Last year was not so great for me. I lost two good bucks because the crossbow bolts hung in the shoulder. But I did get this guy with my Handi-rifle. 2.5 year old 8 point.

I'm thinking he was a 2.5, maybe a lower scale 3.5. Either way, if one his size walks by again this year, he's gettin a .45 caliber bullet through his lungs:D

Well last year my 8 year old and I only killed 5 does. He killed a 97 lb doe on the first day of the season. He killed a deer the first time he carried a gun and killed a turkey this year also. I think this year is going to e the year for us.

We are at the bottom of the page, so I had to put us closer to the top. How is everyones bow season going so far? I killed a doe on opening day ( Oct. 1st ). Tried to get another doe this weekend, but it didn't work out. I'll try again this comingweek and weekend. Good luck guys.

Went bow hunting this weekend and saw two bucks. One was a 6 pointer I had been seeing for a while now. The other one was a 5 pointer that was new to the area. There have beenrumors of a big 12 around the area but I have not seen hide nor hair of him so I am not holding my breath.

Archery season was good to me. Shot a nice 6 pt on a draw hunt at a state park with my dad. Passed on another nice 6 pointer while muzzleloader hunting yesterday. Waiting for his big brother to come by...

Rifle season opens today in my county....and I'm at work. [&:]

I went bow hunting last weekend for the first time this fall and ended up droppingtwo does. Saw 14 the first night feeding out in the alfalfa field and then setup in the staging area the next night and had three family groups come by my stand between 5:30 and 6:00. Sure is nice butchering the deer without freezing the fingers.

Pulled the pictures off my trail cameras and have four different 8 pointers working the fringes of my hunting area. Only one is a true shooter but it's still moving at night. I'll be back out with the bow over Halloween and the start of the rut. The fun is about to begin.....

This weekends the youth season here in Missouri, so I'll be able to get out with the smokepole. If we hunt one farm, I'm holding out for a good buck, but if we hunt the other farm, I'll shoot a doe to get a deer out of the way, and get some meat in the freezer. If not a doe, then I'll be waiting for a good buck there also.
When do you guys start?

I've killed two does, one with bow and one with muzzleloader. My rifle season opened this past weekend. I have seen several young bucks, mostly spikes, but nothing worthy of shooting. The older bucks should be a little more active in the next couple of weeks. November is the hot month. Good luck guys.

I went hunting yesterday evening (Wed.) and killed a 6 point. I thought he was an 8, but he had no brow tines. He was a good sized deer, but the rack wasn't huge. I probably won't even score him for the contest unless I don't kill something larger. I'm having problems posting pics on this site for some reason, so I'll keep trying.

Bagged an 8 point yesterday. Not huge, but best I've seen this year. We get to pick the best of two scorable bucks so I'm going to wait to post my score until I bag another or it's closer to the end of season. I may still get a bigger buck. Got 5 total this year so far. Most were taken with my bow. I'm just glad I had my rifle for this guy so I could enter it.

Opening weekend this weekend, hopefully I'll be able to get at least a doe down for the team. The second weekend's the one I'm really pumped to go to though!

I kinda like the rule about does, I always kill a doe, knock on wood. Sat is not going to be the best day or teh best spot but it will be deer hunting so I am pumped. Monday will be better and I am ready.

Saturday is looking to be pretty good in my part of Indiana. Cold front is moving through Saturday morning and the temperature will be around 40 with a chance of snow flurries. Sounds like perfect deer hunting weather to me.

RE: Team 1 check in

Great jobmcraddockon your 8-pointer. My early bow season ended yesterday with no more deer taken. Had a couple of shooter bucks at 50-60 yards but nothing closer except spikes, 6-pointers and tons of does. Guns are sighted in and I'm ready for the Wisconsin season which starts in 8 days.

The excitement of opening weekend is the best time of the year, more anticipated than Christmas for me. With my son now off to college, our opener will be a good time to catch up so I'm pumped. It helps that the neighbors have reported a 14 pointer crossing onto my property though I've only gotten a couple of tens and 4-5 8's on the trail cameras.

Good luck to all Team 1 mates, especially those opening their season this coming weekend.

Gerry

Yesterday was my 9 year old son's second onpening day. He killed a doe last year and this year he killed a doe and a five pointer. Two shots two deer down. All I have is cell phone pictures until someone sends me the pictures that they took. Good luck team 1

Got a 10 point down guys. I think he'll score in the 110" to 115" range. I'll get him scored tomorrow, and hopefully have the rest of the pictures by the end of the week. I'm not sure about the pictures though, it may be a while.

Guys, I shot a nice 8 pointer Sat. afternoon. He is not a monster, but he has a near perfect rack. He is a beautiful buck. He scored 112. I am going to attempt to get a picture up. I guess I will try Photo bucket. Everything else has failed. Congrats Rory and mcraddock on your bucks. When I try to put a photo on here, it says file is too large. What do I need to do? I feel Like an idiot right now.

superstrutter, I have found photobucket to be the easiest. If you don't know how to use it, there's a tutorial in the technical forum on this website. Congrats on your buck!

CONGRATs RORY on the great ten pointer. Now get out there and get a doe to add to your score.

I'm getting pumped up for the upcoming Wisconsin Deer gun season as I saw several shooters just out of bow range which I'll be dreaming about on the eve of opener. Opener is Saturday.

Remember to get your doe harvested with the picture of gun, hunter, doe, and tag if applicable for your state.

Continued good luck to all.
Gerry

I'm hoping I'll be able to get out during the muzzleloader season here, the antlerless season, and the second youth season. I think I'll be able to add 25 more points to our score:)
