RE: team 34 check in thread
Hello everyone! Just checking in. I'm pretty quiet on the boards--but I read just about everything.
This year I'm hunting some new land in southern KY and I'm hoping I see more deer this year than last - I'll also be hunting in NE OH (which is where I live) Happy Hunting! Bring on the season! |
RE: team 34 check in thread

RE: team 34 check in thread
Just so you guys know I am in a bit of a dilema. They are currently doing some clear cutting in my hunting woods. The woods around my house they will not be touching but there is a problem. The woods around the house are like 10-25 acre small plots which are against the river shoreline.
Typically this time of year the deer rarely visit the smaller plots of woods, but I have noticed a big change in thier movements due to the cutting. Generally the second day of gun season I can sit on my front porch and watch the deer run through the fields ( some through my yard) straight for the woods around my house. I am thinking that once the loggers hit the big woods full force I will see the deer react as if it was gun season. Soooooo, with all this said, I will more than likely be doing alot of blind hunting. Never fear though, I took my nice 9 point from the small woods by the house in a blind last year. Anyways, I will know more about the time frames they will be done cutting in about a week or so and will keep you informed. Dave |
RE: team 34 check in thread
Dave, that clear cutting may help. It could push the deer in to the 25 acres you will be hunting. Nothing wrong with a ground blind, you have hed success from it before. Maybe you can give us a repeat performance from last year.
By the way what part of southern Md are you from? |
RE: 34-Team Official Thread
Kriesis, I got to looking we were on the same team last season. Maybe we can do a little better this year. Good luck to ya.
|
RE: 34-Team Official Thread
St. Mary county, very lowest southern part on the map. I am driving up the road about 5 miles this afternoon to talk with a farmer who has expressed an interest in letting me hunt his property. Seems he wants the local herd thinned out a bit.)
Dave:) |
RE: 34-Team Official Thread
I just want to remind all team members to read the rules, especially the one(s)for what is required in the picture of you and your buck. The competition will be tough this year and we don't want to lose or not get points for abuck because something was not in the picture.
With that said, good luck to all and everyone stay in touch. |
RE: 34-Team Official Thread
Thats awesome Dave, hopefully between the two spots you'll be able to connect with a big one.
|
RE: 34-Team Official Thread
We need to be thinking of a team name and we need to nominate a team Capt. Also how long is the waiting period for team members to check in.

Krieses Where in NE Ohio are you from? I live in Trumbull County. Ashley The time to check in has been rob's determination the pastcouple years. He will then fill in the no shows with the alternates. I will volunteer as team captain as I am familiar with the duties having been one the past few years, that's if you guys will have me. Looking forward to getting to know everyone better :) [/align] |

Team Names I like :
Dawn Patrol Sunrise Posse Team Bloodtrail Team Droptine HNI Mob Team Danger Team Code Red Team Trails End |
RE: 34-Team Official Thread
Anything but Bucknutz would be just fine. Do we call Buckeye captain or should it be something like "Your Honor" or "Oh Great One". With trail cam pics like those he can carry us to glory. Do pics make as thin of a soup as droppings? I got so many tree steps screwed in that I should have shares in Ameristep. The swamp maples have started to change color a bit sothe fun can't be to far away. I'm gonna have to start practicing calling in sick to work. Cough Cough, I got a fever......
|
RE: 34-Team Official Thread
I kind of like Dawn Patrol or Buckjunkies
how about buckaholics? |

RE: 34-Team Official Thread
Tim,
Thank you sir and I wish you continued success this year. I also noticed the weak smack being tossed over here :D Planter Mobow likes the "bucknutz", because he knowsour teamis going to be dropping em' on team 8 this year [8D] MD I am 26 years old and live in the geat state of Ohio. I hunt some excellent areas that produce some nice whitetails and I have been fortunate enough to take a few of them big boys. I start hunting Sept30th. Anyone plan on any videoing? I am undecided at this time. |
RE: 34-Team Official Thread
Man Buckeye--more similarities
My name is Mat and I'm 26 (just turned on the 21st) - hunt in OH (with little success) and in KY (hopefully with LOTS of success). I've also hunted in WV. I've been hunting for the past 20 years, but only bowhunting for the past 4. My little girl turns 9 months old on Sept 1. On Sept 2 is the opener in KY. I'm pretty sure she wants daddy to bag a nice big buck for her birthday... As for videoing - I've never rally had anything to video--so thats a no for me - but if anyone needs a cameraman, I would be willing to try it out (if you are close by - I see alot of our teammates are around OH). |
RE: 34-Team Official Thread
My name is Ashley (its tough growing up with a name like this, but hey my mom was a bigGone With The Wind fan). I am 30 years old, I live in WV. I have access to alot of hunting in WV, including Mon Co, Preston Co., and Pocahontas Co. The only bad thing is WV isn't known for producing huge bucks(only a few select southern counties). I may not have the biggest buck on the team but I hope to add some points to our score. I start hunting Oct. 14.
