Mark, personally I think I like that spot towards the middle where the power line cut is. Did you get those pic's okay?

When I got to my stand at 4:30, there was a yearling bedded down at the bottom of my climbing sticks. It took off while I was about 100 yards out. All was quiet after that until 6:30 when I saw a 4 pointer trailing a doe 190 yards to my south. Five minutes later another two young bucks were trailing a group of does at the same spot. At 6:40, a doe walked out and stopped below my stand. I drew back and had her sighted and was about to release when a very small fawn ran up and stood beside her. The fawn was so small, I was amazed there were on spots on it. I gently let off on the string and watched them walk away with no clue how close I was. Another 5 minutes and two more big bucks walked the same trail to my south. At 7:00 I could hear a deer blowing to my southeast and continued to stand there waiting for the deer to come out into the opening. A few minutes later I heard another deer blow further southeast than the first. With no wind out there, I knew they weren't blowing at me. After it was dark and I was sure there were no deer in my immediate area, I climbed down and made the 1/2 mile walk home. The rut is coming and the deer are moving earlier and earlier.

yep i got the pics there great. what do you use for the cleats? great idea though with the ajustable seat i like it. when i get some spare time ill try and make one, it shoudn't be too hard. thanks coop.
Sounds like you had a pretty good hunt, hopefully next time one of those bigger bucks will slip up for you.

I went and scouted that area, its tough to see sign now with alot leaves just fallen in the last few days, it was hard to tell sign tracks etc. No rubs at all to speak of so i dunno,,,i hunt another spot just down the road a mile and there's rubs in that area, so i might just stick to that spot, and i think theres a few more bucks there.

Wind advisory for us here tommorrow, suppose to get 45mph winds, ill be bowling anyway so its a good day to for it to blow.

Sounds like you had a pretty good hunt coop. If you do what I always seem to do you could move about 190 yards to the south of that stand and watch them walk around about 180 yards to the north.[:@] Stay with it.

Finner the new spot looks great. I used to hunt some power line areas and I had great luck finding where they were crossing. Just couldn't shoot worth a crap back then.

Man coop.......Yer all over 'em buddy. Good call on letting the doe walk, you big softie! :D Big, tough Air Force guy is as soft as a cotton ball, ain't that cute...LOL.....I would have done the same thing brother. Keep after 'em man. You're day will come.

I'm still undecided if I'm going this weekend or not. With temps in the mid 80's, I just don't see the friggin point. I am, however....going back to the farm I was at last weekend. We're headed out next Friday and coming back Monday. Looking at the long range forecast, temps are supposed to be much more seasonal.

Mobow - Buck will be sad to hear you're not going out this weekend I heard he had some romantic plans!:D

Friday night, I'm hunting my neighbor to the North's property. He has 3 stands on his 18 acres of timber. Says he has bucks sparring almost every evening in his back yard. I'm all over these deer like Mobow on oppossum stew! I still think the 15th is going to be the best with the full moon rising just before sunset. But, I am hitting it as hard as I can and trying to be positive as possible.

Coop, I'm hoping to catch Buck in the act. ;) If I do, we'll have some points on the board.

Now that the river has gone down, and been that way for a couple weeks, I should be able to get to my best spot. But I need a north wind to hunt it, and this fall those are about as rare as a good idea from Coop. But, the good thing is.....I've not intruded on that area at all, and when I do the time will be right, and the area will have not been disturbed.

Mo what the hell do you mean you don't see the point. It's HUNTING man. In basically 2 months it will be DONE for another year. I know I will be out but I too don't like the heat. We have a 4 day gun season open from Oct. 16th - 19th. It is doe only. Bow hunting is still allowed but it is also doe only for those 4 days. Also we have to wear blaze orange for those 4 days. I won't be going out for a couple of reasons. One I don't want to bugger up a stand being spotted in all that orange crap. And I am CERTAIN that IF I was to go the biggest buck in the woods would walk up and stop at 20 yards broadside staring straight away from me for about 30 minutes. I probably would have a heart attack.

I moved a stand today to the spot where I saw Ole Grandpa not too long ago. In this pic, the newest stand is the one that is furthest North (top of the map). There are 4 HEAVY trails that come together right by the stand. Guess where I am sitting tonight?
