8 more days....
I FINALLY got my bow hitting the way I want. Wasted 2 arrows last night so...its one BH from now on. I had to switch arrows from Beman 400's, I went to GT XT 340's with feathers and WOW what a difference... brought my Muzzy 4 blades and 3 blades right back in. Amazing what spine can do. Anyway everything is set except the alarm clock....come on Oct.1 !!!

Well my season starts Sat. I have to be at work in 4 hours, and havent slept yet as I have been getting everything ready to head south as soon as I get off work. I wont shoot a buck under 8 pts (no limit here in TN, just personal preference) unless its an abnormaly large 6 or 7... Ill have limited access down there, but Ill try to check in from time to time over the weekend.

Default Man its slow here.....

Well, I have been out the past 2 weekends and seen nothing... It is still real hot here, hovering in the 90's on evening hunts, so it doesnt really suprise me. Im going out all weekend starting tomorrow afternoon. Heck, I quit my job that I have had for the past 3 weeks so that I can hunt more. 13 hour days x 6 days a week sucks, so Im going to wait tables again until another Police Department comes along.

Something else that I have been pondering is this.... Even though I havent shot a deer with my bow yet, I am a strong proponent of Deer Management, especially on the private land that I hunt, and dont plan to shoot anything less than a big six or small eight. Now this may put me in a bind if I havent shot a buck by the end of the season. But I cant bring myself to harvest a small buck knowing what they can become if given time to grow. On public land I can be a little less picky as the mindeset enters of if I dont, someone else will, but even then I would find it hard...

What to do....

I feel your pain... Weather has been the same here in Oklahoma..HOT!
Had 3 does come in last Sunday night but never offered a shot. Still no bucks, they are moving before sun up though so it is just a waiting game.
We did have a cold front come in today went from 86 to 63 degrees in about an hour. this weekend is gonna be good I think, lows in the lower 40's. I'm headed to Waynoka early Friday morning and hope to see the Big un there..I'll keep ya posted

We had a cold snap here on Friday, but I had to work... It was 46 degrees when I rode the bike to work. I wished I was out hunting all day, and it warmed back up to the 90s for the weekend. So today I went and bought a compact Thermacell, and now I look at the weather and see 50 degree weather for the weekend. I also picked up a Team Realtree EZHanger, which Im sure Ill like more than the holder on the stand.

It been pretty hot here in Maryland as well. But hopefully after this rain moves out, the temps will settle a bit. I got a chance to climb a tree on Wed night and I did begin to see a bit more activity (mostly does) but in a few weeks (I can't believe is October) things should get rocking around here. My cousin is a taxidermist and he has only had a few bucks trickle in here and there... But the rut a cumin...
