Here's the story. This was a buck I'd watched all summer. There was one that was bigger, but I figured if either one gave me a shot, I'd take it. Honestly never expected to see either one during hte season.
About 15 minutes in to the evening sit I spied a small buck feeding on acorns.
Then as light was fading I caught a BIG body moving thru the woods. Quickly I saw it was the big 7 that I'd watched all summer (and not seen since august)
He fed thru below me, and another buck materialized. This one too was a pretty nice one. I tried doe bleating to get their attention, but with not much luck. They hooked slightly my way & when they hit down wind of a scrape I'd put some deer lure in, they BEE LINED to it. They closed that last distance so quickly it thru me off a little. They were in under me & I was scrambling to look around and see which buck was where. The other buck (I'm thinking he was the compact 10 pt from over the summer) was directly under me, smaller spread, but heavy racked and nice tines. I'm guessing he scored more than the 7. They wanted to come in, but they were very tentative to come into the open woods and past my stand. Finally, big 7 commited, and I drew. The arrow struck home and the buck took just a few hops, in a matter of seconds he was on the ground without covering so much as 25-30 yds.
reds10,
My dog LOVES it when I get a deer, and I think she senses when I am really happy to get one. Normally her appearances in my deer pics are as she steals a sniff from the side

Well guys, put a 5 point down this evening. He'll maybe go 50", but the landowner is 80 years old, and told me to shoot the first thing that come into range for him.

Way to go guys! Congratulations on both those nice bucks. It's great to get some numbers up on the board.
Josh, fill us in on the details when you have a chance.
Rybo, great story! That's a double heart pounder, to have 2 bucks in on you at the same time.
Are we gonna start guessing on the scores before they are posted??
