Death from above has been taken already.

My vote is for Antler Addicts

tmontgo1 08-31-2009 03:14 PM

I like mine but voting for our own will never get us anywhere so i vote------------ STICK EM

4evrhtn 08-31-2009 04:30 PM

Hey, I voted for team Herpes like you suggested but apparently that got squashed so that left me with my other original vote but truthfully I don't care what our name is. I plan on saying we are the 2009-2010 Huntingnet Bowhunting champs, that's the only title I really hope we get.

How about Team Pink Mist? For those who don't know what this means picture a double lung pass through.

CAMPFOURCORNERS 08-31-2009 04:37 PM

nctaxi 09-03-2009 02:07 PM

Thread title changed. Make sure everyone hunts safe and ethically.

Hunt4Life23 09-04-2009 04:17 PM

clos, that avatar is the same picture as the team named "death from above" is using so i dont think it will work.

Hunt4Life23 09-04-2009 04:20 PM

I had an idea for the avatar but dont have the technology or know how to do it, but i was thinking of having a broadhead layered over a picture of a bow hunter or a big buck so that you can see both but they are kind of inter-mixed together. would anyone be able to do that??

Hunt4Life23 09-05-2009 05:16 PM

that looks pretty good. Is there anyway you could do that broadhead with a buck in the background or something?

clos21 09-05-2009 05:44 PM

Sorry im not a pro at this so thats about it for me. Maybe someone on this site can help with what you want.........

4evrhtn 09-07-2009 03:37 PM

20 days until Ohio's season opens. I am taking off that first week to hunt our new lease and then coming back to Pa for our opener on Oct. 3. Anyone on this team have a season starting before Sept. 26th? I already had my gear washed, hung and aired out for a week and a half and now packed up in my scentlock bags as of last week already. The only thing not packed is my bow, release and practice arrows because I can't go more than 3 days without shooting. Man, do I got the itch bad. My wife is ready to send me away for a week. But I must give her credit, she is the best- willing to sit and watch the worthwhile hunting shows with me on a daily and nightly basis. In about a week I will start having dreams of whitetails as I usually do before and during the season. If I didn't enjoy my sickness so much I might seek help but how would I enjoy myself then???

clos21 09-07-2009 04:03 PM

We have early doe starting Sept 17 - 22 that will take some of the edge off for me until Oct 1

WIbuckchaser 09-07-2009 06:37 PM

Bow season in Wisconsin opens in 5days, Sept.12, unfortunately for me I'll be working this weekend. Hopefully I won't be working the following Sunday. It will probably rain that day. It's suppose to be an 8 week job, so it should be done around Nov.1.(that would be awesome) I hate only having Sundays, but one day is better than none. Anyway enough of my complaining. Just go out and cherish the time you get. GOOD LUCK TEAM!

Yea we got it here, but im not gonna hunt it. I feel its too hot to properly take care of the meat. If that week is really cool then I might hunt it.

Hunt4Life23 09-07-2009 09:07 PM

4evrhtn, where in central pennsylvania do you live? I live in eastern pennsylvania but go to school at penn state and am planning on doing some bowhunting out here this year.

4evrhtn 09-08-2009 03:10 AM

I live 45 mins NE of Harrisburg, and 45 mins south of Scranton Pa. about 10 mins from Interstate 81. I have private land that I've been managing for a couple years now, actually ever since HR has been implemented in Pa. I have one buck that I estimate is mid to higher 120's and a few younger ones with great potential. My plan is to hunt our lease in Ohio the first week and check our cams to see what we have on the property. Then I'll decide on whether or not to take the Pa buck or just take out a doe or 2 for this year in Pa and go after a buck in Ohio if I see a bigger one there. It's our first year on this new lease and we didn't get enough time to be set up like I prefer. Next Spring we will do all the food plot work that we didn't get a chance to do this year and I'll have a better idea of the deer's patterns and what deer are on the property.

I am of no help here, sorry.

I was wondering how many guys on our team manage property for whitetails?
How many deer hunt on Private lands only. How many deer hunt on public lands only?
How many have set a size requirement above and beyond what your Game Managment Authority mandates?

For me, I deer hunt in Pa solely on private land because there are few deer anywhere else.
For Pa, I have an antler restriction of 125" or bigger for buck on the land I manage. Except when a buck which is smaller needs to be taken out for genetic reasons or injury.
For Ohio, I set that minimum at 130" for this year but that will increase with more years spent on this property.

Very nice CAMPFOURCORNERS

Hunt4Life23 09-08-2009 05:32 PM

I hunt private land around my house in the Poconos in eastern PA and will be hunting public land near Penn State for the first time this fall. I dont have much land around my house so I cant really manage it but I only shoot nice bucks around there. I have been seeing one that is right around 130 and always see bigger bucks during the rut.

Except for when I go hunt elk/mule deer (which I have already done this year and came back with my tags still in my pocket), I hunt private land only as that is basically all that is available in Texas anyway.

I hunt three different counties on a regular basis that are all close to home and I will go and hunt 3-4 days one time each year with a friend in South Texas.

There are no state antler restrictions, but we have self imposed restrictions on our two whitetail properties. One of my 3 spots is Mule Deer mostly with only a few whitetails.

We don't shoot any bucks less than 3 1/2 yo.

Here are a couple of my summer scouting bucks. Haven't decided if I will try and take advantage of a shot opportunity on any of these or not if it presents itself. It will depend on how I "feel" at the time and what they look like out of velvet. The first three pics are the same deer.

4evrhtn 09-10-2009 06:26 AM

Those are beautiful deer. Glad to see we have someone on our team who lives in the birthplace of QDMA. Never been to Texas, probably because I can't afford it being the hunting is the way it is there-all private ranches.

So far we have 3 Pa boys and everyone else is solo in representing their state. You guys from Wisconsin, Texas, Indiana, Minnesota seem like our best chances for booner bucks. I am just glad we don't have 2 guys from Florida on our team- No offense Florida but your deer are LITTLE.

Hunt4Life23 09-10-2009 02:26 PM

Those are some beautiful bucks! Too bad the first buck didnt have both sides like his right side with the curled brow and 4 up top. I feel like if all of us can get a respectable buck on the board we got a good shot at winning this thing. Also we still have to name a captain for the team.

WIbuckchaser 09-10-2009 06:34 PM

jackflap, that last pic looks like a keeper. He looks to be carrying some pretty good weight too. I know I would take him. Good luck.

I agree he is the best of the bunch. If you notice that is by far the worst picture as it was practically dark when he came out and I had to set my ISO setting on the camera just to get the picture.

I don't know if I see him again but if I do and he presents a shot....we will see.

Good luck to you as well this upcoming season.

I made that last avatar a little bigger so its the right size and also changed the writing a little and dont know which one I like more.

4evrhtn 09-12-2009 05:42 PM

That looks great to me. I love the drop tine! Also I kinda like the first letter style but then again I say you did all the work so you decide.
