I went outThurs. night (tornados and gust to 45mph) went out Friday morning (wind gust up to 30) and went out Friday night (wind gust to 30) it's what I like to call tree rodeo. It was crazy, only seen one deer about 100 yards away, so just for kicks, I tried out my new Buck Growl, and it was like I had that deer on a leash...came right up there at about 30-33 yards...to bad he was only a 4pointer, but it was pretty cool to watch. That's the first deer to EVER fully commit to any kind of call I've ever used, I am impressed. Well starting next Wed. is my monthly week off (wish it were 1 week later) so I'll be hunting more.

I went out Bow Hunting this past sunday morning, weather was nice but we had a good breeze blowing so nothing was moving.I called it a day early in the morning because I had to go scouting on some other property where we are going to be Rifle Hunting for Deer in November. We walked a lot of ground sunday and found several nice trails. We drove down an old road and got out to check a Ridge line out and several large hollers that lead off from it when we found a very nice rub on a large cedar tree.I just hope that Buck is as big as the tree he was rubbing on! ;)

Thank you. Did you tell him if he did he just ruined the chances of your team winning?

I've spent this season learning my way around the place I'm hunting. So, I hut one place 2 times and then go to another area. until November that is. I have one good place that I found the first day that I'm going to start hunting soon.I stopped in there last week and there were a few fresh scrapes and tracks everywhere. Tomorrow would be a new area due to muzzleloader hunting restrictions. i hope they don't ruin my hot spot.

Well, it sounds like he shot the high six I passed up Saturday ...... Dave, I would HATE if they let muzzleloaders in my area this time of year [:@] they can't be used until gun season and 10 days after here .....

RE: 20-Official Team Lung Lancers Thread

Maryland and PA both allow them and it's ruined archery. In PA they first extended archery into november and then decided to add a week of inline muzzleloader. Plus a few days of youth rifle hunt(also for military and senior citizens)

Why not allow the use of a slug gun while they are at it.

i have a question for you guys about the dates for the pre/rut/post. it has been really warm in central mo this fall. tomorrow it is supposed to be 71[:@]so on with my question. i know the deer have to enter the stages of rut soon but how late will they hold out with highs in the upper 60's to even 70 this week. also have any of you seen signs of a pre rut taking place and how do you hunt the pre rut. sorry to write a novel of questions.:)

Heyguys just checking in, I shot a doe 3 days ago, couldn't take not shooting anything anymore. I have not seen ANY chasing but did have asmall 8pt walk under my stand Monday night and his neck was huge, and seen5 scapes and countless rubs, I am thinking Nov. 3rd it's going to kick off around here. Anyways, good luck to you guys.

Hi guys checking in. I've not seen any chasing but have seen the bucks on the more earlier than normal, making scrapes and looking for does in the area. I've have a 8,6,4,3,spike and button bucks 30 yards and closer even under my stand. I have seen more young bucks than does this year. Still waiting for the big one to step out. :D I'm on vacation next week and it should be great timing for the chasing.........:)

Howdy boys. Hope your hunting is going well. I had a 120 inch 10 point under me tonight that I grabbed the bow twice but put it back on the hook. About a half hour later a tree estimate 125 8 point came thru and I grabbed the bow again only to hang it back on the hook. Small bucks are on the move. This weekend will be good even though it's suppose to be frikken 70 degrees. Oh well I still love going and it won't stop the bucks from the rut. Good luck guys and I will check in again soon.

2 WEEKS???? Wow, that's not very long. It's ok Tony, I have until Jan 16th, so I will just shoot a 200" and let you have 100" of it. LOL

I went out Hunting this evening after work and didn't see anything moving in the CRP field or the woods,I did hear something grunting a few times and I lightly called back and got a few responses but if it was a Buck it wouldn't come in close, hmmmmm???? it could have been a Buck chasing a Doe in the bottom fields.Tomorrow morning (sunday) I will go out and hunt for a few hours and hopefully my morning hunt will be more productive!I like hunting mornings more then evenings but with my work schedule I only get to hunt 1 morning a week! Checkin in boys. I'm getting ansy. I had a really nice 8 point under me last night. I am trying to stick to my goal of 140 or better. The 8 was about 110 tree estimate. From my notes I have had over 900 inches of bone pass by me so far.:DNow if I can only get that all at once. 09mj101 your rut is in full swing if your in missouri. I heard 2 bucks fighting hard on theway to my stand yesterday morning in the dark. Well, good luck on your hunts guys. Preacher Tony you got plenty of time man. It only takes 30 sec.

Boy I hope they can hold out (Rut) until next weekend during the Rifle Season?I've seen lots of scrapes and a few rubs. When I went out hunting this morning it was pretty windy and the only deer I saw was early in the morning and it walked out just a little ways onto the CRP field then walked back into the woods.I have to go check on our other lease hunting property to hang a few more stands around the area so we will see if anything Bucks are chasing Doe's around.

O9mjl01....I don't think your allowed to Bow Hunt during the Rifle Season here in Missouri? You can Bow Hunt during the early Youth portion of Deer Season (Oct 27 and 28) but you have to wear the Hunter Orange like you would during Rifle Season if you hunt with a Bow then.I talked to several other Bow Hunters around this area and they all said that they saw Bucks chasing Doe's around this past weekend. They are calling for colder weather and the Moon will be mostly covered when we start the Rifle Season this coming saturday so it looks like it will be a very good Rut this year for Gun Hunters!I've been hunting as much as I can the past few weeks so hopefully I will shoot me a nice Buck if they are chasing the Doe's around! ;)

09mjl01 11-06-2007 07:46 PM

RE: 20-Official Team Lung Lancers Thread

yeah the cold weather should help it kick in. i looked it up and you can hunt bow during rifle but you have to wear blaze orange like during rifle.

Hey guys, just got back from my 3 day hunt, I am confused....I have seen lots of bucks with does, not chasing them, and actually couldn't even tell it's that time of year from the way they were acting. Had does following bucks, does and bucks passing each other and continuing on. I've never re-called not seein chaseing going on. It's almost post rut looking to me, like the bucks are locked up with does. If so, it's really early for that to happen around here. Anyways.......Seen a bunch of little bucks, had 4 different ones walk right under me. I helped the heard and took out a mature doe my last morning there, and the last evening hunt I had 6-7 deer within 30 yards of me then it got dark, heard them walking all around me, heard one of the little guys making a scrape (which blew my rut theory) out the window. Anyways, I have the 11,12,13 off to bow hunt, then gun season starts the 16th, that'll really scatter the deer. On a side note...seen a 180" Perfect 12pt. staring at me 10 yards off the road. broadside, nothing in the way except air, only problem was, I was in my car at work on base.

Checkin' in ...... this season has been frustrating to say the least ..... due to a serious financial situation, I have been forced to take on an additional 40 hour a week job .... I have not been able to get out nearly as much as I would like ...... i'll be out all day Saturday, and if I call in sick on the overnight Sunday, I can be out all day Monday as school is closed for the holiday .... deer are everywhere in my area now ....

C'mon guys, we can't "blank" this year. I know I had my chance early with that 150-160". But I have Sun-Tues. off, but the weather is calling for temps in the 60-70's and rain, might onlybe a REAL early hunt these next 3 days.[:@]

MOTOWNHONKEY 11-11-2007 10:49 AM

RE: 20-Official Team Lung Lancers Thread

Hang in there guys we are not going to go "Blank". It's been in the 70's most of the month of Nov. here too. The weather has really put a damper on our usual rut activity. I have been seeing some decent bucks but zero sightings of the buck I have been hopeing to meet up with. Keep up the good fight guys and just do the best you can. Chris

got up to 78 here today. yeah 78[:@]i have seen chasing going on but no good bucks. it is rifle right now so the deer are moving everywhere and are hard to find. im struglin right now but i think the rut will pick up after the temps go down and bow starts back up.

Checkin' in, I'm still hunting hard except for a couple of 40 mph windy days and a driving rain storm. I almost had a 10 yard shot a a nice 10 point that was chaseing a doe past my stand. I couldn't stop him. I'm finnally seeing some shooter bucks now. Only problem is that the gun hunters are moving in and hanging stands in my area.[:@]That really ticks me off since I've been the only hunter in theresince bow season began, but I don't own the land so I can't say much. Oh well hopefully I score before gun season starts or I'll still be there and maybe they'll drive one to me. Good luck team mates.

Well guys I have been hard at it for the past couple weeks and have been seeing plenty of deer. I have only seen a few spikes and one four point, nothing to brag about but I have all next week off to hunt hard everyday before the rifle season comes in and makes it really tough!!
