dang did you guys know there were TEN teamates??? i thought there were 5 lol. me rob ghemry and SB do ALOT of the 34 pages of talking! heck mobowhunter and buttonbuck have more posts here then some of our teamates!!

i hope you missing guys are out hunting or scouting or shooting! lol...though i know life can be busy.....but you missing guys need to join the fun! itll take you guys a while to catch up on 34pgs...ill fill you in. were gunna take this thing hands down.....and we all want to go hunting in the worst way....now you guys can all join the fun lol...man 34 pages and most of our seasons hadnt started yet....were gunna blow up the server when we start hunting...stories...pics...advice..etc...better have Justin upgrade the size of the site!! lol

I am waiting, but I am getting grumpy. My wife ask me why I was so grumpy last night.

I am going to put my boat in the water and check things out on Saturday. Next weekend I will be in a tree with Jake on our youth hunt.

I hear ya, GHemry. I'm tkaing my son hunting this afternoon. Neither one of us has ever hunted this place......but it's got some good sign (I scouted there, after last season.....and I busted a deer in one of the 2 times I went there, this season). I put a trail cam up there almost 3 weeks ago (on a mineral lick site). I'll set my son up on a trail near there, this evening. I'm going into unchartered area.

We'll see. I saw 10 deer....including the one I hit, Tuesday. With all the rain we got (33 hours of non-stop)......do you think 3 humans and 2 labrador retrievers scents will have been diluted/gone by this Saturday afternoon? If so....I'll be back in there.....EARLY, this time......to see if I can see that buck, again (or another). I'm still sick over it. I'm thinking of getting back into the woods (30 yds or so)......near where they were staging the day I busted them coming into the field. I'd like to catch them on their way there. Game plan?????

SBG I have good luck in staging areas, Where I tend to hunt in the evening's. I stay 10-30 yds in, and off the beaten path.

I have always notice the bigger older bucks hanging back a bit, not going out until dark. I see them on the deer runs not well travled.

In the 90'sI had a honey hole, I sat 20 yds in on this old path. When the field was corn it was awesome, I have seen a pile of bucksand doe's there and killed. We planted CRP in 98 and it has never been the same. We changed the enviorment and the deer changed with it.

It all depends on where you hunt, and what the setup looks like. I talked to a pile of big buck hunters, and there is onemain point they all do. Getting to and from your stand undetected. Noneus know how many deer we scare walking toand from our stands. I love the line, but I am seeing deer. Well seeing deer and seeing mature deer are two different things. I have been out smarted so many times, it is funny.

SBG you are on the right track, inch or two in the right direction and things would be different. Talk with the hunters in your area, the really good ones, see what they are doing. Great example is grunt tubes and rattling, I do not do. In MI we have too many doe's, and too few mature bucks. So competion is not there, so when you rattle the mature buck does not care, plenty of girls for him, no need to go fight. What comes in is the little bucks, because they do not know any better. Since I went to stealth mode I see a alot more mature bucks. I got this tip from a really good bowhunter, he has a book coming out soon. He hunts in MI & Ohio.

I'm with you on "Stealth Mode". I'm going to set up as close to the edge od the woods as I can, this evening......and see what I can see. If I'm not in the right spot.....maybe I'll know more of where to set up, next time.

About my honey hole.....

Is the scent I laid in there Tues. night and yesterday morning going to be out of there by Sat? It rined hard and steady for over 30 hours......stopping, this morning.

good luck with your kids guys! thats awesome.....i almost look forward to having a son..but not yet. its wierd i always hated babys..but my little cousin is like 1(i dont know walking..playing..almost talking) but i love playing with him. hes a funny little guy. i gota get outa college and get settled and that first..but its right around the corner.

SB..hope you see the buck..the area should be fine by tomarrow..heck tomarrows friday....plus the rain....set up early how you said and beat them there.

im ready to go home this evening and fling a couple arrows...though i know the lawnmower has my name on it. i wanted to do it monday before i left and my cousin stole the lawnmower and cut his grass. i told him he gota cut mine too because it needed cut bad monday and i was headed back to college..i got some choice words and he left. some cousin! that family fued will be fueled when i get home..that was uncalled for. but im getting all the gear laid out and ready before i leave this weekend. making sure EVERYTHING is 100% ready..packing the pack etc. i think all i need is a accessory strap and a quiver holder if i can find one for my alpine. and learn to use the 400 straps and ropes that came with my viper.....good luck guys! i miss the days of hunting with dad...having him say sit here..our schedules just dont meet up too often....im pretty much on my own with bowhunting. my farmer friend has a few stand spots picked out he been seeing BRUISERS in..but theres going to be alot of pressure out there....we will see how it goes..i got backups at home and spots at school. im ready

Capn I’ve been busier than H%LL working two jobs, just took another on as a helper for a surveyor. Getting two vehicles set so I don’t need to touch them during season. Buying a house, selling a snowmobile. Little things like that! Don’t you guys fright though, it’s all so I can hunt my arse off during the most glorious time of the year. And the good news I have for you all is, my uncle and I went for breakfast down in PA (awesome little diner just across the border) and he said, “lets go down to the hardware shop I’ll buy you a PA license this year.” After I told him no a few times and noticing he was adamant I obliged. That’s not all, his brother in law just from PA showed me 350 acres that same day that will be all to myself during archery season and let me tell you it’s (insert word hear) awesome woods!!!! I’ll tell ya about it when I have time. Turns out a few good ol boys close to the family rifle hunt it and see tons of deer and a few “trophies” as they call them, every year. “Someone takes a “beauty” every year” he said. So it looks promising. It looks like I’ll be in a tree along with you PA boys after all. How cool! All for now, gotta get my butt to the FD maybe I’ll get a chance to check back later. If not don’t worry, I didn’t got anywhere!
