I have 4 hanging on my wall that are...they don't grow em here like they do there, bu we have em. I hunt WV also and have pics of the one from last year that will go 130-140. There is a nice spike I got my eye on though lol

Hi everyone, how's it going. I've taken the time to read all the replies throughout your team thread and I'm a little suprised. I think you all have a great team minus your mia's and I'll take care of that. You need to come together and be a team. A captain does not run a team, they are there for me, when I need them and to relay information, they are not a boss....my team voted Mauser capt cause I was busy running this contest..FOR FUN. If I wanted a boss, I'd be it..LOL;)

My vote goes to Nockdown...if my vote counts...that's unique and creative. As for team capt, Oneshot7 has it, seems to have a level head and I recognize the long term member.

We need your comradorie to continue the contest guys. It's not about everyone taking 130" deer, sure that'd be great and a sure winner but look at it this way, 10 100" deer equals 1000 inches of antler....that would have killed Team 20's last years outstanding score and honestly, I don't think any team will touch last years score, not even Team 20...8 of 10 members took bowkilled bucks...that's against the odds...

Guys, enjoy this contest....don't hunt for the contest, hunt for yourselves and just come together and experience the hunt as a team...that's what it's about, fun, fun, fun...who cares who wins...besides, you can't touch team 36. ;) :D [8D]

Thanks for the reply Rob. It's good to see you take the time to be a real part of this contest...very much appreciated. We do seem to be missng a few guys, and that' sok...we can fix that. Always glad that I was able to find such a forum with guys who are truely helpful. Thanks again.

Ok guys...we are dragging our feet. I know we can't do anything about the missing guys, but let' sdo what we can "together" until we get the replacements.

Rammer, we must have caught each other on bad nights, and our posts brought out the worst in both of us...let' sput it behind us and have some fun in this contest.

Glad to be a part of a team that has some really active members on this forum.

Anyone plan on doing any video??? I am going to again this year. Should be fun.

Yep, I'm ready to put this all behind us. My biggest archery buck only scored 136 P&Y, but I just happen to manage my property for trophy bucks and I have not killed a buck with my bow or rifle in 2 years now just waiting. I could tag out with a 140" + deer every single day during rifle season, and I'd say once a week bow hunting. There is an absolute pig that I have only seen once so far this year, but he is pushing all of the upper 180" range. Last year I let one of my buddies hunt one of my stands and he tagged out in one nite with a 157" deer. That was my wedding present to him, couldn't afford to buy him anything at the time so I told him to come over to my place and hunt a few times, well it only took one time.

Here is my biggest archery buck to date. He was a main frame 5x5 and had split G2s makin him a 6x6.

Those are some nice deer. I've been reluctant to buy a trail timer camera (Mainly because where I live there aren't any trees) I've killed around 20 some deer with my bow, and only 3 of those have been from a treestand, the rest have been spot an stalk.

I did take my brother with me a few nites last fall taking pics of what we had running around.

Here is a 2 1/2 year old buck last year. He end up living through rifle season, which is kind of amazing. This year he is in the 150" range.





The deer in this pic was poached off my land opening day of rifle season. This was the buck I was hunting with rifle last year, and I witnessed the whole event. It was a main frame 4x4, and it is hard to see in that pic but he was around 22" wide, 15" G2s, 13" G3s, and good mass. He end up grossing in the upper 170s.

How does it work if you shoot a mule deer in this tournament? I looked thru last years entrys a few days ago and I never saw any mule deer entered.

Ok I looked atthe entrys for this year, and the first deer shot and entered was a muley buck. It looks like there must be some formula to where they deduct a certain percentage off of a muley to make them equivelant to whitetail deer.....

OK I found what I was looking for.

. Will be using the Pope & Young Gross scoring system, no deductions. (See percentages below)

Whitetail (as norm):125/125 = score x 1
Columbia blacktail: 125/90 = score x 1.39
Sitka blacktail: 125/75 = score x 1.67
Mule deer: 125/145 = score x 0.86


I went out to do some dove bangin with my pup and didn't even squeeze the trigger. End up watching 12 deer come out of one of my corn fields, with 2 really nice bucks in the pack. I went back to my pickup and got my binos an spotting scope and watched them for about an hour. Looks to me they are on a very casual routine every nite, and they went to a waterhole. Might set the double bull up in a few weeks so they get used to it. One of the 2 bigger bucks was in the 150" range, the other was mid to upper 130s.

I like the avatar, just was wondering what a few small changes would look like. Maybe make the Text a lil bit bigger (at least nockdown) and maybe make it red so it stands out a lil more. And we need a 10pt rack in deaths hands ;)

Went to my stand today to clear some lanes, and my uncle and I saw a very nice buck...I'm guesing 130+...walking through the pines. We never did cut the lanes...just let him walk and them backed out...I won't be back now until the first day...he is a shooter.

So, tonite I was shooting bow with a buddy and I found out what happens when a 29" Easton Axis with a Muzzy 4 blade passes clean thru the target and hits a piece of machinery. Arrow kinda explodes and the Muzzy gets bent/twisted in every direction. Damn the luck. My buddy was impressed with the Trykon, we were shooting at 50 yards at the time and I was buring the arrows nock deep every shot (this was a brand new Glen Del big buck) 3d target.

Anyone know how to figure out Kinetic Energy?
