Jenna-We all go through those seasons from time to time. It really makes you appreciate the good ones. Just enjoy the fact that you are getting to spend time outdoors and something will give.
I spent a long hard weekend out there and all I can say is, I am TIRED of high winds. My business partner killed a nice 9 pt. yesterday morning. I saw deer all weekend and one shooter. I just couldn't get anything to cooperate. I am going to hunt whenever I can this week because next weekend is our gun season.
I hope the rest of had some good hunts over the weekend. Hopefully our team will shine in the late season!

Brett/IL... I could not agree more with you abouth the high winds. That is 2 weekends in a row, and that stuff just wears me out on the stand.
I did not get an arrow off this weekend, but on Saturday, I got to watch a decent 6and a nice 8 chasing the same doe for about 20 mins. On Sunday I saw the biggest deer I have seen this season. He is a mainframe 10 point, with a spread that was 3-4 inches beyond his ears. He was 80 yards off and upwind of me, and I could not get him intrested in coming my way. It does not help that I have very little confidence in my calling ability. Oh well, maybe in 2 weeks, if he survives the gunseason, which since our area is bow only, I think he will.
Good luck to all.
Rick

O.K. team, I have a confession to make. I got a little fed up with deer sliding me just out of recurve range and I came across a deal I couldn't pass up. So, I present to you my "crutch". It is an Elite Synergy and it will be in the stand with me through rut and possibly for the rest of the season. I thought I had it in me to take the recurve all season, but I don't. The handful of good deer that I have had to let walk are haunting me. I guess I still like to put my hands on antlers too much to hunt with the recurve exclusively. Hopefully she will help me help the team sometime in the next couple of weeks.

P.S. I just noticed the date is wrong on my camera [&:]. I just got the bow on Mon. Nov. 17th.

Buck down team 21!!!!! I was hunting an interlocking (area that connect's several doe groups together) over a primary scrape yesterday. At day light I had a 1 1/2 year old 6 point cruise through the area. At around7:15, I had a nice 100 class2 1/2 year old8 point chase adoe right under my stand, right behind them was the 6 pointI had seen atdaybrake. At around 7:45 a button buckmade his way through the area. At 8:00 alone doe came up the ridge. She stopped at the scrape andurinated in it and work the licking branch, then walked by meat about 25 yds. ( she looked back twice and my heart started to pound). At around 8:30, from the oppsite side of the ridge, here come my buck. He was on a mission and went stright to the scrape, when he got there he started tearing the ground up. He thenthrashed a small pine.
With his nose to the ground, hewas hot on the does trail. As he came by me he stopped where the buck anddoe had ran byearlyer, at that moment I shot. score 135 1/8

Hey everyone - sorry I did not get back on last week to give details - taking two days off a week and working three days gets more than a little hectic!
Jenna - keep your chin up! I know that often times we are trying to do everything right and everything appears to be going wrong - I do sympathies with you and have had seasons like that. Don't dispair, just remember that on the last day of season, the last minute of shooting light, the buck of your dreams could appear from behind the tree and offer the perfect shot! - just stay on your toes, think positive thoughts and be ready!
gri22ly- Congrats!! Great buck! sounds like an awesome hunt!
Brett - don't worry about the crutch - I applaud your efforts with the recurve! - I would probably have reverted after the first one walked! But just a fair warning - you do realize you will have a big one in within 10 yards!! Then that will haunt you - but you will have a big smile and antlers!
I have been out quite a bit - have passedon 6 very respectable bucks, had have had several others that I would have passed - but no shot opportunities. Lots of does and dinks - have had one big dude in twice 20 yards broadside the first time and 40 yards the second. Unfortunately it was past shooting light. Trying to find a place to cut him off on the way in the light, but that may be a difficult task!
Better run - will be back out there this weekend. - and will try to check in this week as well.
Best of luck to everyone! - TBH have a safe flight and best of luck next week!!
Oh - don't forget the harnesses - I just got clicked in and had a gust of wind almost blow me out of the stand... Be Safe!!
Mike
