Hey, don't worry about the contest.....kill what you want, don't matter if it's big or small do what makes you feel good. If it's a velvet buck you want and you get the chance, let that arrow go!
. No, they are here but hard to come by! I wont take anything small by my standards until late November (unless its a slickhead)

I haven't had a chance to scout that much in the last couple weeks, I've come down with a very bad summer cold/sinus and earinfection. I'm on antibiotics so hopefully it will clear this darn thing up soon.......summer colds suck!!![:'(][:'(]
It should be a good year though, I have lots of places to hunt...probably more places than time but I've seen nice deer at all the lands I hunt.

I always shoot at what strikes my fancy at the moment of truth. Sometimes I've passed on nice bucks because I've had my eye on a slammer, other times I've shot smaller bucks. I pretty much limit myself to 8-points or more and let the smaller ones pass but I've shot smaller bucks in the past and who knows what the future holds.
I might add that just because a buck is an 8-point or bigger doesn't mean it's a slammer either. A couple years ago I saw a small basket 10 point (probably about 100in) come close and I was ready and willing to put an arrow through him when he just wandered off in the wrong direction.[:@]Point being even though he most likely would have grown to be an absolute slammer his rack was so perfectly shaped I would have been happy to take him right then and there.
Shoot what you want, contest or no contest and be happy whether you hold out for P&Y deer or shoot the first spike down the pike, have fun....it's a pastime and a recreation....it SHOULD be fun!
That being said I hope everyone shoots a P&Y slammer and we clean everyone's clock this year!!

That sucks BigJ...man I hate hunting when I feel like crap!
I usually shoot 30-50 arrows per practice round...usually 10 arrows past when I start to get shaky
9 days till my opener...man I hate to say it for the sake of this contest, but I have my eye on a nice buck still in velvet! I've always wanted to get one sporting the softies

Yea I know....it wuld be cool to befirst to put a biggin down in the contest!
One thing that is really gonna help is that since it is a blacktail the score gets multiplied by 1.39....so if he scores 125....we get 125x1.39=173.75!
that would be one heck of a help! but im not good at guessing score but i hope hed go 125"
