I think this weekend will be good to you! - best of luck!

Mulie, not yet, all labor day weekend where I hunted, (in and around 40 cows/calves in one and a few spikers...then 25-30 head made up of the same cows/calves, few spikes, one rag horn and one 5x5... NOT a single bull acting rutty.. Real docile actually. Rob (my brother and I worked the 5x5) Monday Morning and he didnt want nothing to do with cow calls smaller bull squeals, chuckles you name he didnt hardly pick up his head.. BUT its gonna all blow up here pretty soon as soon as one of the cows comes into heat.. I expect a big mature bull or two or even three to start showing up in my two elk areas ANYDAY now..and the chits gonna get stirred up and the calling and rut hunting will be on..

Yes Mulie we have the best weather I have experienced in years for early archery season right now.. 35 at night.. roughly give or take a few degrees and high 60's to low 70s in the low country and 50's to 60's in the high country..

Hey good luck come this weekend, you should be timing it great! For me I am gonna hunt my whitetail buck areas and ifa bull is in the area andgives me a shot I am gonna drill him.. By Sept 19th (when my buddy Ryan gets here to hunt elk we will really focus on the elk for his 9 days.

Hoytail I agree with you 100% , let's get back to the purpose of this thread. The team of DoD putting our hands on some monster antlers, and becoming the envy of everyone in this contest.
I'm jealous that some of you are already out hunting , and with this weather we are having here in the Midwest it has gotten me pumped up that much more. I have to wait ten more days to get up in a tree, come on Sept. 13th.
Hoytail, I see you hunt in a EAB zone. What county if you don't mind me asking? I tried hunting some public land in Trempealeau county two years ago. That is some beautiful land there.
Well good luck to guys that are already hunting and keep us posted on your hunts.

Well I am getting ready to head home for the day, and I am just sitting here thinking about my up coming elk hunt. It seems like only yesterday I was planning out the hunt with the two Michigan Flatlanders that are going back with me! jk... I will finish packing tonight, and check my list twice! When I come to work tomorrow morning I will participate in an all hands work out ( hopefully football) and then go home and spend the rest of the day with my wife. I will try to get some sleep Friday night, and then get up early Saturday morning to make the 28 hour drive to Idaho! I can't wait to see the Mountains!!!! You guys prolly won't hear from me until late September.. I hope to have some good news! And I hope you early season deer hunters put the down! Good luck to all of us!
DoD for life!!!:D

I hunt Washington mostly. Second would be Waukesha. Third Racine. I have a friend who owns 55 acres near the Dells and I'm planning to go scout that soon. I know another guy who has given me permission to hunt his 800 acres near Madison. I think I have more places than scouting energy.

It never hurts to have too many hunting spots!

Without a doubt true!

But I have a 2 button bucks (by analogy) and 3 yearlings that are hanging off my coat tails this year all the while I'm just a fork myself.I've gone scouting with, for, and because of these 5 other guys at least half a dozen times already in the passed month. That eats up alot of Saturdays and Sundays.

Oh well, it's all good though because it'll make for an easier drag. Plus I forced all of them into a $10/person"big buck contest" of which 5 of the 8 guys involved likely can't win. It's like taking candy from a baby. They don't know it but it's the same thing as me getting into a contest with you Greg. LOL
