Well guys sat out Thursday, Friday evening and then all day
Saturday and then Sunday evening. I saw one button buck the entire time and probably 50 turkeys. Thats it! I was pretty excited for this weekend hunt b/c I was hunting my honey hole farm but the deer were non-existant. I can't explain why or figure out why they weren't in there. I thought for sure I would be seeing a little pre rut action but to no prevail.I didn't even spook deerwalkingto and from my standand I usually bump one. Oh well, that's why its called hunting and not killing! I plan to be out this next weekend and hopefully my luck changes for the better. Good luck guys on Team 36.

WOW you and me both. I sat sun up to sun down on Saturday and saw one fork horn and too little round heads. Friday night 2 other round heads came crashing thru. These were about 800 yards from the ones on Saturday. I really thought I would be seeing the bucks running too but NOTHING. Oh well. My son Matt comes home tomorrow from the Navy. We will be out for 6 days starting on Wednesday.

Hey guys, didn’t see to much this weekend, just a few small bucks, and skin heads. Should be good next weekend, gonna hunt fri, sat, and Sunday.

The reason you didn’t see much this weekend was the full moon.. they all moved at night…

You know I really didn't believe in the moon theory but I think you have to be right. It was an awfully bright moon with minimal cloud cover. Hopefully my post after this weekend will be a better update with a nice set of horns in my hands!

Ok WI, I don't think we can submit until 10/1 or something like that. I scored him at home using a copy of a P&Y scoring sheet from my 2006 buck and was very conservative (because I was more concerned about getting a realistic estimate of whether he'll make P&Y or not - because if he will, I want a full head mount, if not it's going to be European). I grossed him at just under 130, net of just over 125 (probably going to be sub-125 after shrinkage). The extra tine is around 2" and probably a 3" circumference so he's around 135gross or so (for the contest, but the 5th tine doesn't count even in gross for true P&Y scoring). But, I'll bring my score sheet in and do it right when it's time to submit him.

What's everyone elses thoughts, does your gut tell you he's 125" when you look at the harvest pic (the game cam pic is misleading due to the velvet still in)?
FYI guys, I had him officially scored by a P&Y measurer at 131 net this weekend. Still a few days shy of the 60-day drying period so we'll have to re-measure but I wanted to know if he was P&Y before rifle season opener, when it will be easy for me to get a replacment cape to mount him (just an antler mount if non-P&Y, full head mount for P&Y).

Ed I was thinking that. I did see a lot of deer in the fields on Saturday morning on my way to stand. It was cloudy but there was still enough light that I could walk all the way to the stand 1 hour 15 minutes before shooting time withOUT the flash light.

Deadstick congrats on the offical score. Sounds like he will make the book for you.

well went out tonight. wind was a little strong but in my favor, i had been waiting for a south wind to hunt where these three ridges come down and meet at one point. i climbed in the middle of the 3 ridges w/ most of my shots either being extremely close or around 30 yards. but i only saw one deer..... a poper! just guessing by watching him he was a good 140" 8 pointer. he got within thirty yards of me. my heart sank though when he walked away and never once presented a shot. that really got to me, i knew all he had to do was give me just a little window, but he never did. not a giant deer but he would have been a wall hanger for me.....too bad i didnt have a gun.....[:@]will head out again tomorrow night to try it somewhere else.

I watched a buck really pushing a group of does around last nite in the corn field I was combining. He was gruntin with his head down the whole time. This morning a deer is going to die! There I got my confidence, now I am leaving to make it happen
