Well, no bucks yet but the does here are bunched up again. I was in my blind this afternoon & 45 minutes before dark 3 came in. I wanted to shoot momma but she wouldn't turn for me but instead was facing directly at the blind. I just put it in Tues & I guess she was a little aprehensive about it. Not enough tho. After about 1/2 hour the third deer stepped out of the brush & I put one thru her. She ran off but the other 2 hung out only going a few feet away & deciding their friend was just paranoid I guess. When they came back out she offered me a broadside shot & I took it. The first deer I'm sure was a good shot as I watched it go in behind the shoulder, second deer I think was a good hit, sure felt right but it was dark enuff I couldn't see the arrow hit her thru the shoot thru mesh. I found one arrow & the begining of the blood trail & backed out. Going back bright & early in the AM to find them. Same spot the other one died in that womans yard & I sure dont want to push them off my property again. I might be dumb but I aint stupid.
Last year my buck kill was in Jan in a place I havent hunted at all yet so dont count me out just cuz I'm filling my freezer.

Good luck to whoevers still hunting.

Leverdude,

Sorry for not responding sooner, but I have not been around much. Congrats on the turkeys ,that is really awesome. Also great job on the does, way to keep the freezer stocked. Our late Archery season comes back in the day after Christmas, and I still have two doe tags left. I think I might try and fill one then. Good luck filling that buck tag, keep us informed of your travels.

Take care and again good luck,

Brian

been gun hunting alot lately. I've killed five so far. a doe the first monday of the season, saw a great eight that I shot at but my bullets were deflected, another huge doe that I knicked with a deflected bullet years ago (her tail was cropped, she was at least 4 1/2) a button buck that I stalked (didn't know it was a little one, 110 yd shot) another small doe that I stalked for an hour and fifteen mins and made a 200 yd shot on, and another button buck that I jumped while getting the last doe that someone else had wounded badly. the family groups are still scattered here. waiting for the second rut. hoping that eight comes back through, probably scores about 110.

Nice job guys. Muzzleloader started here Monday. Haven't seen a deer w/ it yet. Went out last week in a big snowstorm we had with the shotgun and tracked one for a couple hours. It cut back on me and turned out to be a big doe when I finally did jump it. She must have let me walk right by her! Anyway, I couldn't get a shot off and decided it wasn't worth hiking back up the mountain for her.
Going out today with the smoke pole. I'll keep ya all posted.

2 more saturday. The one in the picture is a pretty big doe for around here, probly close to 130 dressed. The other one was smaller & took awhile to find. I brought this one home & hung it before going back to get the other one. Left my camera home & the wife absconded with it while I was gone. Turned out that the second one ran into the road & got whacked. I found her in a ditch by the road. Lost a hind quater but the rest seemed fine. I gave that deer & a hind quater from the big one to my uncle before my wife got back with my camera.
