RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
A big congrats to you and your wife Troy.
Well guys, please don't be mad at me but I already tagged my contest buck and added some points to the board. I say don't be mad 'cause it only scored 67 1/8. However, this buck has a very special meaning to me that's worth more than any score or contest bragging rights. Read more here: http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=3137305 btw- no way in heck am I done. I still have 2 buck tags and the rut plus rest of the season to fill them. I will be hitting the private land I have access to in a week. Hopefully the big boys haven't gotten run over by semi-trucks since last year. |
RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
Way to go Hoytail! Don't matter one the size as long as your happy, I'm happy for ya!
I was out tonite, the 67 degree heat today put deer movement to 0 though. I was out of my stand after dark and didn't get 100 yards away from my stand and I could hear the scrape getting tore to crap thats about 6 yards from my stand. :(If I woulda been in my stand I couldn't have seen anything anyway, but it woulda been cool to have been there, and I think I could have made the 6 yard shot in the dark....haha |
RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
Hoyt, way to go man, I read the story over in bowhunting, great work and congrats again man! Every buck counts on this score card!
I have a feeling aseveral moreDeacons will be punching holes in whitetail bucks real soon! |

RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
Hello to all, I wanted to update the rest of the team on my situation. Here's the pm I sent Rob tonight.
Hello Rob, I have an unusual circumstance with the contest. I shot a buck Sunday night at dark and let it sit until the morning. Unfortunately the wolves tore it to pieces when I found it monday am. I was heartbroken as this is my first buck with a bow. Needless to say the meat was a complete loss. I talked to the DNR and they said if I wanted to keep the horns I had to bring in what I could and register the deer. I gladly put my tag on it and took what I could so I could have a momento of my first archery buck. The problem is I took pictures of me with the carcass in the woods but I didn't have my bow with me.I then took pictures of the head and cape back at camp with my bow. I didn't want to post it on the contest page for fear of being flamed by the population. The pics of the carcass are quite gruesome from the wolves. I'm not sure they are appropriate to post as they are very graphic and this is a family site. I surely would not want my child seeing the pics. What are your thoughts? I would like to contribute to the team but not at the risk of causing controversy or offending anybody. I talked to our team captain, Hoytail Hunter- Heu and he was ok with it and thought i should pm you. I also sent a pm to Troy- Shedd33 asking for his advice since he is a moderator and on my team. I am on team 23 Deacons of Death. Thanks for your help! So there you have. It's not a huge deer by any means. Its a nice little fork with small brow tines which I guess you could call it a six. Like I said, I was devasted when I found it. The deer only went 75 yards but due to the heavy timber I hunt, I didn't see it go down. I heard it crash twice but decided since I shot it at 4:30 to back out. I hope you guys understand why I haven't posted the pics or the score. Thanks- Jeff |
RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
damn man that sucks! I really don't like wolves. I got your back on whatever decision you make!
|
RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
ORIGINAL: Muliefever damn man that sucks! I really don't like wolves. I got your back on whatever decision you make! Thanks Mulie. I haven't heard from Rob. I think he is hunting in IL and might not have computer access. I understand why the locals hate the wolves so much when you bring it up in the bar. If that was my cattle, sheep, pet, etc I would be furious.[:@] I've heard a couple of times that if you see a wolf, shoot it. If it's wearing a tracking collar, put in on a boxcar to Chicago. I wouldn't, but that's what I've heard... I've learned an important lesson. I can't leave a deer sit overnight in the area I hunt. I'm going to have to let it sit for a whileand possibly go out with flashlights even if it is in the middle of the night. The thought never crossed my mind this would be a problem. Everybody says, when in doubt, back out. I think I need to add to the statement "unless you have a wolf problem". Maybe it was a cougar! I saw that somebody posted on the general forum that one was spotted in Buffalo county. That's only 4 counties away from me to the south. ;) |
RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
Red 5 - Wishin the best of luck here!
I'm heading out for the evenin sit right now, lots of rutting going on....I could have filmed an adult deer program yesterday in the combine.....Wish me luck! :D |
RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
One cat can not devour a deer over night. Just won't happen. A good size pack of yotes can.. And wolves easily can. If it wasn't for my profession, and fear to loose my liscense I would kill all the wolves in Idaho, no question! Thank god for crazy family!

RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)

Keep on them Greg! Only two moredays to hunt until gun season. Are you bowhunting after gun season? |
RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
Congrats guys...Rammer I can't see the pic
|
RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
Good stuff Rammer. Congrats and fix those pix.
I just tagged my 2nd buck myself. This one would've put more points on the board for us but it's alright. The devil deer has special meaning as does this one. Read more here: http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=3171622&mpage=1&key=&#317162 3 Might as well put a pic of him on our team thread as well. ![]() |
RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
great job Rammer, wish I could say the same for me, I got busted at 40 yards by a monster yesterday, wind me he did, I am out the next couple days all day so hopefullyI will be like you and tagged out.
|
RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
well another no kill night. I saw 7 doe and one really big 10 pointer, of corse he was under the tree I first decided to put my stand but then changed my mind.
|
RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
Thanks guys! I got the pics fixed, my brother had them on his server and he musta dumped 'em. I'll try to get him scored in the next few days, been real busy here with rifle season opening this weekend, and trying to combine corn in the mud/snow.
|
RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
Nice Buck Rammer!
I never heard back from Rob from the PM I sent him(see post on page 30) so I decided to submit the pictures on the contest page. We'll have to see if he accepts the combination of pictures since the 1st pic with the whole deer(minus what the wolves ate) doesn't have my bow and the second pic is only the cape but has my bow in the picture. When does bow season end for everybody? Any WI guys who haven't tagged out yet going to hunt the late season after gun? |
RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
Guy's I got a pretty decent one last night. It should be in the 160's. I'll post some pics later tonight.

RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
That's a really cool buck Greg...a lot of charactor on that one...congrats.
Guys...this has been the worst bowhunting season that I have ever experience for buck sightings. But at least the MN rifle season came to a close 2 days ago and hopefully the standing corn in my area will be combined soon with the ground freezing. I still have time to hopefully find a good buck. |
RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
I love a deer with some character! Awesome! Hey we should be in the top 5 now!!
|
RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
ORIGINAL: Muliefever I love a deer with some character! Awesome! Hey we should be in the top 5 now!! Oh btw, I scored my guy in the pic on the previous page and he only made 106 2/8 which is a bit smaller than I thought when I saw him standing there looking at me. He also has 3 broken tines tines which doesn't help the situation. Good stuff Greg. Congrats! |
RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
Nice Job guys, looks like team DOD is making a late run. Few more of us score and we may be right in this. Hunting should start getting pretty good here in the next couple weeks. Our rut runs a lot later than most of you guys. Bucks are about to start moving quite a bit.
|
RE: Official Team Deacons of Death Thread (23)
I am pretty satisfied with our success this year. As of now we should have no complaints.. Good luck to those who have not tagged out!
