. so its lookin like all our hard work is begining to pay off!!! :)
