RE: Team 9 checkin
Hey guys, I got my '06 buck at first light on the 21st...second day of the hunt.
My hunting partner and I were getting ready to cross a field to get to a favorite rattling hill about 400yds away. I was doing some glassing before we went across and was watching a doe. Then a second doe showed up with this guy. Couldn't tell what kind of rack he had until he turned broadside and I knew he was a shooter. I got set up on my shooting sticks he was facing me again at 220yds. The shot went in the neck and travelled right beside the spine about half his length dropping him on the spot.
Rifle is a Sako 75 in 300 Win Mag and I was shooting factory loaded 150gr. Power Points. (I got in a jam at the last minute and had to sight in with the PP's but I was impressed with the penetration and how well it held together. Not sure what the retained weight is but it penetrated well and there's a lot of shank left on that stubby bullet .)
Anyway, I don't know what it scores yet but he's an excellent buck with a very good size body. (Check out the extra brow tine on the right side...very cool!) I'm having a European mount done.
Here's a link to some more pics of the buck, bullet, my friends buck with half a rack, and a moose we were chatting with:

Congrats on the great bucks everyone...and good luck to the rest!
