I was just curious as to how many of you use homemade scent covers? Someone had put up a thread about one, and I think I'm gonna try that one this year. Any comments??

Incase anyone else is interested, the ingredients are as follows:

1 gal. of distilled water
16oz of dilluted peroxide (about 3%)
1/2 box of baking soda
2 shot glasses of HS soap

Need to store excess in a sealed container, and in a cool dry place. Good luck

LC have you been out yet, it looks like you were able to start on 9/3 according to an earlier post. Keep the group posted on what you have seen.

I checked out 1 place on Saturday and kicked up a small buck and a doe. Property owner says that he has seen a couple of other buck around with some impressive head gear.I wish this place wascloser to home, these gas prices are way out of line.

I'll be heading up to the other place this weekend to checkthings out, but I don't plan to hunt it much from the start. Last year I think overhunted it and didn't see much whenthings shouldhave been red hot. Its much closer to home and really convenient.

Hey guys! Yes Arrow, I have been out a couple times. We went out last weekend and scared up a buck. It was kinda late so we couldn't see him real well, but you could definately tell he had antlers!
Anyway, my season has started already, but it has been way too damn hot for this boy to stay out in. Our highs are still hitting the 90's! It is supposed to cool off this weekend, and continue to stay that way. I plan on my first hunt being Monday the 19th. I took the day off, so I'll have plenty of time. I am also going that weekend as well.
Be safe, and good luck guys. Apparently we're gonna need it. Have you seen the deer in the score card already?? Hope we're all that lucky as well! :D

Well I still haven't left yet for Missouri but I will be on the 21st. I keep checking in to see what you all are up too between packing and rechecking my list to make sure I have everything lined up for the big move. I did get a farm house out there so atleast I will have a roof over my head. I hope ot be in the deer woods pretty quickly out there. Lc may you have a prosperous start to the season and arrive home safely. Pat

Well the season here has been in since sat. Nothing yet. The 8 point I was watching has seem to go nocturnal on me. He will make a mistake sooner or later when the pre-rut comes in. Will keep yas posted

Passed up a small doe tonight cause I thouht there might be something bigger trailing but there wasnt. So now I dont even have meat in the freezer yet. Oh, well not gonna make that mistake again hehe

oh and by the way I just found out today that my state, NJ, is having a bick buck contest of their own. $50g's to the winner this year and second place gets a brand new Ford F-150

Well its 4:30 in the am and I think I will head out to the soybean field this mornin', my brother has seen the 8 point out there several times in the am. Got my freezer full now, time to get serious. Since saturday I have shot 3 does so meat is no longer an issue.
Oh, and I live on, manage and hunt a campground here in NJ so there is always room, bring your tents.

Just thought I'd let you guys know what's going on. I will be scouting a piece of property on Saturday, and hunting it on Sunday. I never got to go on Monday, got called in to work. Anyway, hopefully by the first of next week, we will be able to have something put on the score card! Good luck guys, Jodie

Good Luck Jodie. Brad and I got access to the government property. We have seen some really nice buck from the fenceline so we hope we will see those same buck walk past next Saturday.

Hey everyone, sorry its been so long..work has been very busy lately!I have gotten to go out once so far and didnt see anything worth shooting. BUT, There is a few big ones that are running the land that i will be at all weekend!

Does anyone do 3d shoots during the summer? The guy from the bow shop in my town has almost got me talked into ordering a browning illusion in a red and silver finish for a 3d bow. Thought about getting another mathews but they are quite a bit higher andI looove the illusion!!

Sorry guys, I've been off for 4 weeks chasing Elk here in Utah. I'm a mule deer hunter (hope that doesn't mess it all up), but my season runs until Dec. I have some great ground and chase some good mulies that will still score very well with the scoring system. Now that my elk hunts are over, I will focus on deer and let you know how it goes. I'll be around alot more now and be more vocal in the forum! :D

Talk about some luck. I was shooting tonight and after the first shoot, all my arrows went high. I was thinking what the he!! is going on here! I looked over the bow to find that my rest was raising up after each shot. So now do I just push the rest down after each shot or go get a new rest?

p.s. sorry about all the icons below, my son is on a rifle team with my icon and they needed logos, so I made some for them to vote on. They should be off by Saturday.

Well..Last night at about 7:15 I got my doe I had been wanting just to get the "kill" part out of the way, now i can start looking more for the big one! Happy to get the freezer full this early in the season! When does everyones season start?

Well... its finallyhere. I hunted property #2 this morning and it was fairly uneventful.4 does showed up around 7 am and I was not able to draw without being busted. Theyhung around the area for maybe 45 minutes and eventually made their way out.Usually another group will makethere way through around 8:30but they never showed up. A neighbor guy saida dog from a neighboring property had been running my parcel for the last several weeks and he noticed a decline the number of deer thatheis used to seeing. He had gone over to the dog owners and they saidthey hadto have their electric fence repaired, so hopefully thing will rebound and thedeer will return. I think I'm going to stay out of there until late octoberand hopefully things will improve.

Well all my first day wasn't any better. I was trying out a new spot, a friend of mine killed a nice 9 point out of it a year ago. Anyway he told me how to get there and to follow the cat eyes to the stand. Unfortunately somebody took the cat eyes out. I spent about 2 hours wondering around in the dark trying to find the stand. Eventually as light was breaking I found the stand. As I walked up over the hill to it, I chased away a couple of deer. Didn't know what they were. So I climbed the stand and didn't see a thing all morning.

Not used to going to the 2nd page for our forum.
