Squirrel season opens tomorrow for southern indiana, just another excuse to get out and continue getting ready for the big boys

Tyler, sounds like fun,

I mostly quit squirrel hunting because my squirrel woods is basically my deer woods. IMO really not
good for bowhunting to walk through the woods blasting away. But I used to love it.
Killing a mess of wild squirrels in the woods can be more of a challenge than a lot of people think,
and it is good experience for younger hunters.

Our Cajun camp cook would insist on cooking the squirrel heads. Ever tried squirrel brains? = tasty.:D
There is nothing better than coming back from a cold hunt to some steamin, fallin off the bone
squirrel and gravy on a pile of white rice. That and put it on white bread with some marinated onions.

I don't advise anyone to eat it, although it tasted pretty good.

About 3 or 4 years ago there was a lot of talk about a link between mad cow disease (or a
similar brain disease) and eating squirrel and cow brains. I think it was in West Va. or Kentucky.

I don't eat them anymore. It's a dying delicacy. :(
