I'm a District Sales Manager for Leer Truck Caps, based out of central Pennsylvania. My territory is from Maine to the southern border of Pennsylvania. Do alot of traveling and see some beautiful coutry side. One of my goals when I visit Maine is to see a moose. The account I visit has a hunting camp north of Bangor and they have invited me up in the Fall.:)I won't be able to hunt them, so I hopeI can at least get some good photographs.

I work on 6000 acre farm. Job description... what ever needs to be done. I do all the row crop planting in the spring and run one of the combines in the fall during harvest. Otherwise there are just too many things to list and the work list never seems to end. I've beenworking here for 17 years now. I would never make it behind a desk andenjoy the variety of things we do on the farm. Plus, I can always scout deerwill working !! ;) :D

We have a few moose in my area. Here's one Tyler and I stalked for a couplepictures earlier this summer. He was feeding in the soybeans I planted.

Leverdude & TJF,

Thanks for the pictures of the moose. I can't wait to get back up to Maine to see one for myself. They sure are one impressive animal. Did either of you guys ever get a chance to hunt or even harvest a moose. My account in Maine shot a bull a few years ago which had a 54" spread, they have it mounted and hanging in their store. They actually sent me a few roasts from it and it was really good. Anyways, thanks guys for the pictures.

I am an employee benefits / insurance broker.... i know... i know... those d&#$ insurance salesman! :) It does allow me a fairly flexible schedule though.
I am 27 and have been doing this right out of college. I work for a financial group in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and truly enjoy what I do. I have met many good people and developed some very good friendships through this business. I work w/ many of the local sportsmen who own their own small businesses.
My partners like to bust me because I have to wear a suit all day at work, but all weekend when they see me out I'm in my camo bubba gear... Oh well.
I have been married for 2 years this September and have a beautiful 14 month old daughter. She is awesome.
Anyway, that's my story....

I hope to kill a big mule deer buck on the openingday of archery season? My wife killed a nice 3x4-mule deer buck opening day of archery season last year.

BPBowhunter,

I apply for a permit every year but lucks not been with me. Next year I think I'm trying NH, VT & Maine. Triple my chances but I'd really rather hunt an area I know.

Leverdude,

My account in Maine has applied 19 year for a moose tag and only gotten drawn once. I believe in Maineif you do get lucky enough to harvest a moose, you must wait I think it's 5 years before you are allowed to apply again. I hope you get drawn, that would be cool.

Wolf Killer

Congrats to your wife on her Muley last year!! Goodluck hunting them this year.

BPBowhunter

I've never applied for moose here.Moose season comes at a bad time... right at the main part of harvest. If you draw a moose tag in ND... you better fill your tag. Just not enough moose so youare only allowedonetag in your life timeand it is tough to draw a tag at that.

Anyway I thought I would drop over and give you a little heads up onone ofyour doomsayers....

You better keep an eye out for the TJF feller....He's a sneaky one for sure. He just pleaded guilty to purposefully not killing a buck for our team last year just so it would be bigger this year!!![:o]He even went so far as to let his boy Tyler kill a nice buck instead of shooting ithimself [&o]....Now I ask you what kind of guy is that????

Hey all kidding aside, I loved the moose pictures! Good luck in the upcoming season I thinkyou will do well....Although it will be tough playing "second fiddle" to your boy......again....:D

Sneaky ?? You got to let them go so theyget togrow. Much better then admitting defeat... not that I am mind you.

Good Dad!!!! Well maybe that one is stretching it a bit. ;)

Second fiddle ?? Geez the boy kicked my butt in shed hunting this spring and seems to be charmedwhen it comes tohunting. I keep telling him he had a good teacher. Can sayit with a straight face even!! I would have been good at poker but got into hunting instead. I just wonder if he buys it??? He keeps a straight face when I mention the goodteacher part and he knows how to play poker. :D

Rest assured... I will give a 100% to the team as I did last year!! Just hope them bigbuckscooperate and I put being sneaking to good use!!

Here's what we do in the spring to start our scouting off of seeing what bucks made it from the previous hunting season...

My daughter's first fish this summer...

Her first sheds ( matched set )last winter...

This is my biggest bow buck...

Got him back in 83 and I am still trying to shoot one bigger then him. Time and family obligationswere a killer for me in past yearsas harvest tied up a lot of my time and hunting took a back seat so I could spend time with the family when I wasn't working. I finally told the boss and the wife... I need to have time to hunt now that Tyler is old enough to hunt before he grows up and leaves. Now thequest is back on to get one bigger. I've passed a lot of bucks trying in the lastcouple years. We put a lot of time into scouting and this should be the year I do it.Things are looking very good here. We got at least a dozen bucks targeted that should beat him. I know... it is a sadobsession but I love it and take it very serious. :D

Western, nice collection of pics, Tjf looks like you have to many deer running around with all those sheds:Dgo get em. Good to see the kids involed. I need to figure out how to post pics, have not tried yet.;) western do you hunt all public land?

Western MA Hunter 08-25-2005 12:12 PM

RE: Official Team 13 Thread

I hunt a little of both... I used to primarily hunt public, but recently I have developed some relationships that have gained me access to some good private land. This season I have gotten permission on 3 new pieces of property where the deer sign is abundant.
The buck in the first picture was taken on public land, both bears have been on public land.... actually... come to think of it... all but 2 deer have been harvested on private land... hmmm...
Let's see how I fair on private this season... maybe it will get a little easier...

Great pictures everyone, keep them coming.

JTF, great picture with your daughter, my daughter just turned 7 and she can't wait to go hunting with me. She loves to be outdoors, and shooting bow with me. Those are some awesome sheds, hope you can get the one your after this Fall.

Congrats to your son Tyler. Again, that is one to be very proud of. My son is 13, and does not show any interest in hunting. I'm kind of bummed, but I'm not going to push him, if he doesn't want to do it. Soccer and girls are to important right now. [8D]

Putting the game cam's out this weekend, hopefully I'll get some decent pictures to share.

Take care.

Brian
