Yeah the rut is going to happen a little earlier this year. During the second full moon after the autumnal equinox the deer are in the chasing and seeking phase. This year it is happening earlier. It usually happens in early November but this year the full moon is October 26. So if you can hunt all day long from October 23 thru November 5th this will be the best time. After this from approxamately Nov 1 thru Nov 14 the breeding will occur, so don't expect as much action as when the first does come in to heat.

Alright fellas I'll be on vacation as soon as I finish this post. I'll be back here and at work on the 29th. This week off, I will be doing a lot of hunting. I'm excited to be up at my lease by myself for a few days. Nothing to worry about except bow hunting. I'll check back as soon as I can when work allows and hopefully I'll have good news.

I passed on a basket six on Tuesday. I took a friend on Monday and he made his first bow kill- a 75 lb doe. He was happy and I was too.

I saw a monster Tuesday evening, but it was too dark to shoot.

Hunted Tues, Wed and Thurs. Shot a squirrel to spite myself on Thurs AM. Didn't even see a deer before 9pm any of the three days. Got a few game cam pictures of tresspassers, and found their climber with a chain lock on it. Planning on poaching during muzzleloader season. Game warden has their pictures, and knows where the stand is... he says he has been looking for one of the guys to mess up since turkey season, when he knows the guy shot one with a rifle in our field, but just can't amass enough evidence to arrest him. He'll get his.
