For the guys still hunting. How's the rut? I'm guessing things are winding down now? I'm really interested to see how it plays out beyond the second week of November as that is when our season ends so my time in the woods is nill.

I recently found an article from the PA Game Commission in a study of does they did in the spring. Over an 8 year span, the average day was November 14th for breeding in 4 of the 8 years. Kinda proved that the Moon didn't matter. The other 4 days were all within a 4-5 day span of that. Just thought it was interesting.

Pops~~ I havent been out as much as I should be , but have been out a few times!! I cant say I seen any "Rut" activity, the treestand I have been hunting(overhunting) had and still has a ton of rubs and scrapes all within 100yrds of it. A buddy of mine has been in the woods pretty much for the whole month and the MOST rut activity came after Nov.15th for him form the way he describes??
I would say it is just NOW really winding down, unlike the usuall 14-18th wind down that is most common!?!?

I am hoping to be in the woods for the next 4 days, so hopefully I can catch a lil more "activity' going on!!

I found a dead deer near where I am hunting and it had a bunch of leaves piled up on top of it and the guts were the only thing taken out of it. I am 99.9% sure it is a mountain lion. We put the camera over it so Hopefully it will come back tonight! It came back yesturday night so it should! If it does I will get some pics uploaded for you guys to see.

I never realized how sucky it is to be finished hunting SO early. I could go shoot a Doe, but my freezer is full, so I don't even know what I'd do with it? I can't believe that Team has almost 900" that's crazy. But there is no shame coming in 2nd. It has been a fun ride, with alot of good deer put down for our team.

My son came for shotgun season this year (his 1st ever deer hunt) and got a medium sized Doe the first 1hr 45 min. he absolutely drilled her with his 870 20ga. she ran 50 yards and piled up, I don't know who was more excited, him or me He really wanted a buck, but it was SO cold opening morning, 10 degrees with a 15 mph wind, even in the ground blind, I was even cold, and he just got here from being in 60-70 degree weather a day earlier, so he was having a hard time with it, that's why he took the first deer that showed up.
