Not to be an azz, but I don't like bending the rules........ The rules were established before hand and should be followed......

My main problem with not including your bow in the pic is that someone could just walk upto say a friend's kill and say "hey man, let me get a pic of this great buck"..... He would be much less likely to grab his bow to go along with that type of pic.......

I vote to not allow any bucks that do not have the bow in them...

I agree 100%
Play by the rules or don't play

What if Buckhunter 17 took a picture of the antler with his tag on it?

Having a bow in the picture doesn't really prove anything. I could pick up a roadkilled buck and pose with it and my bow. Or I could pose with my buddies deer and my bow.

Anyhow, if we can see it's Buckhunter's tag, wouldn't that be proof enough?

:)

I find it very intresting in how people have a problem in playing by the rules when they know exactly what they are before they play. If I were to play a game of chess, eachpiece can move only in a certain direction and ect., each player knows that ahead of time. If you can't honestly play by the rules then play by yourself. So there. ;)

I agree to a point!
But if we're gonna play by the rules (<which we should) , then the rules can't be "bent" for anyone. Last time I checked "the bow in the pic" means the "bow" itself in the pic with the buck and the shooter. That doesn't mean a bow case in the back of a truck!
I understood the rules perfectly when I read them the first time. If we're gonna bend the rules for others , which we have if you look at all pics and keep ALL rules in mind while viewing them , then it's not fair for others who aren't allowed to enter their bucks.
My opinion as a team (#7)captain? Follow the rules the way they were intended ,for everyone , or don't bother setting rules to begin with.

RE: Official Rules

I agree with rules as well, regarding buck17's deer, my reason for including the bow is when slug, rifle, muzzle etc seasons open up because we know darn well it probably happens.....I'm taking Archery Addicts word that there are no other seasons open in Ill when this buck was taken...I don't assume he poached it and if archery season is the only season in, we need to take the word of the young man for the lawfully taken deer.

I would really find it sad if someone posed with someone else's deer just for this contest...

I know rules are rules but we do need to keep these one per one basis....I will agree with the majority and remove the entry if need be....create a poll..

Here's my 2 cents. The kid shot a nice buck and we're not entering it in the contest because there isn't a bow in the picture. This contest is for fun, no money involved. Not making some exceptions to the rule is taking away from the contest. A bow in the picture doesn't prove anything anyways. Give credit when credit is due. Nice buck, just a shame to take away the credit because the weapon isn't in the picture.Give the benefit of the doubt. There's a lot of reasons why it can be tough to get a bow in the picture. Just my opinion, everybody has that.

I guess I too think that rules are rules. It was stated on here many times to make sure you have your bow in the picture. There are lots of special hunts all over. We have a gun season right now in southern Wisconsin. What is to say he did not drive a few hours north and shoot it here with a gun. I am NOT saying that is what he did. Just saying that IF you kill a deer with a bow it is very EASY to include the bow in the picture. After all it is right there with you because you used it.

While you are at it what about bowngun88's buck on page 2 of the score card. It is only 23 points but because of no bow it was not allowed. Now we have a bigger buck so it is ok to allow this one. Both were (I am sure) taken with a bow. Both knew the rules. Let's just keep this all fair and follow the rules.

RE: Official Rules

I have to admit we haven't been consistent with the application of the rules (not a criticism, just an observation) we have eliminated two bucks due to no bow in the picture (couldn't find one, picture removed, but it had an obvious broadhead wound) and then we've bent the rules on a couple about having the whole deer in the picture. So if we are going to abide by the "Spirit of the Rules" then let's do so consistently or let's consistently tow the line. Just my pleb view.

I guess I don't understand what the bow really proves.

I do agree with this statement:
