Hey guys, my name is Lance and I will be hunting Wisconsin. My season starts Sept. 13th. Went last week to one of my properties and it looked very promising. Looking forward to meeting all you guys.

Hey team, checking in!!
I'll be hunting Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan this year. Put up my last set last weekend along with a couple of cams.
I get out every chance I get, but my closest spot is a 4 hour drive. I know it's gonna be a good season and I can't wait!
Good Luck to All!

Fred

mfd1027 08-20-2009 07:12 AM

Checking in. Dan here. I usually spend my winters in Illinois guiding/tracking but have to take this year off so I'll be hunting my lease in Georgia this season. Looks like I might be the weak link with all the Midwest guys :happy0001: on our team. I hope I can contribute. I sure wish we got some kind of credit for does.
Good Luck to everybody.

Kansashunter89 08-22-2009 07:24 AM

mfd1027 08-22-2009 11:13 AM

Wow! KH nice pic's. Keep em coming.

Dan

lrhuntr 08-22-2009 11:25 AM

I love that last buck how his tines are almost touching each other.

Very cool.

Kansashunter89 08-22-2009 01:32 PM

I have a ton of pics of the first buck. His body looks a little small, looks like he could use another year, but it would be hard to pass him up if he came by.

Heres the one I will be looking for. I have a few nice bucks that will get a pass early in the season. I havent seen this deer since the date on the picture.

mfd1027 08-24-2009 11:58 AM

I'd like to see that buck now BR. It'd be kind of neat to see how much he's grown in two months. Those are some nice bucks you guys have your sights on. I think being on this team is gonna be a good thing. lol

Dan

BuckRogers 08-24-2009 06:26 PM

Dont let my pictures get your hopes up. I have named and photographed a lot of deer and have yet to get one of them... Although this would be one hell of a good year to start. lol

SuperRedHawk 08-26-2009 12:56 PM

Anyone try contacting the MIA's??

Double Drops 24 08-28-2009 07:16 AM

My season opens in KY next Saturday. I'm SO ready for it. Hopefully I'll put some points on the board for us.

mfd1027 08-28-2009 07:34 PM

DD, I hope you get a shot next wk. Kentucky has really come on as a trophy state. Are you hunting public or private land? Do you also hunt in Tenn?

We had to have a Capt. for the HNI Turkey Contest but I think that was more for record keeping than anything else. Do we need one here? I've never been in this contest (or any deer hunting contest for that matter).

Thanks, I hunt on a private lease that my Dad and I have. I also hunt in TN, but the quality of bucks just isn't there like it is where I hunt in KY.

SuperRedHawk 09-02-2009 07:03 AM

Where's Team 17!!!???
Any thoughts on names? Let's get the ball rollin!

outdoorsman4life_103 09-02-2009 07:17 AM

sorry. moved in this weekend so i was super busy. checkin in tho! cant wait for the WI opener!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

outdoorsman4life_103 09-02-2009 07:28 AM

ik this sounds dumb but maybe somethin like "string em up"? idk.. just somethin i though o real quick..

mfd1027 09-02-2009 08:16 AM

Yep, we need to get the ball rollin'. Hopefully everybody knows the rules and how we have enter our deer (if we're so lucky). We'll have to check to see what's been used for names. How about " doublelung ".

When does everybody expect to start. I'm headed to Ga. next wk. to plant our foodplots and check stands, shooting lanes and maybe hunt a day or two. I try to stay out of my best stands until late Oct. but I usually give in to temptation and will probably "have" to sit in the woods a few days. I'd love to shoot a few does early to give my tracking dog "Vars" a tuneup. I know I will lay him a few artificial tracks while we're there but there's nothing like the real thing.

Dan

mfd1027 09-02-2009 08:50 AM

OK, I sent PM's to our two no-shows (Hoyt Viper and INBOWMAN). Hoyt Viper was not found in the register. I know he was a member because he was on my Turkey Contest team. I'll go ahead and post something in the no-show thread to give Rob/Pa a headsup.

Man, I feel like a real DA. Sorry about sending you a PM Outdoorsman. I went looking all over the forums looking for you because I just knew that I had just seen you post somewhere. It was rt. in this thread. I found it when I went to post this message.

I think we need a Capt. or two or three. Any volunteers?

I hope we can keep up the communication. So far for names we have:
string em up
doublelung

Dan

Double Drops 24 09-02-2009 12:36 PM

Ok, here's a few more names:

Treetop Terrors
Broadhead Mafia
Archery Assassins

outdoorsman4life_103 09-02-2009 06:03 PM

DEFINATELY VOTING BROADHEAD MAFIA!!!!!!!!!!! thats so awesome!!!!

and no problem. sorry it took me so long to hop back on here.. idk what i have to do for captain, but i'd be happy to do it..

lrhuntr 09-03-2009 07:16 PM

I've been goose hunting and dealing with school, so its been busy for me.

I too like Broadhead Mafia.

mfd1027 09-04-2009 05:46 AM

O-4-life- You got my vote if you want the job. I will help in any way you need me.

It looks like BH Mafia might be our name. Any other votes.

Dan

SuperRedHawk 09-04-2009 11:40 AM

BH Mafia works for me as well, I dig it!

Double Drops 24 09-08-2009 03:41 AM

No luck with bucks this weekend. I was able to kill 2 does but never saw the first buck. Maybe they'll show up soon.

SuperRedHawk 09-08-2009 07:14 PM

Hey congrats on the does, DD!!
Be thankful you're hunting already, I would do anything to whack a doe right about now!

mfd1027 09-09-2009 04:59 AM

WTG!! DD. Nothing like breaking the ice. I'm hoping to make it to Ga. in a wk. or so to plant food plots and maybe hunt a few days.

SRH, where do you live in Illinois. I've guided there for the past 6 seasons. 3 for Golden Triangle Whitetails and 3 for Central Illinois Outfitters. I'm taking off this year and going hunting for myself.

Dan

outdoorsman4life_103 09-09-2009 07:57 AM

Irhuntr where you go to school?

SuperRedHawk 09-09-2009 02:12 PM

Dan, I live just outside of Chicago, but have a lease in Clay County and a little 80 acre honey hole way down south in Jackson County that a friend owns.

lrhuntr 09-09-2009 05:54 PM

Geez DD, way to get the ball rolling. Nice work.

Outdoorsman4life 103, I'm going to a local technical college for an associates degree in criminal justice.

Been goose hunting every morning, killing a few here and there but it's hard when all you have is local geese to hunt. Should get better in the coming weeks.

Not sure when I'm going to start bowhunting. I have a long season here so there's plenty of time.

cooter144 09-10-2009 10:46 AM

Hey fellas,

Sorry I haven't been around much. My name is Joe and I hunt in MN. My season opens in 9 days. I'll be looking for a 125+ inch buck this Fall and there are a few around my hunting area so hopefully I can capitalize on one this year and help the team.

mfd1027 09-11-2009 06:07 AM

Good to see you Joe. Hope you get your shot this season.

We're getting our food plots in the ground (Georgia) and the season actually starts tomorrow morning. I live in Miami, Fl. and I plan to head up sometime around the end of the month to do a little trimming and a good safety check of my stands but won't really get serious until the end of Oct. I plan to be up there from about Oct. 20th until around Thanksgiving and will hunt everyday. It's nice to be an old retired guy. lol

Dan

outdoorsman4life_103 09-12-2009 05:41 PM

so is that our official name? do we have a captain? I will do it but i need to know exactly what my responsibilities would be and what is expected of me..

mfd1027 09-13-2009 05:33 PM

O4Life, I don't think there's not too many responsibilities for the Capt. Just making sure the entries are logged with the proper pic's attached. It's spelled out in the Rules sticky.

I'm not sure about the name, there's already a Team Bone Mafia so it's gonna look kind of lame us using Mafia again but I'll go with whatever you guys think.

Dan

Hoyt_Viper 09-14-2009 06:22 PM

Sorry for the confusion....I was also picked for team 17 in the gun section. I was unaware until tonight that we will be teamates in bowseason as well.

Im stoked, seen a ton of deer feeding in the corn, beans, turnip, and clover. I unfortunately took a nice 8 pointer (until he broke a point off on my tire) with my truck and had to put him out. Not a single scratch on my truck. He hit my wheel straight on and got punted by my bumber as he turned away from the truck. The deer are nice and plump with all the rain weve had. The ag fields are going nuts, all of them are on their second harvest of the year so standing corn wont be a problem where I hunt, next to 600 acres of soybeans.

Bow is tuned and adtually have it tuned to my liking so I can shoot my Rages or my Muzzy's. I have three stands on trails, and a ground blind at an entrance to the field that cuts over to the ag fields. I hope I can slam the 8pt Ive had my eyes and camera on.

Be safe guys, and good luck!

mfd1027 09-15-2009 05:40 AM

Allright Jeff. Good to see you over here. I hope you get your shot at that 8 pt. too.

What's the odds of getting picked for team #17 in both the gun and bow contest. I think you need to play that number in a lottery somewhere.

Have you gotten clarification on the Old Family Recipe with your bud the gamewarden yet.

Dan
