RE: Offical Team 10 Tread!!

Thanks,

Whitetail was mid 140's and the muliewas 165 (gross scores). The whitetail wouldbe quite a bit lower than that with the velvet peeled.

RE: Offical Team 10 TREEHUGGERS!!

that whitetail looked bigger to me than 140's, but that velvet is very deceiving.

October 18th guys!!! I am gonna be layin the smackdown on a biggn' (lets hope)

RE: Offical Team 10 TREEHUGGERS!!

Things finally cooled off a bit up here and from what I've heard the moose rut isin full swingwith bulls popping up everywhere.

I took a buddy from work out for his first deer hunt last weekend. We went out a few times looking for whitetails without any luck before finally connecting on a nice young buck for his first big game animal. All in all, he had a great time and I now have another hunting partner:)

Good luck with on your muzzleloader hunt KYDeerhunter.

I got a nine pointer yesterday. I'm not sure what he scored yet. I'm having him mounted. He weighed about 170 pounds. One of our club members took some pictures and will email them to me this week.

What are the capitans duties, i may give it a try?
As far as I can tell, it's just this:

2008 - 2009 Deer Contest Rules

11. All disagreements, controversies and conflicts will be decided on,
by a majority vote from a panel consisting of Team Captains and or,
Moderators participating within the contest.
Each team will pick your own team Captain.

THOSE decisions will be FINAL.
There's probably some unofficial duties like getting us some alternates and keeping up with scores to make sure we are accurately accounted for. It doesn't seem too hard. I'll do it if you don't want to.

If you're okay with being team captain then you have my vote. Otherwise we need to nominate someone else pretty soon.

RE: Offical Team 10 Tread!!

OK, I just posted for us in the Team Captain thread. I would like to thank everyone who voted for me in this landslide election (1-0). Running unopposed sounds pretty easy but even I wasn't expecting a 100% victory. The last person I remember getting 100% of the vote was Saddam Hussein of Iraq. I hope I do a little better than he did.

ETA: I hope you don't mind if my first official act as Captain is to change my title to "Supreme Commander." Now let's go get some big bucks and crush our opponents!

RenaissanceBiker 11-03-2008 12:04 PM

RE: Offical Team 10 Tread!!

I also want to add that the voting is now about 2:1 against allowing those who forgot tohave their gun in the picture for scoring. It looks like at least two people from other teams are going to have their bucks disqualified. Please remember you need to have yourself, the buck and your rifle in the picture if you want the score to count.

Hey, I'm on the team!!

I am hunting in SW PA, near the MD border, around the town of Salisbury, PA. I belong to a hunting club that leases approx. 200 acres, and other misc. private land. Also I will be hunting Forbes State forest some also. FYI, I amcurrently bowhunting, so if I get my PA buck with a bow I will let you know ASAP so you can get an alternate. Also, where do I get that cool little avatar since I'm part of the team now!!

RenaissanceBiker 11-05-2008 07:35 AM

RE: Offical Team 10 Tread!!

Welcome to the team, mikeshunk. Do you mean you can only take 1 buck per year for bow and rifle season combined? That kinda sucks. We can stack 'em like firewood down here. Of course, that's why they aren't very big.

I sent a PM to 30yd-max too. He hasn't logged in since 10/19/2008. Hopefully he's out hunting.

No bow kills correct? I will be out this weekend bow hunting and need to know. I get 2 OK tags and still have my KS tag so Im not that worried but just didnt want to post a pic and have it disqualified.

RE: Offical Team 10 Tread!!

Folks, if you get a doe it mightadd to our team score. I'm not exactly sure how this rule change will work out. Just try toget a picture of yourself, the doe and your rifle.

ETA: Each player gets to submit one buck and one doe. All does will count 25 points regardless of size. So if we each get a doe we can get an extra 250 points for the team. So go get them bucks, and if you get a doe she's good for a bonus.

RE: Offical Team 10 Tread!!

I hunted all weekend and didn't see a deer. Saturday morning it was 21 degrees. My water bottle froze and the idiot up the hill from my ladder thought a bleat can as loud as a truck horn should be used as often as possible. He once hit it 6 times in 4 minutes. I sent him a text message telling him to cut it out. Saturday evening I moved to some thick pines, made a blind out of some fallen branches and sat in a chair. The wind changed and at dusk a doe winded me. She blew a few times before running off. Sunday was warmer, 34 degrees. I think the deer were up all night eating and stayed down all day. Sunday evening they didn't start moving again until way after shooting light was gone.

Way to go KYDeerhunter!

Well, I screwed up last week. I went back to Saskatchewan for the canadian resident whitetail season and as luck would have it shot a nice whitetail on friday. Problem is I packed my rifle and some other gear 1/2mile back to the truck before returning with the camera to get field photos. Problem is, I forgot to get pictures of the deer with my rifle in the photo. By the time I realized what' i'd done i had the buck skinned and hung. The really crappy thing is he grossed 167 and would have upgraded my entry quite a bit. Sorry team. Here are the pictures I did get of him
