I actually had a feeling yesterday in stand that someone on the team would score within the next few days.

Congrats Rob, nice deer! Big bodied deer too!

Been seeing alot lately, mostly young 1 1/2 old bucks push does. Saw a nice 140 class 8 point on Wenesday morning. Looking to score this weekend!

AWESOME Rob! CONGRATS! We can't always beat our best you know! I'd put him on the wall he's a great buck. You're only what, and hour and a half from here? You need to come up and help me chase down the big ten I saw the other morning! Lots of time left and it's just getting hot.

Thursday morning I climbed in justbefore day break. The woods lit up with deerto my left soon after and at first I thought the wind was swirling. I pulled out the chalk bottle and gave a couple puffs when all of a sudden I saw movement thirty yards out. A buck zigzaging like crazy with his nose down. At first I figured him as an eight point but a shooter no doubt. He was cutting up and down the ridge in front of me just out of range paying no attention to the grunts I was throwingat him. He did getinside 30yds once but I had no shot. He finally found the scent he was looking for. He cut the same line as the deer from earler and found his hot doe in the golden rod field off to my left. I watched threw the glasses as he (which turned out to be a heavy wide 10 point) and 8 to 12 other smaller bucks chased this hot doe all over in circles for about a half hour. I wanted to get down and do a stalk so bad but they're were so many deer around I didn't think I could get close enough without spooking them out of there. Then it happened. She stood! The big ten got his wish and I watched!Was I wrong for watching? I wasn't the only one, he had a hell of acrowdand it was all eyes on him. I thought thatwas funny cuz he didn't careone bit:D They all bedded after that and I figuredI had a fifty fifty chance of them moving my way when they pushed her up again. My grunting onlybrought thelittle bucksmy way, big boy wasn't going to leave her for nothing. Luck wasn't on my side, they rose after an hour and moved off the opposite way. I climbed down and setup between where they were and where they headed.I sat on an uncomfortabletree branch from 11am till dark knowing there wasa real good chance of them working back my way.Long story short,they did but it was to dark. Tenyards in front of me I had tons of deerchassing a hot doe and I couldn'tdo anything but listen. It wasa great day non theless. Igot to watch that ten beat the snot out ofthose littlerbucks.Some deer porn. And my heartrate spiked a few times.Now that they got thetaste they'll be movinggood I hope to get a second chanceat him. Id say he's around 130-135 nice wide heavy and if only I had acigarette on me I think that would'vepulled him in. He looked like he needed it:D

good luck guys! sounds like were all into deer. duke and MM good to hear from you guys! still time left...and its the GOOD time

went fall turkey hunting today since the weather was nasty. couple of us snuck around small game and turkey hunting. didnt see any pheasant or rabbits and we were busting some serious brush! but we did get into a flock of turkeys! actually 2 flocks. my buddy shot a small hen out of the first flock and we rolled 3 hens out of the second. the second let us sneak right into them. the weather was nasty..woods were wet and high winds hindered their hearing. didnt even need to call. flock busted nicely but noone wanted to sit around and have me call them a bird in...the turkey population around here is crazy. soooo many hens and come spring you dont hear all too many gobbles. heres my bird...





gota go clean her yet. mine was the biggest outa the 4 we killed. good sized hen. waiting for someone to get home and take some pics with me behind it..though its dark and nasty out now so i wont beable to get any good pics.

Nice work Captain!!

Well I hunted almost all day, took a 2 hour break in the afternoon to dry off.

Morning hunted the old river bottom, to windy for my boat. I did not see a deer until 5:30PM(moved to the my new rut stand). Nice 6 came out, and wondered around. Then at 6:30 I see a big 8 behind me, he runs south out of sight. 5 min later here comes 3 doe's, I have a shot a the big one, but I hold off. The last doe is looking behind her. They all walk buy and here he comes, I could not get him to stop, he came through to fast and over ran my shooting lane. Last I saw off him, I got out of there I hope with out spookingthem.

I will be out all say tommorow

thanx guys...just had a bite now...mmmMMMMM good. grandma found a recipe for cooking them in a slow cooker. it called for all the ingredients for BBQ sauce(book was printed before they bottled it i bet! lol) so we put about a half bottle of honey BBQ sauce all over it..put a whole onion inside and sliced up another one and put the slices all over...let the slow cooker do its thing...man is it good. i dont pluck em so no matter what they dry out. this one is the best yet...i dont know that it beats deep fried but its good. the BBQ sauce didnt give it too sweet or taint the taste too much just enough to flavor it..and the onions gave it a little hint of flavor..but its good. time to go sit down and go to town since noone else in the house will eat it..plus 2 aunts, 1 uncle plus cousins over for sunday dinner! "oh its cheaper to go buy one! i heard they are nasty whyd you shoot it?" me: the shell cost me what 30cents?? and im eating it and loving it! 30 cents well spent you tree hugers!! (my aunt and uncle are pretty much anti hunters...i get an ear full every time i bring something home..oh well!)

PS...my buddy seen my buck yesterday! came out of the same area he been hanging around. noone can be 100% sure its him because they dont know what he looked like but hes the only good buck left in that area right now so chances are good. think ill set back up on him next week when im back in the woods! i wanna finish him!
