RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
Wow, I haven't been able to post for several days. It would let me log in but every time I went to a thread it would say I was logged in as a guest and not allow me to post. Anyway looks like they got it fixed. I hunted Saturday evening for a few hours I saw 8 mostly does and it lokked like 2 spikes. It was great just to be hunting. The bugs weren't bad but the heat sucked. I am pretty much hunting "recon" stands where I can see what's going on but they don't kill me to get to. Hopefully the temps will drop soon.

RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
So, how many of you are going to get to hunt this weekend? My season doesn't open until Oct 1. So I have a couple of more weeks to wait but, I am ready to go. Stands are hung, bow is sighted in broad heads tested, clothes washed.

RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread

Well I got out in the woods today and I must say it felt good to get out there and hunt!!!! I had two does 15yds in front of me for an hour, then about 20 minutes before dark, there he was,,,,60yds away,,,,it was a freekin' monster!!!! Didnt get to count points but he was wide and tall. The bad part was when he poped out in the field, he walked the other way......[>:][>:][>:]Caint wait till monday.......

RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
Went out last night, nice to be in the tree stand again. Had 3 does 3 fawns and one 5 point all within 15 yards. Backstraps for supper tonight, got my earn a buck sticker with a young doe. Good shot, she went 20 yards and tipped over. By the way, zs93 was hunting on the other side of the woods and also connected on a doe. Pressure is off, now we can concentrate on a big buck.
|
RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
Congrats guys on the backstraps.......14 dyas and counting for me, can't wait. I have a very nice 10 and 8 pointer visiting a water hole everyday. Hopefully I can get in there undetected. Good look at the big boys.

RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
Congratulations on the does guys, hope you do just as well with some bucks. It's been a little slow for me but I managed to get out twice so far. My second hunt was really interesting and I postedthe storyin the bowhunting forum. Here is a link if you are interested:
RE: Hair Raising!! (little long) With the kids starting school and a stomach virus going around the house I haven't had too much free time but I hope to get out Thursday evening and a little on Saturday. Anyway, hope everyone is doing ok and good luck to everyone hunting already. |
RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
New I saw your post out in the forum, man what an encounter that must have been. I am not sure what i would have done in that situation, especially since I have no experience around bears. Anyway that is what makes hunting fun, if you make it back to tell the story. :D
So have you got a new pair of pants yet? |

I have killed 3 bears, two in treestands and one in a ground blind. Sitting in that blind not knowing where the bear was going to show up, made me nervous. The excitement of being at ground level and killing that bear was awesome. Great story, now get some new pants and get outthere. |

RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
New, did you decide on how you are going to hunt your location? Not actually seeing the area it is hard for me to give good advice but I can tell you from trail cam pics I have been getting that hunting water is your best bet. Sounds like you have been experiencing the same heat we have here and the deer have to have water, if able setup on water. Alsohas the corn or beans been harvested yet? On my way to work the last two morning I have seen deer in cut cornfields.
|
RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
Hey guys - No update from me yet. Trying to get some of the things done around the house so after October 15th I can be living in the stand.
I agree with densfbs on the water if it is hot where your at. We have been seeing heavy traffic near water. Until next time, Good Luck guys. |
RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
I hunted the inside corner on the side where the beans are on 9/25/07. The corn on the opposite side has just been harevested this week. I had 3 big does and a couple of fawns/yearlings come through around 6:45 p.m. They were about 50-60 yards behind me and headed towards the beans. I will relocate and hunt this area again soon.
Thursday if the wind is right I am going to hunt on the side where the freshly cut corn is and see if that produces more sightings. Hot and dry. The activity I have been seeing has been late and unfortunately there is no glaring water source within this piece. I talked to the caretaker and he says he has been seeing more morning activity. That makes sense to me because obviously it is cooler and I wouldn't be surprised if the deer are getting some of their water needs met by browsing on the dew soaked grasses, leaves, beans, etc. I might try and get out there Saturday morning to test this theory. The pic in that link should be working if you want to glance at it. |
RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
Bueller? Bueller?........
Anyone seen Bueller? |
RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
Shhh....what was that? Did you hear something?.......There it goes again!!! I'm freakin out.....!!
:D |
RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
New sounds like you have had some success then.....at least seeing deer is a good sign you are in the right spot. I have 4 more days until season opens. Temps are suppose to be in the upper 50's for the morning hunt we will see what happens.

RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
What the heck! You guys don't have anything on the board yet! I thought being gone 2 weeks, we would be in first and running away with this thing.
Just got back yesterday. We had a very good trip, the weather was good, except the day it snowed in Yellowstone. The colors were almost peak, and theTetonswere snow covered. Seen lots of wildlife, and the kids seemed to enjoy it. The wife and I both got a couple good antelope, mine was a 15" that scored 75" gross. The wife shot an old goat that had worn down teeth. Past its prime, I joked with her that it must have also been loosing its vision. It was her first Big game kill. Hers had one side that was 14" and was broke off about an inch, the other side had about 2 inchesbroke off. Scored 71" gross. Hereis apicture of mine. ![]() |
RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
Congrats on the kill, looks like you are the only one having much succes so far. I was able to get out yesterday morning but didn't see anything but a couple of dogs. I am hoping this weekend will produce some better results. Temps are still pretty high here so I am hoping it cools down soon to get those big boys up on their feet.

RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
New have you had any luck since you have decided where to place your stand?
|
RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
Congrats PYbuckhunter!!
I went out Monday night, for the first time in my life with a bow in hand. Man did I love it. I was so excited when I saw the first two deer walk by my stand and bed down 30 yards from me. Total I saw 4 deer of which 3 where does and one button buck. I'm sure you all had the same feeling your first time on stand. I can't wait to get back out there again. |
RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
ORIGINAL: densfbs New have you had any luck since you have decided where to place your stand? I am gonna try to just bepatient and hunt a little here and there until this weather gets colder. One of the main areas I hunt has a late bow season, Dec. 1 - Jan. 5 so I might be the guy that scores in the last seconds ofovertime. Congrats PY, it sounds like you guys hadan awesome trip. |
RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
Got out last night, second time this year. Was hot, about 80.........hunted a stand I've never hunted before, saw 5 bucks and 2 does. 4 of the bucks were well within range but they were little shavers. Two forks, seven point, and an 8 point. Had the video camera in my hands before I left from home, for some reason I forgot it. Of course, I have two of these bucks sparring right in front of me for about 5 minutes. Would of made some good film footage.
We have been having higher than normal temps. here also, hopefully it will start getting colder soon. Mert, welcolme to the good life! |
RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
I've been out 4 times so far no buck sightings to report. Had 5 does in monday night at 25yd started puttin the squeeze on one she turned so i dropped back on the one behind her they saw me move and the game was over. Man the PA guys are tearing it up here early on. Hopefully I can jump on the bandwagon with them here real soon. Good luck guys. I'll be back out tomorrow.
|
RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
I am going to be out tomorrow morning as well. I am going to the spot I had the nice 10 on camera so we will see what happens. This crazy weather has me thinking I will either see a lot of deer or nothing at all...ugh. it is suppose to be 91 tomorrow so I doubt I will be out long and the afternoon hunt looks iffy at best.
The PA boy have been cleaning house as of late that is for sure. hopefully we can share in some of that success in the upcoming weeks as the weather is suppose to be much better by the end of next week. Good luck to you guys this weekend hope to see some posts of BBD's. |
RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
Went out saturday night and man was I on the day. Saw a total of 6 does and 6 bucks. One spike, 2 forks, 2 six points and 1 eight. All pretty small but I was very tempted to let loose on the eight pointer. Hopefully holding off will pay off. Great evening hunt.
|
RE: 14- Official Team Buck Wild Thread
I went out Saturday morning, a cool 70 degrees at 6:30 in the morning. Was sweating by the time got to my stand. Ended up not seeing a deer. It was 95 Saturday afternoon so I stayed in, weather was the same on Sunday as well. Cooler weather is expected for middle of this week. i am hoping the deer will begin moving then.
