What ya shootin'?!?

I'm sure we all have posted somewhere on HNI before aboutour set-up for hunting and such, but how many people are shooting multiple bows and have one set up for target and one set-up strictly for hunting? Or are the majority of guys just going to be putting the field tips on the arrows and flinging those things at the 5-spots?

I myself just picked up a target bow but may not have it ready in time to really help out for the 5-spot league.

That means I will be shooting my '06Trykon, set somewhere around 60#'s, 29" draw. Cobra Sure-Loc Sidewinder Sight, G5 Meta Peep, Carbon Express Maxima 250's with 100 grain tips, and an S-Coil for the time being.

My target bow,a HoytProElite,is an '06 Inferno color, with 29"Spiral cams, I haven't decided poundage yet and the only accessory I have on itright now isa NAP Quicktune 3000 rest. Everything else needs to be ordered.

In the end I truly believe it is the shooter who makes most of the difference when shooting target archery, the bow is just secondary to good and consistent form and proper mental preparation. ;)

Anyone else have pictures or details of their bows they will be using for the spots league?

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Bols

RE: What ya shootin'?!?

Am I the only one shooting a target specific rig?

Until the first of my Scepter 4's get hereI am shooting an Apex 7 setup at 56lbs - 30 3/4" with the following stuff on it:

Copper John Ants Evo2
CR Apex Small Scope
Mag Sight 6x lense w/ black ring
Gibblet string/cable
Super Peep with Yellow power clarifier lense
Trophy Taker Spring Steel 1 hole rest
Shrewd Carbon Devibe 26" front rod
Cartel Deluxe adjustable v-bar bracket
Shrewd Carbon Devibe 7" side rod
Gold Tip 30X pro's with blazers and 150 grain points cut 1/2" past the rest
Tru Ball ST-3 and BT Gold releases

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/ringostar40/Shrewd001.jpg

I am sure the stabilizer setup will probably have to change on the new Scepter 4's to get my mass weight and balance where I want it. Most everything else should stay the same though.

Am I the only one shooting a target specific rig?

I am hoping to get my target rig up and running for the contestRJ.

Basically, if I canget my stuff bought and sighted in before the contest is over, I will use it for a few scores.

Otherwise, I am stuck with the Trykon, which isn't a bad stuck, just not a great stuck for indoor spots.

I'm still debating between my spot/field rig, 3-D rig or my hunting rig. If I end up having to shoot outdoors I'll probably shoot my hunting rig, the 8x scope on my spot rig takes pretty good lighting and we just don't get that outdoors here in the winter...

Not sure if I will be using the Trykon (see sig) or my '04 xTec.The xTecis basically my old hunting rig with the poundage turned down to about 58 lbs. I am going to replace the cams on the Trykon with 65% instead of the 80% and I don't know if it will be done in time.

You'll still be lonely Rick... I've got to blow about 7 years of dust off of it:

Golden Eagle Custom wheel bow w/ lead weighted riser 55#/30"
Easton X7 w/ 1" Duravanes
Toxonics Terminator sight w/ 8x Super Scope
(Can't remember the rest but it's one of the original fall aways, has to be manually cocked every shot.)
36" Easton stabilizer
Carter Big Kid 3D release

There isn't even a club here on the island, so it's been a while since it got a workout. Actually, the last FITA tournament I shot in Anchorage I thought was going to be a 3D shoot and I showed up with the wrong bow:

Hoyt Defiant (version 1) 76#/30"
A/C/C Hyperspeed 2-49
Toxonics Terminator w/ 3x Super Scope (also 2x and 4x lenses)
Golden Key Premier Rest
Hoyt Stabilizer
Carter Big Kid 3D release

Like I said; Old School.

Here is the target rig, almost complete.

The only thing left that I needare some good flying arrows and a new release.

It is still sad I can out shoot this bow with my Trykon right now.

Ohh well. It gives me a reason to practice.

Then I see it hit. . .ooooooooh. Clean miss!

It is at that pointmy friend, I don't look so great, no matter what bow I am holdin'.

She is shiny, beautiful, and I'm surprised she hasn't cheated on a guy like me, with my Hoyt shop stool and all. [8D]

I bought that stool for picture purposes only. I don't have time to sit down when I suck this hard at 5-Spots.

Figured I would give my bow a rest from my dismal basement performances and snap a few centerfold shots of her.

I was thinking about sending some conduit down at the target, how should I prep the shaft for fletching? ;)

Does anyone make a unibushing that will fit 1/2" conduit?

What about a 500 grain NIBB? [8D]
