RE: Official Team Fear This (24) Thread

I have been getting out each weekend, in the morning and afternoons, never all day sits tho. I have been getting out each weekend usually saturday morning and afternoon, as well as sunday morning and afternoon, and occasionally monday morning. However, this last weekend, I only got out once on suday morning because I had to work saturday morning and the genius Bud Selig was only scheduling the cardinals games at 3pm......so that totally would ruin my hunting plans.
Anyways, this weekend isnt looking too great either because I am scheduled to work saturday morning again. But I will be getting out there whenever I can. Good luck guys!

It rained hard here for 10 days straight since the last time I was out, and the rain finally ended Friday... Saturday had 35 PH sustained winds gusts way over 40. Now Between my daughter's birthday, mandatory training at work plus assorted other work fire drills, getting out hasn't been an option for a while. I'm set to go for this weekend tho, but it looks like the weather might make it another blow-out...

Planning on getting out this weekend but they are talking about rain. I just let them talk because they never seem to know what is going to happen. Hell the weather men here can't even tell me what happened YESTERDAY much less tomorrow.

We have an early 4 day gun hunt here called the T-Zone. It runs Oct. 27-30. Really SUCKS because it causes the big boys to go nocturnal for a while. I am really hoping that we get some good weather the weekends of Nov. 5th and 12th. Those will be the best times here to be out. Not sure that I will be taking any vacation though. I'll post back here Monday or Tuesday and let you all know how the weekend went.

Wi, Don't do that to me!!! I see you posted in the score card thread
and thought we had another one.:DI had a congrats already to....
Well tell him for me congrats.:)

I have only been out a few times this week. We have been moose
hunting. My nephew(14) on tuesday shot a 731lb 42" bull. It took us
3 hours to get to it with my tractor and 2 hours to get back in the
dark. Good thing for the GPS!!!!! There would be no way we could
have found it 2 miles in on the mountain. He was one happy 14 year old.;)

I leave for my dad's tomorrow to go scouting. We have a cow tag
to fill. He wants me to try to take it with the bow. He is going to
go with the rifle. We have until next thursday, but I don't think it
will take that long. I sure hope we have some better weather than
we have been getting.

Good Luck,
G

Hey BigG,
Sorry about that man. He is such a busy kid. I don't ever remember being that busy as a kid. He is pretty special too. His mother and I got a divorce this past spring and I am now seeing someone that has a 15 year old son (Tim). He has always wanted to bow hunt but his dad never took him. Well I have taken it upon myself to show him all that I know. I talke to Matt (my son) about it and explained to him that I was NOT REPLACING him. He said "I know Dad, Just teach him everything that you taught me." Well Matt has also tried to help Tim and this weekend Tim and I are heading back out. Matt has told him to use his stands because Matt has all the best ones. Makes me very proud. I very much believe that if you TEACH a kid to hunt then they will stay out of trouble. Hunting is a much bigger rush then any drug could ever be.
Anyway sorry to ramble. Give your Nephew a bit congrats from me as well. Post a picture of him with the moose. I would love to see it and I bet others here would too. Good luck filling that cow tag. Don't forget about the whitetails though.;)

2 older ones 9+12 have taken deer and turkey already. It's alot
of fun. There is a post in the northeast forum for my "Fear This" brothers.

Well gotta go we found 2 cows today and I am going to try for
the smaller 350-400lb with bow. I did see a buck today scouting,
but he was a long way away. I'll keep ya posted.

I had an awesome hunt this morning guys. I saw a nice 8pt 100+ yards away. His rack was out just past his ears and tall. I tried a few grunt calls, both mature and young buck calls ... Nothing... Tried a little light rattling ...Nothing ... Then just as he was about to step into a field and disappear I gave him a doe bleat. Stopped him dead in his tracks... Looking... Looking... one more doe bleat and he was hooked. Within a minute he was 20 yards and broadside of my ground blind. After 5 minutes he decided he'd had enough and started walking away. Light doe bleat in the opposite direction of him ... and on a string he comes 15 yards of my blind and stands there for 15 minutes waiting for the doe to appear. He never presented a good shot but man was that fun!!! I was using the new Primos Rubberneck - man that thing sounds good!
